Minnie Driver gave an interview over the weekend to The Observer and said that the father of her baby was a writer on The Riches. She had tried to keep him protected because he was not a celebrity and not used to dealing with press and I'm guessing the guy might have been in a relationship at the time? Anyway, Minnie says he does not need to be protected anymore and that he spends much more time in his son's life now and that Minnie just felt the time was right, although she still refuses to actually name names. She said when she was pregnant, it was really rough being asked all the time.
"I was making a film at the time and the paparazzi would shout: 'Who's the sperm donor?' at me. Oh, it was an awful film [Motherhood] and I wouldn't do that again, but I was heavily pregnant and I just wanted to take my mind off it."
This story is still weird to me. I'm not buying this for some reason. I still say it was someone famous, and this guy (if he's actually a person and she's not making him up) is helping her out with a story.
ReplyDeleteIf she's making this up, she probably gave the famous guy a chance to step up. And he didn't. Go figure.
Minnie Driver rubs me the wrong way, always has. I don't like watching her at all.
ReplyDeleteI think he was married at the time, and probably just got divorced, so now it doesn't matter, at least to her.
ReplyDeleteI was reading the Daily Mail and it said Minnie was a result of her dad's affair. Apple > tree.
I believe the guy may have been married at the time and she protected him. I'm sure it wouldn't be too hard to figure out who based on how fair that child is if someone was aware of who the writers were and what they looked like.
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed The Riches, at least it went out on a high note, instead of being milked to death.
@Em That is exactly what I was going to post!
ReplyDeleteBased on the picture of the kid it looks like dad was Larry from the Three Stooges. What's with that hair?
ReplyDeleteI like how she kept it private-see big mouth actors, it can be done- and I really don't see why anyone wants to know who the father is. How will that info possibly enrich anyone's life? She keeps low pro, takes care of her son, I like that.
ReplyDeleteI don't see the point of kinda sorta commenting on it now especially considering she's still not naming names. She could just say that she doesn't like all the speculation and that she is keeping it private.
ReplyDelete@Sherry: No kidding! What's up with that head?
ReplyDeleteHard to believe Minnie was the romantic interest in "Good Will Hunting." Maybe the father was that guy with the ponytail?
wow, little wonder she keeps details to herself with judgemental comments like a couple of these. And as for why she's talking about it now, the Observer probably asked her.
ReplyDelete"What's with that hair?" - it's curly. Like his mother's. That happens to hair if you're really lucky.
What is wrong with you people?
zelda, I really like you.
ReplyDeleteI don't think it's the hair, but the hairline that is odd on this kid. It looks as if a whole section of his hair is missing.
ReplyDeleteI don't think anything is wrong with his hair line, it's just bright sunlight. See also: the shadows on his mom's face. He's cute as a cupcake in my book.
ReplyDeleteI loved The Riches. Hated it got cancelled. Apparently, the father didn't have much involvement with the kid until recently. Didn't some people say he broke off the relationship when he found out she was pregnant?
