Cancel The Wedding Last Minute But Vacation Together?

Jason Campbell is now the quarterback for the Oakland Raiders. Well, he was until he was hurt in the middle of last year. He was single then and he is single now because he and his just about to be married bride called off their wedding a few hours before it was set to begin. The couple were getting married in the Dominican Republic and had 162 guests who either were from there or flown there for the wedding. Jason says he did not leave his wife at the altar and she said he did not and that the pair just decided to make a party out of the whole thing and enjoy an extended vacation/noneymoon. You like that? Just change it from an h to a n and there you go.

His almost wife is from the Dominican Republic. How about these for reasons? One of them is secretly married and could not get divorced or tell the other person until the night before. Umm, the girlfriend might not be a US Citizen and there would be some paperwork issues if they got married outside the US. Umm, Jason Campbell wanted to sleep with members of the bridal party and wanted to do it as a single guy and not cheat on his new wife.

  2. I don't know about these two but the secretly married fiance happened to my sister. Invitations had gone out, she had a dress, and a month before the wedding she found out he had a wife in the Philippines and everyone but her knew about it. He then wanted my sister to pay for the divorce so they could get married. Uh, no.

No, I did not like "noneymoon."

  4. @Cheryl - That's terrible! Your poor sister. I'd want to kill someone if they did that a member of my family.

  5. Whatever the story behind this is, I am glad they decided not to go through with the wedding. A friend of mine had a big splashy wedding out of the country despite her doubts. She only went through with it because all their friends and family had spent a lot of money to get to the country and she didn't want to disappoint them. I think she filed for divorce not to long after they got home.

  6. I don't think its the second issue - girlfriend not US citizen. If she has citizenship problems she would be stupid to leave the US. She could have just as easily planned a wedding at a US resort.

  7. Wonder if they have an Unexpected Babymama situation here?

  8. Or they may simply have changed their minds about getting married, but figured that since they'd already spent the money & had everyone there, they might have well throw one hell of a party! Seriously, if you're having any kind of significant doubts about getting hitched, don't do it--canceling a wedding can be a bitch, but getting a divorce is a MUCH bigger one.

  9. It's not as bad as that. Mike Wise, a sports writer with the Washington Post, tweeted his texts from Jason. They had decided to postpone/cancel before the date, and are still together. Jason has a reputation as a stand-up guy here in DC Metro.
