BuzzFoto Blind Item

According to a source, there is a very religious actor (probably B/C list now) that seeks out members of his faith in Hollywood and if they don’t follow the tenets of the faith, turns them in to local leaders.

  1. I would say Mad Mel, but he's permanently A-list.

  2. One of the Scientology freaks. Ribisi or a Masterson?

  3. Zachery Levi - I could be wrong but I don't think the "tenents of faith" is a part of scientology. Not sure.

  4. Laura, is Z. Levi part of some off base faith?

And think whoever this is needs to get more work. They obviously have too much time on their hands.

  5. "Tenets of faith" just means the particular customs/laws of a given religion, not specific to any one religion.

I hope this isn't Zachary Levi. He doesn't seem like he would be this kinda guy.

  7. @Greek God Diva - not sure about Zach Levi, he was just the first B/C (maybe more C?)list actor that I knew had a strong religious views.

  8. From Zachary Levi's wikipedia page:

Levi is an Evangelical Christian and has been since childhood. In a 2002 interview with Relevant Magazine, he said, "My job on my set, I believe, is to first just love people and gain that trust with people where they know that I really do love them and care about their well-being, so that when they are running into problems, they will hopefully, at some point, come to me and ask me, 'What is your peace all about? What is your comfort all about? Where do you get your love? Where do you get your talents?' And I can turn to them and say without blinking, 'Jesus Christ.'"[18]

  9. Two well-known, quite religious actors who come to mind are Neil McDonough & Jim Caviezel, who have actually turned down parts because they felt a conflict with their religion.

  10. This sounds like a mormon to me -- mormonism has a lot of tenets to follow, and your local ward will follow up if you're not attending church. I'll go with Rick Schroder.

  11. How about Jason Lee and $cientology?

Your theory makes really good sense. The Mormons don't necessarily strong arm, but if a member turns you in to the local ward, you'll have the missionary elders knocking on your door in no time. Guess how I know that:)

  13. Sounds like a Scientology thing. I'm Catholic. If I turned someone in for not following the religion I'd pretty much be told it's none of my business by the priest or whoever I tried to rat on them to. The only thing they would suggest is to pray for them. And they wouldn't confront the person I turned in.

  14. How about Tom Cruise's cousin, William Mapother?

  15. @Surfer - Do you watch Justified? I was surprised to see the character that Neil McDonough is playing, knowing that I had also heard he turns down roles due to his religious beliefs.

  16. @surfer, Have you watched "Person of Interest"? Jim Caviezel plays a guy who kills someone on nearly every episode, of course he is the good guy and they are the bad guys.

It's a good show by the way.

  17. If Jim Caviezel knew what he did in my fantasies, his Bible would explode.

  18. @bits of moxy - no, I haven't seen that show (I watch way too much as it is, lol).

@DelRiser - I love Person of Interest. And you're right, it is pretty violent, but hey, he's not kissing anyone, so I guess that's okay.

  19. I thought Zachary Levi was Jewish.

  20. McDonough turns down roles where he his character is supposed to kiss/sleep with another woman. He's uber-faithful evidently (and lacks some ability to separate work from real life, IMO).

  21. Scientology seems the most likely as I can't think of any other religions that has local leaders that would be famous. Unless there are a lot of famous Mormons??

  22. Definitely Mormon. Whereupon you can be "busted" for such horrific sins as drinking coffee or cola, smoking, drinking alchohol, fornication, not storing up dehydrated food, etc......

  23. Jim Caviezel was my first thought. Mel Gibson is uber religious when it suits him, but I can't see him giving enough of a rat's ass to turn someone in. He's too wrapped up in his own crazy.

  24. All this talk about grown ass adults "turning someone in" is creeping me out y'all!

  25. Went to college with some Jehovah's Witnesses who told me crazy stories about other JWs who would "tell on" anyone doing anything questionable. It's like they racked up points for tattling on the other kids.

  26. If it's not a scientologist (and I have issues with calling scientology a religion, it's basically a cult...)

    Kirk Cameron.
    Very religious actor.
His propaganda movies have all been hits thanks to the churches, which would make him B or C list, even if it's not the usual ranking: he has definitely star power.
And the rumors that he's actually a closeted gay wouldn't contradict this story.

Zachary Levi (Levi is his middle name. Pugh is his last name) is a Christian but not a judgmental one. He is pals with Matt Bomer and did a video against gay bullying. He keeps his faith a mostly private matter, as anybody should.

If you're looking among Mormons, Jon Heder could be the one. Aaron Eckhart doesn't consider himself as a real Mormon anymore.

    1. This isn't Kirk, sorry. I grew up in the Pentecostal/Apostolic faith and it may be viewed as very different but there are no church elders hunting down sinners or rule-breakers.
This sounds like more cult-like behavior. We all know Scientology practices these methods of controlling followers so my guess is one of them.

  27. Christians in general don't have such a rigid hierarchy to 'turn someone' in to. Catholics do have a hierarchy, but they don't care about stuff like this (speaking from personal experience). This sounds like a Mormon, a Scientologist, or possibly a Jehovahs Witness. Then again, it's Buzz photo so..... (yeah, 5 dots for anyone who saw The Office last night).

  28. Relevant Magazine is for progressive Christians; I read it sometimes. I'm UU but I find progressive Christians like Levi kinda fascinating and HOT.

  29. Trust me it isn't a Catholic.A priest wouldn't care unless the person was confessing themselves. They would tell the tattler to not judge.

I grew up a Catholic. We use to have a kid that did this ALL the time. The priest told them that. We laughed like crazy. I got told on because I did not eat a fish sandwhich for a Friday in Lent. I ate a PB&J sandwhich. I told her peanutbutter wasn't meat at all so stick it. The priest told her to mind her own business and stop seeking attention in negative ways.

  30. @FS "Christians in general don't have such a rigid hierarchy to 'turn someone' in to."

I lived in a town that was heavily populated by Mennonites & all their different off shoots. "Spys" were sent out on Sundays to local parks & shopping malls to 'catch' patrons out sinning (you know, those terrble, evil crutches of fishing, swimming, picnicing) when they were supposed to "Celebrate the Glory of God" ALL friggin day. If they were caught, they were shamed in front of the whole congregation the follwing week.

Oh ya, "3 strikes, you're out" rule applied too. Kicked out & blacklisted from not only the church, but friends & relatives as well.

So ya, in short, Christians can be controlling shitheads as well.

  32. Oh great- another post where Mormons, Christians, etc. get bashed. YAWN.

Who cares? If the tattletale gets his lights punched out one day- this behavior will end.
