That's just plain weird....
ReplyDeleteBut I had a lot of hair...but no not that much
I don't know what to make of this child. She doesn't look real. I hope I'm wrong, but so far she's favoring him and not her mom. If that's true, sorry kid. Contact Billy Joel's daughter for sympathy.
ReplyDeleteAwww baby's first wig.
ReplyDeleteIts true! Black babies come out with a full head of hair, and it naturally curls up over time!! :D
ReplyDeleteI had a ton of hair when I was born. The nurses put my hair in two little Pebbles Flintstone ponytails when my parents took me home.
ReplyDeleteLooks like the Knowles genes won out.
ReplyDeleteAdorable baby. My kids also had that much hair, but it was blonde, so wasn't so startling.
ReplyDeleteMy nieces and nephews, along with both of their parents, were virtually bald until they were 3. It sucked for my nieces, because most people thought they were boys even though they were decked out in pink and purple.
ReplyDeleteHow cute is she, though? Makes me want another one.
ReplyDeleteAhh I love the picture of them Bey looks happy.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if she will keep all that hair, or will it fall out?
My two children (mixed race: Asian and white) were born in San Antonio, and they were BALD; the Hispanic babies there: FULL heads of thick, luscious black hair (looked alot like B&J's baby). And the black babies were absolutely darling with their little Afros (I didn't see any
ReplyDeletestraight-haired Afro-American babies so I'm not sure what Janice means...).
@nolachickee: at least Alexa got BJ's talent as well as looks...
Beautiful picture of Bey and Baby, but she sure does look amazing to have just given birth. I looked like crap and a half after my babies births.
ReplyDeleteDid someone mistake bey's merkin for a baby wig?
ReplyDelete@nolachickee - I agree with everything you said.
ReplyDelete@Karmen - my daughter was the same way & one of things I was most excited about, about having a girl was doing her hair! By the time it grew in she was having none of that.
She looks a lot like Solange. Unfortunately that's almost as bad as looking like Jay.
ReplyDeleteI've noticed that babies favor the dad at birth and slowly start to look like mom...I'm praying for you Blue.
ReplyDeleteMy son was born with a full head of hair and then 3 weeks later it all fell out - was bald for months and months.
ReplyDeleteMonstersInc.......I don't think Beyonce needed to worry about that..
ReplyDeleteFrom the article I read they're not sending these out as if they're just post birth, but it's at home a couple of days after the birth.
ReplyDeleteThis is a couple weeks after the birth. Wow what a pretty little baby and THANK GOD she looks like Beyonce.
ReplyDeleteI was actually really surprised how much I can TOTALLY see both Beyonce's & Jay-Z's genes in that little baby's face!
You guys are crazy I don't think the baby is ugly at all!!
ReplyDeleteDid they borrow Suri's VF Chinese Elvis wig?
ReplyDeleteI agree with Janice I'm black and had a full head of straight hair when I was born. It's really all about genes not all African American babies have Afros.
ReplyDeleteShe's a pretty cute baby.
ReplyDeleteFor those of you who has never been around many black babies they generally are born with straight hair and it does fall out then their true texture comes out but its not uncommon I wish I could post a baby pic of my self...Plus that child is all Tina Knowles her creole genes always seem to win in her grandchildren just look at solanage's son...
ReplyDeleteMy kid is mixed (Black and White) and was born with a full head of hair. We've had to get him haircuts since he was about 4 months old because otherwise he looks like a girl. The baby is cute, looks like Jay though.
ReplyDeleteWell that shoots the whole was-it -fake-pregnancy thing done, because this baby looks just like her daddy! And yes, scientists have found babies do look like their daddy's when born so daddy will bond or , you know, not eat them, like some animals in the wild do, lol.
ReplyDeleteOh, and my baby girl causasian and was born with head full of black curly hair, big dark eyes and and dark skin. By three months, eyes turned baby blue, hair fell out and grew in blonde and skin lightened up! So ya never know!
ReplyDeleteauntliddy, the 'fake pregnancy' means they used a surrogate with Bey & Jay's egg/sperm.
ReplyDeleteSo looks tell you nothing about who baked the baby.
