Gallagher In Coma After Heart Attack
On Wednesday night, Gallagher was set to perform when he suffered a heart attack. The attack was so severe that doctors had to place in him a coma so that he can recover. His condition is guarded, but good. I remember back in the day he seemed to be the only stand up comedian who ever had his own cable special. Who knew that smashing watermelons was so popular. Not popular if you just do it to random strangers on the street. Just saying.
Never cared for Gallagher, but I'm sorry he's in such bad shape! Get better, soon.
ReplyDeleteand THANKS for CDAN today - what the what has been going on?
ReplyDeleteI noticed there was a comment problem earlier. Probably just a glitch.
ReplyDeleteSorry for him. Welcome back Enty. I've been obsessively checking all morning for new posts.
ReplyDeleteI guess watermelon is a morning after cure for a cdan hangover. Thanks for yesterday Himmm and Enty. I am a regular poster but couldn't pull my jaw off the floor for long enough to think of something to post on the thread. I hope all the new cdan readers respect the safe and intelligent environment on this board. We have a wonderful community, no matter who our real life identities are.
ReplyDeleteSad. Hope he pulls through and is okay. With the passing of Davy Jones and now Gallagher's heart attack, I hope that people everywhere (not just celebs) will see a doctor if something isn't quite right.
ReplyDeleteMy uncle had to do a stress test to get cleared for surgery recently, and when he went to get a stress test, it showed that he had serious heart problems. He had no idea that anything was wrong with his heart, but he had to have surgery on it that next day. Heart problems are very serious.
I was worried when nothing new was up. Glad to see we are back to normal here!
ReplyDeleteHope Gallager recovers.
I have good memories of watching his specials when I was a kid. I thought he was funny.
ReplyDeleteHoping he pulls out of it.
So sad. Hope he gets better soon!
ReplyDelete@Seachica, AGREED.
ReplyDeleteI wanted to see one of his shows so badly when I was a kid. I hope he recovers.
ReplyDeleteI also have great memories of watching his comedy specials. I pray that he pulls through.
ReplyDeleteDidn't he have a heart attack or something onstage about a year ago? Poor guy! Sending out well wishes.
ReplyDeleteNicely put, Seachica!!
ReplyDeleteI remember when Comedy Central was first offered on cable, they showed Gallagher (and other stand-up) specials. I thought he was pretty funny. Granted, I was in junior high at the time but he was always good, clean fun. Hope he gets better soon!
I'm surprised he didn't have a heart attack sooner given his "schtick". I'm not a fan, but hope he gets better.
ReplyDelete@Seachica Absolutely agree! I don't post often, but have been reading this blog for years. It is the only entertainment blog where I actually read the comments as most everyone on here is intelligent, kind, and just a whole lot of fun! Hoping it stays that way!
ReplyDeleteI always thought he was hilarious.
ReplyDeleteI hope he comes through OK. It doesn't seem like this happens very often, where a heart attack would be so severe a coma would be needed.
ReplyDeleteGlad to have CDAN commenting fixed. For a while I thought we overloaded it, and broke it. ;)
@Seachica, I'm with you!!!!! What a day.
ReplyDeleteI hope he recovers, it sounds pretty serious. I remember him sitting at the table next to me at a Taco Cabana. This was years ago when the novelty of being able to get margaritas at a fast food restaurant reigned supreme.

ReplyDeleteFor all of you who loved his comedy at one time, i would research his latest work. He has become a racist, homophobic bigot. And unapologetic about it.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't wish a heart attack on anyone, but this is not a good guy.

@ maggie - wow! Thanks for posting.
ReplyDeleteHoly shit, Maggie! I had no idea. Thanks for the link.
ReplyDeleteHuh, I remember seeing the crazy watermelon man many times on The Mike Douglas Show. I still remember him saying that he didn't bother combing his hair - "...parallel hair, big deal!" It's silly, but it still makes me laugh.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry to hear that he's become such an intolerant mug.
I used to love his shows, too.
ReplyDeleteBut yeah, all his nasty, racist, homophobic crap during the last few years certainly took its toll on the fondness I once felt.
Still, I hope he pulls through.
