Elizabeth Berkley Expecting A Showgirl

Elizabeth Berkley has kind of got lost in all the pregnancy news. Primarily because she is not as big of a celebrity as Vanessa Lachey or Snooki. How sad is that? To know you are behind Snooki on the celebrity meter. I'm surprised Elizabeth got any coverage, but she did. How old do you think her child will be before they hear about Showgirls? I think by elementary school for sure because some kid will come in and say, "My dad says your mom is Elizabeth Berkley and he loves watching her pool sex scene in Showgirls, although he is not convinced that Kyle can play a heterosexual man effectively." So, the dad is a movie critic and obviously has missed the dramatic performances that Gina Gershon brought to the film.

  1. TMI, I know, but I was a virgin when I first saw showgirls. I remember being confused by those sex scenes. Was that what most girls were supposed to do? I rewatched it recently and OMG was all that flopping around in the pool was absolutely hilarious. I love how bad that movie is. Everyone is awesomely campy except Kyle - he is just gross and creepy. Sorry I have never seen the attraction there.

  2. To love Kyle is to have watched twin peaks at the height of its popularity. He was beautiful in that role.

Showgirls is the best bad movie out there. I have lost many afternoons of my life after stumbling on the movie while channel surfing

  3. Someone posted elsewhere here yesterday that Berkley has issues about her racial heritage. Anyone have the info on this?

  5. Relly Ent??? Calling an unborn child a "showgirl?"

Wondering about the child's exposure to a sexual movie???

I've never seen the movie, but I did see Monster's Ball, but never hear anything like this about Nahla.

  9. Is there a reason why Kyle can't play heterosexual?

  10. Orson on DH is straight.

  11. Kyle is way more creepy on DH. Stalking the ex in his wheelchair. I'm so sad that show is almost over.

  12. I didn't realize she was married to such a hottie. Dayum.

I agree that Showgirls is one of the best BAD movies and I actually paid to see it in a theater.

For whatever reason I like her. She was also in my second favorite Lifetime movie of all time, Student Seduction (to piggy back off yesterday's Your Turn, although in that case the situation was reversed).

  15. Hey everyone - whether you love or hate Kyle, you MUST watch this hilarious bit off last Friday’s IFC show Portlandia. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/02/27/portlandia-mayor-kyle-maclachlan_n_1304643.html Does anyone else besides me love this show? Weird, dry comedic skewering of today’s hipster scene, brilliant!

  16. I've still never seen Showgirls.

    Dare I rent it?????

LOL @ mbagrrrl "second favorite Lifetime movie" ;)

@darvasuta - I have heard the show is brilliant, but we've yet to see it. I need to put it in our queue.

  17. @darbasutra -- I love Portlandia. Living in Seattle, I recognize some truth in every single show. Get the gear!

  18. @darvasuta yes I love Portlandia and people should def watch if they have IFC or streaming Netflix (I think the 1st season is avail now?)... anyone who makes fun of "the Zooey" for being too hipster would LOVE the show because that is basically all it does. And they have great guest stars.

I loved Kyle in Twin Peaks but honestly he always creeped me out a bit in that role too, and has in every role he has played since. There is just something slightly creepy about him

Otherwise I'm w Jax enough with the baby attacking-- say whatever you want about the moms but to call an unborn baby a showgirl that is just mean. Couldn't she be pregnant with a Spano?

Props to @Rose on the I'M SO EXCITED shoutout best SBTB ep ever when she is addicted to No-Doz!

  19. I saw Showgirls in the theater in October of 1995. It was such a funny night. Then it came out on laserdisc just three months later. More funny nights.

There's nothing creepy about Kyle. He was amazing in Blue Velvet. Okay, a tad creepy but still amazing. Wasn't he on Sex And The City? He was with Kirsten Davis - back when Kirsten was at her absolute hottest.

  20. Portlandia is the best! Anybody here ever see "Grizzly Man," about Tim Treadwell, self-styled "bear advocate" who was killed by grizzly during one of his extended sojourns in Alaska? He would have been perfect as a character on that show! "Ay-oh, river!"

  21. Anyone else thinks she's beginning to look like a pregnant LaToya Jackson?

  22. Wonder if that baby will beat on her belly the same way she beat on the hood of cars in that movie.

Sorry, couldn't resist. That movie truly is a gem.
