Everyone Loves A Train Wreck

Although I documented fully why Lindsay Lohan sucked as SNL host in a post yesterday, all of us were not alone in watching the show. SNL got it's second best ratings of the season for the worst host of the year. Yes, there was some bad writing, but when you watch the actors not named Lindsay in the episode they were so much better at actually acting. The Disney skit, which everyone agrees was the best, was not filmed live so they could do take after take after take after take to make sure it turned out perfectly. The only show to do better this season was actually after the Saints and Lions played and the game turned into SNL.

  2. People tuned in to watch her screw up...

  3. 100% agree with you @Misch people wanted to see a train wreck not show support to Lindsay or are "fans".

I just wonder what other shows she is going to beg her way onto.

  5. It was boring. The train wreck has stopped, nothing to see here, move along.

  6. I would love to know who wrote the Disney sketch. Lindsay was actually the least funniest in it. The problem with the guest hosts is that they try SO hard to be funny, they just aren't.

But Prince Charming had me actually, laughing. Even 10 seconds of John Hamm saved it for me. "I WANT TO LOVE YOU BUT YOU WON'T LET ME!!" love.him.

  7. And folks, this is why Lorne Michaels brought LiLo on to guest host. Great ratings. He'll do it again if he can.

  8. I always watch SNL, so I would have watched regardless, but like MISCH said, I watched it live this weekend to see how she'd do.

Am not surprised that the ratings were high...I'm ready for some gossip from the set about her, now.

  9. Yes, but no matter how bad she was or how many cue cards she read, Lindsay will still take total credit for high ratings as proof she's still "got it" and will be touting it as a victory. And Dina will be drunk dialing all the tabloids yelling "Justice!"

  10. I was really torn as to whether I would watch or not - ended up watching part, but went to sleep after the Scared Straight sketch. LOVED RHoDisney and Weekend Update. Rest was boring and sad.

Ratings don't mean it was good, just that a lot of people watched. I've read so many reviews panning her, I'm glad that I forgot about it until after it was over. I did watch the Disney skit on video and wasn't terribly impressed. SNL has had a ton of funnier stuff.

  12. If I were the people at Lifetime, I'd be worried. She can't act for shit. She was so bad that I feel she was set up. "Oh, don't worry, spend your time promoting the show. We'll cover the rest."

And the skit writing was weak and obvious.

  13. The real show was Jack White, impressed with the new stuff.

  14. RHoDisney was okay. Jon Hamm, as always, made my night. The rest was completely snooze-worthy. Even my other boyfriend, Seth Meyers, kind of fell flat. Oof.

  15. And, oh yeah, like Brenda said, Jack White was pretty cool.

  16. The only reason everyone watched, was because they wanted to see if she looked as F-up in person (which she did...old and bloated). Also, people just wanted to see if she'd be drugged out and if she'd mess up bigtime.

Well...she did not disappoint. She read the teleprompter so badly, it was embarassing. I stopped watching after 20 min. It was horrible.

  17. Didn't watch until yesterday, and she was worse than I'd heard. That was some seriously bad cue-card reading. It's not THAT hard. I bet she was terrified she'd screw up. The other times she hosted were nowhere near as bad as this. I watched them over the weekend for comparison. This weekend she was SO stiff.

I feel bad for her. At least she tried. She knew how many people were waiting for her to mess up, imagine that kind of pressure!

That might be the funniest thing I've read in the very long time. That was awesome!

  19. The Disney tweener show "Sonny with a Chance" (you know the one with Demi Lovato?) had a skit on it about Real Housewife/Princesses of Disney. So what may have been a funny idea seems like it was stolen from another sketch show. And a child-centric one at that.

  20. I only caught about the last half of the show, but what I saw was bad. She clearly was reading cue cards.

The only problem I have is why we are jumping all over Lindsay for reading cue cards, when Zooey Deschanel was doing the exact same thing a few weeks ago. I could barely watch Zooey's SNL show because it was painfully obvious that she could not act live.

My point is, though I don't like Lindsay, if we are going to call people out for terrible acting, do it. Don't just point out the easy targets. :)

  21. I watched the first few minutes and fell asleep but I did catch the Disney Princesses sketch and I thought it was funny and Lindsey was ok in it, after reading several comments on her performance I'm glad I got a good nights sleep instead of staying up.

  22. The show Maya Rudolph hosted was the best/funniest SNL I've seen in a looooooooong time. Hers should've been top rated.

    Viva Jack White.

  23. Me, I'm still reeling over the puffy face and the duck lips. She must not own a mirror.

  24. @EleanorRigby - totally agree!!!

  25. Jack White is like sex on a stick.
Little tim burton-ey for my taste but what he can do with a guitar totally negates that.

that is all I came to add~

  26. I thought Zooey sucked too, but most of the SNL hosts suck. They can't all be Alec Baldwins.
