Four For Friday - The Tutor
Don't forget that every Saturday I reach into the cushions of my parent's couch and find a blind item to reveal that has never been revealed before. Could be from last year or three years ago. Also, make sure you follow me on Twitter (the birdie link is over there somewhere)---------> because I post blind items there that I don't do on here. Plus observations from my daily life.
So, as you may know, when you are a minor and on a film set or a television set, you still need to go to school. Well, to take care of that thorny issue, tutors are hired and pretend to work with the children until they can be called back to the set and work.
I wrote about one tutor way back in the day, but wanted to tell you about a guy who was a particularly vile guy. He died not too long ago and he took the virginity of about half a dozen celebrities you would know but all told he probably did the same thing to 50 or 60 teens. It might have been more. No one ever did or said anything about it. One time one actress complained and she was fired. Another time an actress told the tutor that she actually had lost her virginity to an actor on the show so the tutor made up some thing about the actor and had him fired. The tutor did not like to share. The tutor would eventually be accused of sexual assault or he would get some girl pregnant and he would move on to another studio or another employer. He never had any trouble getting hired.
#1 - One actress who was A list back in the day when the tutor slept with her and is now probably a B- with some big time tabloid relationships in her past once said the tutor slept with every teen under 16 on the cast of her show. To do that he must have been very busy because there were about 100 teens that walked through that show at some point.
#2 & #3- This actress who was B list at the time it happened and on a very hit network comedy show says the tutor is the reason so many of her relationships now are so messed up and that she started taking drugs to ease the pain. This actress had one more middling show after the first. The second was a spin off. As a point of reference she also said that after the tutor had sex with her, her co-star (A list at the time and now a reality C) and very famous user of women had sex with her too almost everyday even though he would sleep with different women at night.
#4 - More recently, the tutor made his way through several networks which cater to children. He found lots and lots of teens there. His most recent assault, because lets face it that is what they are, happened on the set of a very hit tween show. Like very very hit tween show which is still airing. The second lead female co-star had just turned 17 when she was assaulted by the guy. She complained to the head of the show who had been a television star himself and he fired the tutor. It turns out the tutor had sex with two of his former co-stars on a hit network show back in the day.

Considering so much of working in Hollywood, from bit parts to production assistants, etc., is about who you know, HOW did these studios who hired him not know what he had done to children at previous companies/studios? He's just a tutor. I'm not saying it's ever okay for big producers/directors/studio heads/stars to molest children, but it seems like these things are covered up more often when the molester is someone in power. How much power does a tutor have? I don't get it.

In addition to when this was known and why was nothing done, I find it weird that this guy was able to have actors fired. Like others said, he was just a tutor. If this was a producer or director or someone with money/power, I'd get it. I'd be still disgusted and horrified but I'd get it. But a tutor???

ReplyDeleteanita_mark, I was thinking the same thing. Tutors are important, but they don't seem like they should have that kind of power on a set. Maybe he had dirt on a lot of people so he kept his job. I'm glad someone finally stepped up & fired him. I can't believe how long it seems like it went on for. I agree with others that it mirrors the whole Penn State keep it quiet approach.

You were right about probably messing up his game. He's a monster. The WORST predator alive. And if you wonder why nobody will confront or charge him? He's in charge of multiple HIT SHOWS for Nick which rakes in oceans of money. Tens of millions of dollars multiplied by many years and many shows (not to mention his merchandising royalties). So Viacom-Nick warn him to cool it - then pay for his damn lawyers.
What about the parents? No tweener parent who shoved their kid into the limelight from birth is going to cross him either, and risk career suicide and loss of revenue (and residuals and future career). No matter how bad it fucks up the kids. Especially if there's MULTIPLE kid actors in the family. And the kid's agents are complicit too. Just ask the Spears family. A LOT of settlements get paid out of Viacom's accounts.
As for the rest of the guesses - I wish I had time to read and think and ask others but I have to run. I do know the Joanie Loves Chachi and the Erin Moran thing were correct. Good guessing "L"...now, WHO was that big shot Tutor?? So well connected?
I hope this is never revealed for the simple fact the blind is trying to get people to guess the victims, not the asshole who did it. Victims should remain anonymous.

ReplyDeleteFor what it matters a friend of mine worked on the set of Roseanne as a tutor and she truly cared about the kids. It's their job to act almost as welfare officers so when a kid says he or she I'd too tired to work, regardless of how few hours they have worked, they make sure that child is pulled off the set. She would NOT let the execs bully her into making the kids work and I respected her tremendously for that.

Finally wrt Himmmm's comment, I wonder if any high-powered celebs or agents or producers, etc have any relatives who were on-set tutors-- maybe that's where the power comes from? Bc it is wierd that a tutor would have the power to get an actor fired.
@A007Belle- I thought of him too, but the only spin off from sbtb with continuing cast members was the college years, and I don't think tiff (the only girl who was on) sounds like victim #2.

This blind makes me sick and angry. It makes me want to stop watching TV and movies and supporting this industry in any way. These were young girls, they were RAPED and many, many people looked the other way and not one single person called the police or protected these girls. For what, a few dollars?

