I can see AJ doing that pose for the photographers on the carpet, but on stage????!!!!
@Andrew...making it full page isn't an option for me. Not even enlarging the window. But still, I have a scroll bar on the bottom. If it's not broke why fix it?
I'm generally not a big fan of gwyneth, but that gown is exquisite and she looks amazing. and so very classy.
also, jessica chastain looks beautiful.
angie looks like a horse' -ss with that leg stuck out like that. classless.
angie could take a few lessons from gwyn and jessica about subtlety.
so, I've decided that, jlo + talent = angie. either of them will do absolutely anything to get attention. the only thing is that angie has some talent, jlo, none.
Angie's leg was funny. Jessica Chastain looked great in her gown Jlo looked beautiful in her dress but like others have said it would have been better without the sleeves. Gwyneth looked regal and elegant in her white gown.
Guess I'm the only one that liked Michelle Williams dress. Not necessarily on her - think it would have looked better on someone with dark hair. BUT I still liked the dress.
I usually like everything Michelle Williams wears but I do not love this dress. It just looks...homemade, somehow. Not that there is anything wrong with that :)
Nice arms on Viola Davis but I really hate the bodice.
Why did Michelle Williams have to carry a pink purse with an orange dress?
I kind of like Rooney Mara's ethereal look. Like she walks among us but isn't one of us.
That pose really is stupid. I would have never pegged Angie as someone that tries but this look screams of trying too hard. I remember years ago seeing Penelope Ann Miller on Conan or Letterman, whichever. She came out in a long skirt that had a side slit up to her top thigh. She sat down and crossed her legs and arranged the skirt so her leg was front and centre and the dress was arranged just so. I remember thinking, "loser."
I reeeeeeally didn't like Michelle's dress. At. All. In fact, I honestly haven't liked anything she's worn since that mustard Vera Wang circa forever ago. And she always looks so meek or something. You were nominated for an OSCAR. Look excited. Gawd.
Viola can totally pull off that color, but I don't like those pleats at the bottom.
I love Meryl, but Glenn totally won the fashion battle last night. I thought she looked hot as hell!
We're all discussed Angie's posing, but I honestly DID like her dress. At least it wasn't some baggyass sack.
And say what you will about Gwyn, but the woman can wear the hell out of those Grecian column dresses. I didn't like her hair, but I thought she looked gorge.
My absolute favorite was Jessica Chastain. You can't fake that shade of red, and her skin looked incredible. I've always thought she was really pretty, but she looked like a total goddess last night.
Finally! Jessica Chastain picked a dress that makes her look full on stunning!
And Octavia Spencer is absolute perfection. That dress is gorgeous on her.
Since I commented on The Right Leg of Death earlier, I'm just pondering how close to the ceremony they had their botox (or other) injections. This picture is bizarre to me. Brad looks disconnected while she's got an excessive self-aggrandizing look to her.
How has no one mentioned Sandra Bullocks FACE yet??? As soon as I saw her on the red carpet, I was absolutely shocked by her appearance. She looks like she went to her plastic surgeon and asked for the "Joan Rivers Special".
Her lips, forehead, cheeks and eyes all looked different. Pretty scary. I loved her original face =(
Maybe whomever designed Angie's dress told her that is how she was supposed to wear it. If she didn't stick her leg out there, you'd never know it had that up to the waist slit. That's the only thing I can think of...Some inside joke with the designer or the stylist.
I hated Michelle Williams handbag with her dress. Thought it was wrong, wrong, wrong. Didn't like her necklace either. It looked fake to me even though I'm sure it didn't.
My daughter is six and loved Jessica's dress the best.
Meryl's dress looks sloppy and ill fitting on the red carpet, but looked better when she accepted her award.
Someone a week or so back on CDAN posted that "Meryl doesn't have affairs, she has romances!" in regards to a blind item we were trying to guess. That's all I could think when I saw Meryl last night! ("She has ROMANCES!") HA
Wow, those are really movie start dresses! AJ's is a little off, ss though she didn't spend enough time in the fitting room or maybe her makeup doesn't chime, but they're fun to look at. Thank you for showing these, Enty!