That baby looks like a light skinned Jay Z. Yes black children's skin color changes after they're born (I was born choc brown and now I look like a latte) and they can have straight hair. Sometimes it takes a bit for the curl to set in.
ReplyDeleteOf course she had a surrogate. Why lie? It was so obvious. They're nothing but a couple of stunt queens. Btw, what baby has SIX nannies?! Unless one is Basement Baby and the other is the surrogate...oh yes I did.
The Missus said up top "Aw, baby's first wig."
ReplyDeleteIt made me laugh but it also made me wonder---Beyonce is so much about the fake hair, how long after Blue's natural hair comes in before Bey starts straightening or coloring it? How long will Blue keep her natural hair, I wonder?
I know it's a strange question, but Bey is SO superficial and self-absorbed, how long will it take before she starts messing with her child's looks?
Sorry if it's rude to speculate such things. I don't know very many babies, and certainly not A-A babies with mothers who are SO rich & self-absorbed. Anyone here ever witness a mother who alters their child's hair? How young do they start?
(I'm talking about dolling up lil girls for real life, not for pageants.)
I've been reading other boards and people who have had children are saying that B.I.C. is older than than she is supposed to be in those photos. In other words, the surrogate had the baby a couple weeks before she was "born" in the hospital.
ReplyDeleteI should mention that in MY day (cough), a child's hair was NEVER colored until she was like 16. Bleaching toddlers' hair seems like a CPS issue to me--but they put it on t.v. and now it's normal.
ReplyDeleteWhen Jonbenet was killed, most people in the US were shocked that she was already a bottle blonde at SIX! Now everybody's doing it....I'm so out of touch.
@Monstersinc, they don't like you to wear nail polish in case you have to have an operation. They monitor your oxygen and blood flow by how your fingernails look, as well as all the instruments.
ReplyDeleteWe can't tell a baby's age by how they look. My boss had a son who was off the charts with his growth. When I was in pathology and used to take the blood from babies for the bilirubin, there was no constant, they all look so different. I am on the surrogacy bandwagon however.
I have no doubt this baby will have what is called "fine" hair. Generally if hair is going to be nappy it is evident at this point. Before you all start jumping all over me with the stereotyping crap each of my parents had a white and a black parent, and my siblings and I have married all over the racial rainbow and we have seen lots of babies born over the years.
ReplyDeleteHaving said that, Libby this is this baby's natural hair.
ReplyDeleteGrace, I KNOW that this is her hair now, most babies 'birth hair' is totally different than what they end up with, and that most A-A babies are born with straightish hair.
ReplyDeleteBut I'm curious of anyone has seen wealthy A-A mothers who dye or change natural afro hair, and how early.
Sorry, I just hate that ALL women are told their natural qualities aren't good enough, but especially natural afro hair on Black girls. ALL ethnic/racial groups in this country seem to be starting their girls younger & younger at the beauty shop, and it makes me fearful for their self-esteem.
I was just curious, since I'm so sheltered about kids, if anyone has seen mothers changing their daughter's hair at ridiculously young ages. How so & how early, if anyone has seen it.
Who cares about looks?
ReplyDeleteWill she be a good person?
people are so superficial.
Well, I can only speak from my experience and I won't quibble with some of the generalities you state. I think overall that dye jobs on children are highly, highly frowned upon and not a common practice in Black families. Like most kids when they reach their teens all bets are off as to what crazy stuff your kids will do to their hair. On the other hand using heat treatments is a time honored practice as it is by many females. There is a longstanding, ongoing debate about the use of chemicals to relax hair between Black females altho I believe the trend has been moving away from it for a few years now. Blue's hair looks like one of my sons and at 27 it is as it has been since he was a toddler, soft, loose black curls and nary a frizz...ever. We have a favorite story about him when he was about 13 and finding himself. He was at that time calling himself either JAZ (his initials) or Negro John ( self given nickname) and he came to me and asked "When is the Afro coming Mama"? I looked him in the eye and said...It ain't...ever! He still once in a while lamented his good friend Ian, who is Jewish always had a bad ass 'fro!
ReplyDeleteI was born with dark hair long enough for the nurses to tie in a pink ribbon when they brought me to my mother. Meanwhile, my poor niece was practically bald until she was almost 3.
