The Boozing Costs Paz de la Huerta Her Job
When people talk about Boardwalk Empire they talk about two things. How amazingly wonderful the show is and how Paz de la Huerta is drunk all the time. Just like Lost got rid of anyone who caused trouble, the producers of Boardwalk are not renewing the contract of Paz so say goodbye to Lucy Danziger. For the past year it always seems like Paz is in the news and not once has it been for anything good. She has been drunk everywhere, falling out of her clothes, getting in fights, and when you are not an A lister that kind of behavior is not going to be tolerated for long. I am going to miss Dabney Coleman next season. It is not like he gets a bunch of work either for me to see him in something else.
I wish a spoiler alert should have been in the title. I don't know this trick yet but want to watch Boardwalk Empire. Now I know something happens to Dabney Coleman. Ah well, my fault for not watching the series during its normal run.
ReplyDeleteshe was unhappy on her character also
ReplyDeleteI can't imagine there is a whole lotta work out there for her whether she was unhappy with her character or not.
ReplyDeleteHer character was interesting but Spaz ruined it by her poor acting. One of the most annoying actors I've ever seen - and just had no talent.
ReplyDeleteColeman was killed off at the end of last season....as for Paz she is her own worst enemy.
ReplyDeleteI don't watch the show, and I'm quite sure her antics should be a cause for firing, but I love her whole crazy persona.
ReplyDeleteMichael K is going to miss her.
ReplyDeleteSo was Dabney Coleman let go for the same reason? Is that why his character was killed off??
ReplyDelete@Ms Cool - yes, spoiler alert would have been nice! And now I know Dabney's going, too. Dammit.
ReplyDeletePaz is my favorite train wreck. I'd love to be a fly on the wall and spend a day finding out just what a mess she is. She intrigues me because people can't be that much of a mess... can they?
Can't wait to see season two. I miss cable. Have never seen Game of Thrones, and I bet I'd love it.
Game of Thrones is awesome new season starts April 1. Won't spoil anything for you but watch it asap.
ReplyDeleteWhen Paz said her baby died at the end of season 2 I knew she would be dunzo. HBO doesn't take kindly to spoilers from principal cast.
BTW this is a non-spoiler since the baby didn't die. Or did it?
I am about to start watching Boardwalk. Watching Oz right now. (I LOVE DEAN WINTERs!) & Game of Thrones..I am in the 4th episode of GOT and I am not feeling it. I love that "era" and violence but I dunno... getting bored.
ReplyDelete@Timebob, was ready to punch you for a second there! :)
ReplyDeleteCan someone tell me how Game of Thrones the show follows the books? I'm about 3/4 of the way through the first book ... when Season 1 ended, did it end where the first book did? I'd like to watch the show but I want to read the books first, KWIM?
ReplyDeleteGame of Thrones rules. Haven't read the books yet.
ReplyDeleteMay I just make another mention of Spartacus? The first season was one of the best I've ever seen of a TV show. The prequel was pretty dang good. Time will tell how the new season will be.
I am trying to get into the new Spartacus. Andy Whitfield was the shit, god rest his soul.
ReplyDeletesorry @EmEyeKay i'm a brat sometimes :)
ReplyDeleteI also love HBOGo love watching old series. Just watched all of Deadwood. I can't believe HBO just dropped it like they did.
Hell on Wheels on AMC is kind of like it, love that show too.
**Spoiler Alert:
ReplyDeleteI thought we already knew she wasn't coming back? They wrote her out of the show like 3 episodes before the finale didn't they? Hence Michael Shannon's character having to hire a live -in nanny for the baby?
@Lohan... it is totally her. effing gross. gag.
ReplyDeletewhen Nucky gave Lucy cash, I knew Paz' character was done. I am however, disappointed that she won't be back. I actually found Lucy to be a captivating cast member and loved her sad story line.
ReplyDeleteGame of Throne is very good, if I do say so myself. Does anyone know when the new season starts?
ReplyDeleteWalking Dead is great!!
Another great show is "Strike Back" on Cinemax. I highly recommend it.
@Sylvia Game of Thrones returns Sunday April 1 @9pm.
ReplyDeleteWalking Dead is back this Sunday (yay!)
Strike Back got renewed for a 2nd season so that will be back this year sometime also.
All good shows.
When *I* talk about Boardwalk Empire, I only talk about one thing... what a grossly overrated show it is.
ReplyDeleteMad Men 3/26
Game of Thrones 4/1
ChopChop - Yes, season one Thrones ends where the book ends. I'm watching without reading the books, and it is thrilling! (But I do have my book info on reliable authority.)
I can't even follow Game of Thrones. Boring. Love Spartacus. And Mad Men. And True Blood. And Boardwalk Empire. And Paz is a strange, weird looking girl. I won't miss her whiny character.
ReplyDeleteMad Men is the best television show of all time. The End.
ReplyDeleteGame of Thrones is AWESOME, but the books are a zillion times better than the show.
Boardwalk Empireeeeeezzzzzzzzzzzzzzz just never interested me at all, sorry.
But I sort of LOVE Paz, and hope she sticks around for a bit. Endlessly entertaining, this one.
Just rewatched Deadwood again too, and wish they'd have made the 2 movies Milch promised! HBOGo is the best thing ever.
ReplyDeleteEastbound and Down new season in like, a week!!
And Lucy Danziger was as good as Paz was gonna get. I read some about her past life as a rich brat wild child on a few other sites, and it definitely didn't endear her to me. At all.
@ Ida, I see your Mad Men and raise you Breaking Bad. Only show to give me a heart condition.
ReplyDeleteI miss not being able to afford HBO. Missed this season of Boardwalk Empire, True Blood. Never got to even see a tiny bit of Game of Thrones.
ReplyDeleteI find myself not recommending being broken[Typo .. but it works]. It really sucks and you are really repressed as far as pop culture goes.
@Electric Warrior -- Breaking Bad is THE BOMB (dot.com), but I just don't adore it as much as Mad Men. My attachment to Don Draper is stronger than the feelings I have for Walter White, though I *do* love a good antihero. It's a visceral thing. However, my respect for Vince Gilligan, Bryan Cranston, and Aaron Paul is tremendous.
ReplyDeleteThat infamous bowtie-straightening scene with Gus at the nursing home made me freak out and scream "HOLY SHIT! HOLY SHIT!" at my T.V. I mean, I love Downton Abbey, but it's never made me audibly gasp, you know? BB is an AMAZING show. I admire Gilligan for saying that the next season will be its last. It's going to leave a strong legacy.
@Ida: I've been trying to start watching Mad Men but it's so boring compared to Breaking Bad. And January Jones' terrible acting is distracting. I think we're on episode 4 or 5 ... tell me it gets better!
ReplyDeleteAlso, thank you @LMSaM! Does that mean I have to quickly finish book one AND book two before season two starts?!? That's one tall order!
ReplyDeleteI gave Boardwalk Empire a go through both seasons, but I kind of feel over it. It was gorgeous and captivating and exhausting and I do think highly over rated in many aspects. I thought Paz was fantastic as the goofy Lucy. But, I kind of think she was just playing herself in many ways.
ReplyDeleteMad Men. For the love of god, come back. Greatest show ever, IMHO. Love it more than the Sopranos. Just so much fascinating stuff and the characters are just captivating. Love it.
"That infamous bowtie-straightening scene with Gus at the nursing home..."
ReplyDeleteGAH!!! Why'd you have to remind me of that right before bedtime?! ;)
