House Has Ben Canceled
It has been a good run for the series House. When the show ends at the end of this season it will have been on the air for eight years. Whenever I talk to people about House it seems they either have never watched House or they absolutely love the show and would not miss it. Oh, except for last season and this one. At some point they say it fell off the deep end and has never been able to recover. I say that it all began to suck badly when Jennifer Morrison was forced out of the show. I don't think anyone agreed with the decision, including Jennifer and audiences have turned away in huge droves since that happened. At least the announcement came in time for their to be a proper series finale and not just some show already filmed which would not tie up all the loose ends.
You're next, Grey's Anatomy. Or, you SHOULD be.
ReplyDeleteThis season has been pretty good. Huddy was the show's downfall. It's so much better without Cuddy.
ReplyDeleteIt's time, actually it ran a few too many years...
ReplyDeleteWho is Ben?
ReplyDeleteI use to watch it religiously for the first 4 years, but then I just got tired of the character. It's time to say "buh bye"!
ReplyDeleteI agree -- it shouldn't have lasted this long. I have loved the show, but I stopped watching regularly around the time of Huddy. It started going off the deep end a little before that, but the shows were still well-written and watchable until more recently.
ReplyDeleteIt used to be must see in our house. I grew tired of it about 3 years ago. It became too redundant.
ReplyDeletePatient with mysterious illness.
House is an ass.
Run terrible tests and begin treatment for wrong disease.
Almost kill patient.
House has an ephipany from some off the cuff comment from someone and saves the patient.
Intervenes with new treatment and saves the day.
blah blah blah blah
Yes, jumped the shark years ago.
ReplyDeleteHaha, @selenakyle I thought the same thing - I think Enty meant to write "House has been cancelled".
ReplyDeletePoint of order... it was not cancelled, Hugh Laurie and it's creator (name escapes me) are ending the series as Laurie wants to do other projects.
ReplyDeleteSemantics I know but still.
I've never been able to watch it. Not fond of angry looking doctors.
ReplyDeleteI'm one who watched up until they killed CTB and Kutner. They were messing with the characters so much that I just got tired of it all. I did, however, start watching again a few episodes ago. It's still better than a lot of things out there, but it's had a good run & it's time to end things on a semi-high note. I'm not expecting much from the finale, because it wouldn't be "House" if House changes his ways. As long as they don't kill anyone at the end, I'm good.
ReplyDeleteMy honey got me into this show and I've been catching up on the first seasons.
ReplyDeleteHe is so hoping that there is some Fry and Laurie inside joke in the last episode!
I stopped watching years ago when he went through the whole "rehab/no-rehab" crap. I love Hugh Laurie but it just got to be too much for me.
ReplyDeleteI knew...just feeling like a smart-ass today :)
ReplyDeletethis is just about money. Hugh's contract ran out at the end of this season and Fox doesn't want to dump a ton of money on him for a new contract.
ReplyDeleteFunny--I have never watched one epi of House. I'll prolly catch it in syndication, tho, which is how I see any regular-network series, eventually.
ReplyDeleteLike 30 Rock at 7:00pm on Comedy Central--LOVE IT! Didn't know what we were missing all those years it was on regular TV.
And yet, the amobea and parasites of the Real Housewives of ___________(INSERT CITY HERE, Basketball/Football/Baseball wives baby mamas, Bachelors and Bachelorettes, continue to be on TV...
ReplyDeleteI agree - stopped watching shortly after Jennifer Morrison was let go - the original cast was the best. Subsequent cast changes were detrimental. 13 anyone? LOL. Glad it's ending.
ReplyDeleteCan't stand this show. It's so unrealistic about how a real hospital works. It's like some kind of cartoon. Although I like Hugh Laurie personally, this show really sucks. Unfortunately my husband loves it.
ReplyDeleteI stopped watching after 3 seasons. It was the same shit over and over. I got bored.
ReplyDeleteThis is a P.S., my friend had the biggest crush on Hugh Laurie in his House role, then she saw him on SNL, well hearing him speak with his english accent cured her real fast....funny it usually works the other way round.
ReplyDeleteThirteen/Olivia Wilde killed it for me. Can.Not. STAND her!
ReplyDeletemy sister is probably gonna cry a little when i tell her this...she absolutely <3s House
ReplyDeleteOne good thing is that it leaves room for Terra Nova to be renewed. It got better in the last few episodes.
ReplyDelete@nunaurbiz - In one episode, House had "Blackadder" on his DVR, IIRC. ;-)
ReplyDeleteIt's not been the same for me in the last two seasons or so. Jennifer left, then Lisa left, and I just don't feel the same. I also have class on Monday nights, so I've literally only caught two epis all season...and I can't believe I'd ever say this, but I don't really miss it. I am a dedicated HL fan, though, but I'll look forward to his new projects.
The last season with Jennifer Morrison didn't make much sense and I don't like the way her relationship with Chase was handled. There was no reason to make her such a cold bitch.
ReplyDeleteI didn't like Hugh Laurie in the role, he will eternally be Bertie Wooster to me.
ReplyDeleteI guess they ran out of crazy medical problems to base the episodes on. I didn't want Kumar to die.
ReplyDeleteI've always thought this was a very good show, especially in that it is INCREDIBLY forumalic, but the dialogue is good, and Hugh Laurie is a fanstastic actor w/ fantastic supporting cast, esp Wilson. But, they always needed more characters to keep things interesting, not a revolving team. It became a broken record, and the new team was less interesting than the old one. Then came the shark jump: House crashing into Lisa's house, which was attempted vehicular manslaughter, yet, he ends up back at the same hospital in same position the next season?! Just no. Insultingly, NO. And, Omar sucks as the hospital admin.
ReplyDeleteToo bad the show goes out like a rag instead of a flag. I loved it initially, but it has been awful for the last few years. Lisa Edelstein's departure was a welcome one, but the show still sucked even with her gone.
ReplyDeleteAt least Hugh Laurie, Robert Sean Leonard, Omar Epps and Jesse Spencer have probably made enough money from the show to retire on.

I stopped watching years ago for this reason. Great writing, Great acting, great timing, great everything but PLOT. It never ever changes. I watched the rehab shows because they were different and was blown away.
Jennifer Morrison's new show, Once Upon A Time, is addictive viewing in my house. Just don't ask me how I watch it, not released in Australia yet.
ReplyDelete^^"I'm one who watched up until they killed CTB and Kutner."^^
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry, I watched the show back then but I don't know who CTB is.
WUWT, ctb is Amber ie, cut-throat bitch.
ReplyDeleteOh, AMBER! Thank you. I would not have figured that out. I liked her dynamic with Wilson better than Wilson getting back together with his former wife. About then I quit watching (well, they changed the days of the show) but I'll eventually catch up on DVD.
ReplyDelete@TimeBob I agree with you about Terra Nova. Hope they renew it!
ReplyDeleteI mostly watch House in syndication so I missed the Jennifer Morrison drama. I'm a fan of hers but thought she was awful on How I Met Your Mother. Her new show is must see tv for me.
Now if they'll only make up for the horrors of Huddy by having House and Wilson get married on the series finale.
ReplyDeleteNo, I'm not smoking anything, why do you ask?
Well, Hugh kind of hinted that this might be the last season on Conan recently.
ReplyDeleteI've still been watching, but it's just never been the same since they got rid of Dr. Cameron & Dr. Chase.
I didn't mind the Huddy relationship but my favorite moments of the show were with House & Wilson, anyway.