There was a blind years ago about a girl on a tween show that got pregnant by an adult (producer, maybe?) and had an abortion. Amanda Bynes was the popular guess for that...

ReplyDeleteI don't know, I kind of don't believe it. So many former child/teen stars have opened up about things like drug abuse, eating disorders, etc. I have a hard time thinking that at least one of the victims wouldn't have spoken out about it or written about it in a tell-all.

ReplyDeleteShe’s supposed to be the doting mother. Ask the people who help her with her kids. They certainly don’t agree.
First of all she’s never around. And when she’s present she’s distant, not only not involved, but almost irresponsible about it. One of her children may have developmental challenges. As such, diet can exacerbate the issue. Since she can only spend so much time with her children, and often slotted in like appointments in her schedule, she doesn’t bother observing the food requirements that can help with the child’s behaviour. Mom supplies junk food because it’s quick and dirty so that she can get out of there that much faster. When the kid acts out because of the sh-t he’s just consumed, she’s incapable of dealing with it and takes off anyway.
It’s left then to the staff to raise her family. How does she treat them? Nannies’ cell phones are confiscated at 8am and not returned until 10pm. There’s a trusting and kind working environment, non? Totally encourages loyalty.
As you expect, bosses like this always play favourites. Her favourite? Curiously enough, it’s the bodyguard. He’s been seen rubbing her feet. Of course that had nothing to do with the separation ...even though the foot massages have been happening for a while now.

Between yesterday's blind and this one, I am so sad. And outraged that this isn't exposed so the abusers go to jail. Hollywood is just so sick that this gets swept under when so many know about it.

I know why it goes unreported -- besides the he said/she said aspect, the fact is that money talks and payoffs are huge, and once the kids are old enough to speak up, they can't violate the terms of the payoff deal and the statute of limitations has passed anyway. I don't want my kids anywhere near Hollywood.

ReplyDelete@Unknown. I actually thought about that too. Melissa Gilbert also had a very high profile, tabloid relationship with Rob Lowe and Bruce her husband (or ex husband). She's definitely was an A list, but I would say now she is a B-, cause if she were on a new TV show, her name would be a big draw (dancing with the stars). Also, it would be around the same time as Happy Days.

ReplyDeleteI am glad the truth behind the mystique of the industry is getting revealed. The more people can put faces with the numerous awful things that have to go on to 'get famous', the fewer people who will push their kids into it.
ReplyDeleteThe tutor must have been a relative of someone in power that was able to influence talent hiring/firings. I wouldn't be surprised if the obit was in LA Times or Variety other trade mag.
It also reinforces my strong belief that none of the players that people feel 'must be so nice, I feel so badly for them when something goes wrong' are even half of what they present to the public. Cocaine to stay thin, multiple flings to satisfy ego, trading sex for parts, free swag when the pay scale is so distorted, treatment of those who assist them, etc. I am not sure many people who post who would want to be friends with any of them...
Bring it into the light Enty. Anyone who was thinking of letting their children into the business hopefully is reconsidering or planning to be a force to protect their children.

ReplyDeleteI scoured imdb for Head of the Class, Saved by the Bell and iCarly, and Happy Days, and Little House on the Prairie for a set teacher who worked on more than one show....the only show that even lists an on set tutor credit is iCarly, and the only male was a guy who is only 39, way too young to have worked on any older shows.
I wonder if what someone already pointed out is true - a relative? Someone's brother/cousin etc. that the studios were trying to keep happy? Or the other alternative is someone in cahoots with a star or producer, and was something of a pimp/procurer...
Sometimes I really get stuck on one of these...I used to be a reporter so I guess it's in my blood... :)
Whoever this guy is though, I cannot imagine he is the only slimeball....I honestly think anyone who allows their children in show business is absolutely crazy....as I've said before...every famous person I've ever met or gotten to know had some weird issue (drugs, perversion, embezzling, drinking, just plain kooky, whatever....) and it's made me so glad to be a total nobody with a simple little life.

Second, it kills me to hear this type of thing being essentially an accepted evil in the industry. The sexual abuse I suffered as a child has had an ENORMOUS impact on my life. I can't imagine it being not only condoned, but encouraged, while being plied with drugs and alcohol.
Thankfully with love and support, I was able to keep my life on a relatively straight path, less a couple of episodes in my 20s where booze was my bestie.
Something should be said or done by someone but, the love of money is the root of all evil and nothing makes that more evident that this type of industry-wide behavior.

ReplyDeleteThe Lainey Blind SCREAMS Kate Gosselin. I always thought one of the sextuplets looked developmentally challenged. Numerous stories of several of the kids being disruptive/having issues at school. Story recently about one of the kids going under the family bus to retrieve something while mom was behind the wheel. Also we here at CDAN are more than familiar with the rumors of Kate and her bodyguard dude.