Angelina's dress looks like it was made to make her look less anorexic, and it's doing the exact opposite. She got lost in all that volume. Moreover, that leg has become a parody of itself.
I thought Gwyneth looked stunning, I just really wanted to split her pony-tale up (you know, pull the bottom hair apart, so the band scoots farther up, under her neck). It was weird in the back how it was lower off the nape of her neck. The dress and her subtle make-up was perfect, though. J-Lo was OKAY, but I didn't like the sleeves. I like the description of Cameron -something about a 7th grade skate rat boy. Too buff, her hair looks gray almost. I thought Penelope Cruz looked the best - and Max Von Syndow's nearly 80y wife - GORGEOUS, classy, stunning. And, Angelina, yes, she's got a beautiful face, but she seemed high as a kite, shiny, out of it and way too skinny. The posing made me cringe and so embarassed for her. I've never seen her try that hard to pose. It was BIZARRE and so uncomfortable. Nonetheless, while we are all thinking it, it wasn't good form for someone to make fun of her on stage, right before she had to presenet again. That was pretty rude. Funny as hell, but ... rude.
Thank god for the Internet... between twitter and facebook and cdan and other places Angelina can know instantly that she's the laughing stock of Hollywood. Creepy, too.

Not that they will give a shit, but it might make you feel better.
ok, AJ needed to stop with the leg thing, but c'mon, Goopy was wearing a freakin' cape. a CAPE. Not only a cape, but a CAPE WITH SHOULDER PADS!!! Did she think she was a Greek version of Wonder Woman? Able to turn processed foods into overpriced home-made stone-fired pizza at a disdainful glance? And girl was rocking a rubberband ponytail. *raises eyebrow*
If you like Jessica Chastain, I highly recommend a movie she starred in called "Jolene". I saw it when she was still unknown and was blown away by her talent.
sure with all the comments poking fun at her now it's something that was rehearsed, sure, *eyeroll* a desperate need to deflect attention from those skinny little twigs called arms..wow..she's so skinny and the camera puts ten pounds on - she's got issues.
One more thing: did anyone else notice the CONSTANT weird, buzzing feedback that happened whenever anyone spoke last night? It was the kind of technical snafu that I assumed the producers would have fixed during the first commercial break. It was pretty distracting.
Okay. Another thing: J-Lo's dress did her (overrated, IMO) body ZERO favors. But, hey. At least she wasn't wearing some sort of couture cavelady dress constructed of pelts or whatever.
Jimmy Kimmel in his after-show made fun of that buzz. He had Oprah on, and for the first question there was a background buzz. Then he said, "let me fix that" and turned something off under the desk and it went away. Then he said something about it being important to fix a buzz right away/early on/before it annoys everyone. It was pretty funny.
I don't think JLo looked like a cow. However, we are so used to seeing super skinny actresses on tv and in magazines that it makes other woman look too big.
A younger friend and I were watching the old commercial of Cindy Crawford in that original Pepsi commercial. At the time, guys and girls loved that video. Cindy looked super sexy in that ad. Fast forward 20 yrs later and my friend says, wow Cindy looks kinda fat. 20 yrs ago, no o e would have said that.
Even Christy Turlington has said models are much thinner today than previously.
Just saw this blind item on Gawker (a thousand pardons if it was posted here today; didn't see it if it was...)
"It must be difficult sitting there in front of billions of people waiting for your name to be called. It must be even more difficult when it isn't. This actress did a good job pretending to be happy for the winner of this award last night, but behind the scenes was a different story. She was seen in a corner of the bathroom being consoled by a friend for her loss. While she was not wailing or screaming in a dramatic fashion, there were definitely some tears and some nose blowing going on. One of them was also saying, "It's not fair… it's not fair!" although we honestly don't know if those words were uttered by the actress or the friend who was helping her. The good news is that she did manage to pull it together enough to attend more than one party during the evening… plus there's always next year."
The blind is from Blind Gossip and the popular guess is Viola Davis, but I'd like to think she's too composed to break down in a public place. I saw Rooney Mara holding her breath in the audience just as they were announcing the names (as if she had a chance in hell against Viola, Meryl and Glenn!) and I think it was her.
I've NEVER thought J-Lo was *fat*, and I think she's got exquisite hair and skin. I don't like her one bit, but there's no denying that she's a radiant beauty.
