Anchorman 2 Is On The Way

Yesterday afternoon all the pieces came together and Anchorman 2 is now a reality. All of the original cast is scheduled to return although Christina Applegate is still a question mark. Even though the project has a greenlight, there still has no script as of yet. I can't decide if they should keep going with the original idea or have Ron Burgundy seeing his star power fade as he gets older. Last night, Ron Burgundy himself was on Conan.

  1. Oh look, another original character from Will Ferrell.

  2. Anchorman was ok. Anchorman will just be sad. I used to like Will Farrell but he seems to have become a one note actor. Try something different!

  3. I meant to say Anchorman 2 will just be sad. Not enough caffeine yet!

  4. I thought Anchorman was effing hilarious & I don't typically laugh at movies (for some strange reason). Excited about the second one but won't be too disappounted if it sucks since the last sequel I actually kind of liked was Airplane II.

  7. Sex Panther. 60% of the time it works every time.

  8. It's rare I'd be happy about a sequel, but I am for this!!!

I can't wait to see more jazz flute. I'll probably see it opening night.

  12. This is one of the three most overrated movies of the past decade -- along with Napoleon Dynamite and Garden State.

  13. @Susan B - watch Stranger Than Fiction. He's amazing in it. Of course, the sharp writing and being cast alongside Dustin Hoffman and Emma Thompson didn't hurt.

@ Beth - Agreed on Napoleon Dynamite & Garden State. I mean, WHAT is that scene where Zach Barfs shirt matches the wallpaper?!? I felt like writing him a strongly worded letter about how visual metaphors don't have to be shot like a paint-by-numbers.

  14. Will Ferrell is SO not funny.

  15. Agree with all those who say this movie was overrated. If you deconstruct the movie, it had lots of funny lines, probably 15 minutes worth. Unfortunately, the movie was a lot longer than 15 minutes. Same thing for Napoleon Dynamite. Several funny lines that were too far apart.

  16. Garden State was so bad that I couldn't bring myself to watch Scrubs anymore.

  17. I remember when this movie came out people were quoting lines from it left & right. So I figured, must be good. I rented it and couldn't even finish it I thought it was so ungodly bad.

  18. News Team: Assemble!
And, Great Odin's Raven, that better include Christina.

  19. It was good not great. I feel like the time has passed for a sequel. I'm pretty sure a sequel was already greenlit a couple years ago and then thrown out.

  20. Recently Farrell was listed as one of the ten worst box office draws in movies (i.e. how much a movie grosses versus what he is paid). I think his next movie should be Whoops, My Fifteen Minutes Are Up!

  22. Not everybody liked or loved anchorman, but those of us who did really get it. It was kind of a big deal.

  23. That's nothing, Yes, Prime Minister is coming back for a new series!!

  24. I don't really understand all the Will Ferrell hate. I find him hilarious, but even if it's not your style of humor, he's clearly a huge star. 15 minutes my ass.
I hope this happens. For me Anchorman was Will Ferrell in his prime. Also, I hear he's a really nice guy in real life.

  25. I LOVE Anchorman!! I agree that it's really funny for people who like a very specific style of comedy. My husband hates it, as he hated Napoleon Dynomite. Just didn't get it. My friend and I text each other quotes all the time! (60% of the time, it works every time...Ugh! It smells like a used diaper filled with Indian food...the skeleton has run out of shampoo...)
I think any movie with Ben Stiller in it is usually overrated...except for Anchorman!

  26. @espos - I'm really worried about the casting though. When you look at the quality of the original cast (Nigel Hawthorne and Paul Eddington!!) it will be a tough call to match them.

  27. Usually sequels suck, so I'm hoping this will disprove that theory.

  28. Now all they need to do is make sequel to Zoolander and I'll be that much happier.