ReplyDeleteI think the baby looks like JayZ in the second pic.
@libby --Bleaching/straightening a child's hair sickens me, too. I also think it's a little grotesque when babies have pierced ears. Let them decide those things for themselves later on, you know?
ReplyDeleteI also think it's absurd to assume that the head of hair this baby has right now will mirror the texture she'll have in ten years. I was bald like Dr. Evil until I hit three, and there's now a thick, wavy fountain erupting from my head.
A lot of curly-haired kids are born with fine, straight hair. I predict Blue Ivy will eventually have ringlets like the ones her mom sports during her downtime.
And yes, she DOES favor Beyonce. She's not as cute as Mariah's twins, IMO, but she's awfully pretty already. *Too* pretty to be only a few days old in those pics...
P.S. I think Alexa Ray Joel is totally gorgeous. :-P
Color me biased, but my son was very alert from the moment he was born, wide awake and looking around. Granted he was a c-section baby so he didn't get all squished.
ReplyDeleteI think it's so hilarious that people are so hellbent on saying Beyonce didn't carry this child herself. I think she could put up a picture of baby Blue actually coming out of her vagina and people would argue that she hired a stunt vagina.
Whoever actually birthed her, she's definitely their kid; right now, based on the 2nd picture, I'd say she favors Jay, but time will tell. She might be a newborn in the first picture (those look more like hospital blankets to me, and most people don't seem to swaddle the kid up like a burrito once they get home), but she's definitely older in the 2nd one. She's a cutie for sure, though; here's hoping she grows up healthy, happy, and beautiful inside and out. :-)
ReplyDeleteSomething else that just occurred to me: Has Bey been getting her hair colored all along over the past few months? Don't they discourage that now, or are the rules different if you're a celeb? I've known a number of women who ended up w/roots from hell by the time their babies were born, but that doesn't seem to be the case here...
ReplyDelete@gracehatter, that's an excellent story!
ReplyDeleteI have two friends, one white, one black, both have afros and they often pose together.
since seeing the photos of her the other night when she was out, I have to say i think that's a (ROCKIN') post-baby body. her breasts defo look like she is feeding tho I know there are ways to encourage the milk to come even if you haven't given birth but surely if she didn't want to birth the baby she wouldn't want to feed her? i dunno, i think this question is so weird.
but that such a gorgeous baby
ps I think Jay Z is really handsome, i saw him in person in sydney a few years ago and other than being really really nice and generous, i thought he was real cute. Still think his music is rubbish though
I think no hair coloring for the first trimester....but I could be wrong.
ReplyDeleteYou are allowed to dye your hair while pregnant. Both my ob's said no problem with it. I lightened mine.
ReplyDeleteWhy the obsession with the habits of wealthy African-American mothers? I didn't know only rich black women could afford hair color.
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm sure Beyonce will tend to her childs hair the same way her mother tended to hers. And grannie is a cosmetologist.
Well, fake pregnancy or not, that is a gorgeous little baby and I hope she gets to have a somewhat normal childhood :)
ReplyDeleteBaby is adorable but that is a lot of hair!
ReplyDeletewhat a beautiful baby.
ReplyDeleteShe's a cutie - where ever she was 'baked.' My niece had a full head of hair like that at birth and it didn't fall out. It just grew and grew and grew...oy!
ReplyDeleteThere's a growing trend to salon vegetable hair dyes at least here in NYC-- not only for pregnancy, but a number of us are moving away from chemical dyes because of the stories about their long-term effects. BTW< the stories in the papers here said on Friday that these shots were taken shortly after the birth.
ReplyDeleteThis picture is FAKE. Look at Beyonce's hand. Not even touching the baby. Photoshopped. You can see the "shadow" effect. Beyonce just posed and they dropped in the baby.
ReplyDeleteAlso...that baby is NOT a newborn...no newborn has alert eyes like that. I also think the baby is of hispanic origin and came from a surrogate (collapsing prosthetic incident). Don't understand why they try to DUPE the public and just be honest.
In whose mind does this baby look like Jay Z? And also why is Beyonce blurry in the photo yet the baby is perfectly clear? I don't even think this is a real picture. It looks altered/photo-shopped to me.