But I've also never understood the big deal about her body. Plenty of women have far shapelier and more muscular asses and hips -- Shakira, Salma, Beyonce, Sofia, and Jessica Biel all come to mind.
Her face is pretty special, yeah, but I just don't get why her *body* gets so much attention. It's just so far from ideal, IMO. But I feel the exact same way about stringbean Rosie Huntington-Whatsherface -- she's just a much scrawnier example.
@Liz -- That's so funny, because if I could be built like ANYONE, it would probably be like Cindy back in the eighties. She was so tall and toned. And she wasn't even that voluptuous, but I can see how many people would think of her as "chunky" by today's emaciated standards.
Best dressed?! PENELOPE CRUZ! Stunning !! Classy!! And, Mango - that blind screams Michelle Williams, who took her best friend, Busy Philips, to the Oscars as her date ... and, she's the only one who thought she was the contender, because she won most of the previous awards / award shows...
Wow, that leg thing was WEIRD. Now instead of just hating her behind her back, Hollywood (and everyone else) is openly laughing at Angelina Jolie. She's really lost her mojo as well as her looks. Yet another reason to steer clear of drugs...
I agree that Sandra Bullock has entered Nicole Kidman botox territory, and is a mere surgical procedure from Meg Ryan plastic surgery nightmare-Ville!
I love Jessica Chastain's dress, but not the colors. I thought Milla Jojovich had the best overall look.
Why was AJ doing the leg thing the whole time? Did she think it looked sexy? It looked absolutely ridiculous. When she did it on stage, I thought "this has to be a joke...she's gotta be joking." She's also doing it in a lot of photos. Weird and embarassing. She looks silly and NOT sexy.
Gwyneth looks a to better than Angelina. AJ tried too hard this time..
ReplyDeleteThe leg is just so stupid. Whether she was on drugs, drunk, or pranking Brad and George, it just looks stupid.
ReplyDeleteI loved Gwyneth's dress. I thought she looked gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteAngie and that pose. yeesh.
Cammie's bod looked great.
I loved J Lo's dress, though I'd have preferred it without the sleeves.
How could anyone say anything bad about Meryl?
Don't you mean "Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie's right leg"?
ReplyDeleteI'm now getting the new blogger comment form and it really is awful. Even opened up as a full page.
Angie Jo looks like she is channelling Jake the Peg, as if she is standing on two under the dress and sticking out the spare one for the pose.
ReplyDeleteLOL!
DeleteI can see AJ doing that pose for the photographers on the carpet, but on stage????!!!!
ReplyDelete@Andrew...making it full page isn't an option for me. Not even enlarging the window. But still, I have a scroll bar on the bottom. If it's not broke why fix it?
Rooney just looks so much like a Vulcan.
ReplyDeleteI'm generally not a big fan of gwyneth, but that gown is exquisite and she looks amazing. and so very classy.

wonder if the jolie kids told her to pose that way?
ReplyDeleteI forgot about Brad and Angie being "one". hahahaha
ReplyDeleteI also forgot to mention I think Octavia Spencer looked beautiful.
GP looked beautiful, that dress is so simple and elegant.
ReplyDeleteBoth Jlo & Jessica's dresses looked so much prettier on TV than in the pix.
Not so hot on Rooney's dress. I think Octavia's was perfect! Viola's - she looks good in that color but I didn't like the gown.
LOOK AT MY LEG, DAMMIT!!
ReplyDeleteI loved Gwyneth's dress, and Diaz looked great in that color.
Octavia's dress is gorgeous
ReplyDeleteIs it me or does Meryl's dress look a little big for her? The fit looks off.
Angie's leg was funny.
ReplyDeleteJessica Chastain looked great in her gown
Jlo looked beautiful in her dress but like others have said it would have been better without the sleeves.
Gwyneth looked regal and elegant in her white gown.

Too bad Enty didn't use the photoshopped picture of Angie's pose...Now that would have been epic!
ReplyDeleteI just put together that J Lo (Diddy's ex) and Cammie (Diddy's rumoured 'piece') presented together. Wonder what they might have discussed....