I think this is unbelievable - but another part of me isn't surprised. Any institution run largely by the "Good 'ol boys" club - old white powerful men, is going to have sexual abuse of children. It's a power thing. When you can't find submissive women, you start looking for children. This is repulsive. ReplyDeleteAFAIK, the majority of musicians I've met over the years have been basically good people--they have their quirks and flaws, as we all do, but at heart they know what's right and wrong, and try to live by the former. Some definitely have their issues, mind you; some of those have wised up w/age and sobriety, others not so much...but I don't think I've heard anything about any of them that comes close to what you've told us about the past couple of days. Or am I just too naive and wanting to believe the best of people?... *sigh*
I think the Lainey blind is Kate G. Id say AJ but shes not separated(is she?). Also whoever himmmm is he must have a big part of hollywood or he wouldnt know all of this but I dont want to guess. Revealing these things are SO important & I love Enty more for not deleting it. Especially after yesterdays comment. I have to give mad props to Himmm for how he's turned his life around. That is not easy to do, no matter what your circumstances. The way he is grateful for today, admits he's not perfect -- well, his wife is very lucky.

ReplyDelete"Athena's Chains" and "Athena's Release" are both scheduled to release this year. Right now I'm up to my eyeballs in editing Other People's Work, so juggling time is an challenge. But yes, I plan to have the trilogy completed this year if it kills me :)

Any powerful, extremely lucrative industry will be seized in some respects by powerful psychopaths. Washington, DC has a power pedophile network, too, and has for years. Unfortunately, until recently, they've been too powerful to confront.
ReplyDeleteI think it's fairly easy to guess who Himmmm may be from stuff he's said in the past, but I'd like to suggest we NOT solve that particular blind item. The information he relates is too important. He definitely places himself in some jeopardy by imparting it.

Maybe I just don't get it when these parents sit back and do nothing because they don't want to lose their meal ticket, but I do know that as a survivor of a sexual assault it changes the way you see yourself and the world around you.
Also, if anyone had ever tried anything like that with my girls, I would have brought down a ring of hellfire, call the cops, the media, a lawyer...whatever...and I would not shut up until the dude is put away.
I would probably be arrested for stalking the dude because I would be outside of dude's with a sign calling him out on his behavior. I could give a fck what the monetary cost is...because money cannot give you back your childhood. And every child deserves that.
I have a problem understanding the parents who look the other way because of the $$$$. Then again if my husband and I had cared about money we wouldn't have worked in public schools or a police department. So, I probably will never be able to understand it.

ReplyDeleteThe makes so much sense now - all those poor child actresses who went crazy on the drugs and ruined their "careers" like Shannen Doherty, Brittney Spears, that girl from Full House, that girl from Charles in Charge (I just suspect these peeps). I would start the drugs too if I was being raped by my "tutor" and no one cared, not my parents, not my fellow actors, not the studio...
Maybe the victims couldn't come forward due to payoff gag order? Well that payoff couldn't have been big enough. I'd want a weekly check forever!

I know this is an old post now, but I just want to give kudos to Himmmm for speaking out here. Others may not think the same, but I believe that we come into this life with certain things we want to accomplish and I think you must be an old and wise soul to have chosen the very rough road you have. ReplyDeleteI know this is like a few weeks late but I did a bit of research...And the other people listed on the cyberspace, one is Tony Lucca who is a former MMCer...So that makes it seem like #1 would be the 90s version of MMC...
I think they were molested on purpose to be more attractive and sexually open on the shows. Prudes or real virgins in a show would make it look different. I really believe is on purpose. Tutor of a Hollywood kind, what a coincidence it happens only in movie/TV sets ;)

Jack has worked as a studio teacher/welfare worker and a fire advisor/officer on a few films, including:
Loaded Weapon 1 (studio teacher)
Back to the Future Part III (studio teacher)
Dead Poets Society (studio teacher)
License to Drive (studio teacher)
The Lost Boys (welfare worker)
Summer Camp Nightmare (studio teacher)
The Goonies (teacher - as Jack A. Tice)
Now that's a lot of time spent with Corey Feldman and a bit of Haim time, as well as a Corman film full of young boys that no one's ever seen or heard from again.
Interestingly, Jack A. Tice was also (somewhat famously) involved in the 1983 Twilight Zone Movie, where he may have even played a pivotal role in saving Landis/Spielberg's backsides... however he is not listed amongst the cast on IMDB?
Anyone know what other shows and films he might have been involved with (Chuck Norris film in the Philippines?)
I've been spending some time researching this and without going into great detail... I'm wondering if he might be a potential Haim/Feldman abusers?

ReplyDelete@Alone Listless: I always had the impression it was a powerful agent or exec that to this day Feldman has gone so public about former abuse of Haim while somewhat implying he had been too, and open about this dark side of Hollywood but yet still dare not speak his name.
ReplyDeleteIf Jack Tice was teacher/welfare worker and fire advisor/officer he would have to be tight with some pretty powerful figures to keep Feldman so scared shitless IMO. But if he is a registered child welfare worker you could probably look that info up in a state gov registry that would keep public records of those things, probably even available online.