ReplyDeleteHow has no one mentioned Sandra Bullocks FACE yet??? As soon as I saw her on the red carpet, I was absolutely shocked by her appearance. She looks like she went to her plastic surgeon and asked for the "Joan Rivers Special".

I think the LEG is.an inside joke. Look at the pose...leg out, head back, hand,on hip.....ITS THE CAPTAIN MORGAN POSE... Ya got a little captin in you
ReplyDeleteWow, those are really movie start dresses! AJ's is a little off, ss though she didn't spend enough time in the fitting room or maybe her makeup doesn't chime, but they're fun to look at. Thank you for showing these, Enty!
ReplyDeleteTotally off topic, but just read that Uma Thurman announced her pregnancy. At age 41, I think she totally fits Lainey's "When She Conceived" blind.
ReplyDeleteAngelina's dress looks like it was made to make her look less anorexic, and it's doing the exact opposite. She got lost in all that volume. Moreover, that leg has become a parody of itself.
ReplyDeleteJessica Chastain looked fab!
Maybe Angie is the new face for Captain Morgans
ReplyDeleteLeave Angelega Jolie alone!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI thought Gwyneth looked stunning, I just really wanted to split her pony-tale up (you know, pull the bottom hair apart, so the band scoots farther up, under her neck). Viola Davis looks lovely
ReplyDeleteGwyneth looks like she's wearing a cape. I don't care what the fashion world says-I think capes only look good on superheroes.
ReplyDeleteMichelle's dress is a horrible color. Her lipstick clashes, but probably everything would clash with that shade.
Rooney Mara looks like she's wearing a deflated cone bra from a Madonna tour in 1991.
Jessica looked just gorgeous.
It hurts to say this but Gwyneth looks fucking fantastic.
ReplyDeleteI'm with you, chopchop. Goop was my favorite of the night. I loved Jessica Chastain's dress as well. I think the Jolie seemed really akward.
ReplyDeleteAngie- either high or drunk. Brad couldn't have looked more disinterested in her?
ReplyDeleteShe wore a similar dress to the BAFTAS. The asymmetry of the bodice is exactly the same.
Brad and George skipped the after parties. Sore losers!
JLO - liked the dress. She was smart to wear her hair up, to avoid appearing too short next to Cameron.
Cameron - liked her dress. Arms look a little too muscular.
Viola - love her natural hair style.
ok, AJ needed to stop with the leg thing, but c'mon, Goopy was wearing a freakin' cape. a CAPE. Not only a cape, but a CAPE WITH SHOULDER PADS!!! ReplyDeleteGoopster has loster mindster
I hated the Goop's look!
ReplyDeleteI did read that The Leg was an inside joke from the rehearsals. However, when it obviously didn't work for the actual show, you'd think she'd stop?
I just saw Tree of Life the other day, and am now in love with Jessica, so beautiful and such an exquisite actress.
If you like Jessica Chastain, I highly recommend a movie she starred in called "Jolene". I saw it when she was still unknown and was blown away by her talent.

ReplyDeleteI thought Jennifer Lopez looked like a cow in that dress ~ That dress was made for someone about 20 pounds thinner.
ReplyDeleteAt least Cammie has boobs now.
Angelina Jolie looked like a cadaver in her close ups while she was presenting.
Won't even mention the leg--except it looked like it belonged on a chicken !
I don't think JLo looked like a cow. However, we are so used to seeing super skinny actresses on tv and in magazines that it makes other woman look too big.

Cameron Diaz should give a huge bonus to her make-up/hair stylist. She actually looked good. That couldn't have been an easy task.
ReplyDeleteCameron & Jessica Chastain had my favorite dresses.
ReplyDeleteLiked J Lo's dress but agree the bun is too severe. She has such gorgeous hair, she should have worn it down.
Octavia's dress is gorgeous!
@MissJenny - I noticed it too, in one of her red carpet interviews. Makes me sad.
ReplyDeleteLiz, I had to post your comment with an accompanying pic of the commercial on my FB. So true, and so telling.
ReplyDeleteBrad looks utterly embarassed.
ReplyDeleteWaiting for Angie to bolt off to the next U.N. crisis, adopt another baby or announce a charitable donation in 3..2...
