Whitney Houston Is Broke - Drugs Are Expensive

Proving once again that no matter how much money you have, if you do a lot of coke, you can lose it all really quickly, Whitney Houston is out of money. Now, when I think being out of money I think about wondering how I can come up with $10 for gas to make it through to the next payday. When Whitney thinks broke she thinks about cutting back her spending on wigs from $10,000 a month to $2,000 a month. Plus, you know what? Is someone like Whitney Houston really ever broke? All she has to do is sober up for a minute or two and go on tour for a few weeks and she will be flush again. Actors and people like you and me do not really have that capability to go get that much money instantly, but someone of the stature of Whitney can get it that fast.

Apparently Whitney blew through about $100M. Blows my mind. Can you imagine spending $100M?

  1. She looks oddly like Mary Tyler Moore there.

Maybe because she's obviously had a lot of work done recently, which MTM also had. That's the thing about plastic surgery: it can make everyone look kind of alike.

Oh, and wasn't her drug of choice crack, not cocaine? I ask because crack is a lot cheaper, no? Which means $100M is a HELL of a lot o' whack.

  2. @Figgy, she DOES! I thought the same thing! (and she looks good, too.)

No, I can't imagine blowing through 100 million. Her stockings probably cost more than I've made in the past month.

  3. I can't imagine wasting that kind of money....I just think of all the good it would do..
I wonder if she ever set up a trust for her daughter...?

  4. I don't know if she could handle touring for even a few weeks. Is her voice up for that?

She could do some appearances. If the Jersey Shore kids can score thousands of dollars just for showing up, surely Whitney can rack up some cash.

Whitney, please get clean once and for all, woman.

  5. I would like for Fate to throw
$100M my way. I promise not to smoke, snort, or shoot it up my veins. I would have a hell of a lot of fun with it , help my family out,and set up a retirement account for my old age.

For those that say "money can't buy happiness", I say "It can buy peace of mind and that goes a long way to finding happiness."

Would producers be willing to take a chance on her? Doubtful. Her voice is shot, she is not worth the risk.

    I want that dress.

  7. her last tour was a disaster people demanded their money back.

She has limited options at this point. Yes, I believe anyone can blow through 100 million with no financial knowledge or sound financial advice. Plus parasites sucking off them for years. Equals coming up broke.

  8. Like Nolachickee I was under the impression that the voice was gone based on the reviews of her last concert attempts. So I don't think touring to restore finances is a viable option.

In her defense however I would point out that stars have managers, agents, entourages etc who all take a cut. Not to mention the tax man. So I suspect they got more of the $100MM than any drug dealer did.

  9. She could easily do a residency in Vegas like Celine.

You could do a bunch of stuff but you've got to put that pipe down first, Ms Whit.

  12. @Astrid, I think you're right--there are enough people who liked her in the 80s and 90s, as well as foreign tourists who would go to see her in Vegas.

@ardleigh, amen to that. Money does buy peace of mind.

She *could* do a Vegas thing but is she worth the risk? Would she show every night? Plus her voice is gone.

  15. Cocaine is a helluva drug.

  16. I'll qualify my previous comment--I DO feel sorry for her if she went into a drug spiral because her people kept her from having a relationship with that woman she supposedly wanted to (gorgeous Robin Crawford) if in fact that was the case.

It would not be the first time someone famous or "important" was kept from the person they truly wanted to be with, and then their lives became problematic afterwards.

Examples would be Diana and Charles, Princess Margaret and that commoner dude, etc. Not that Whitney is royalty, but she was pretty damn close back in the day, IMO.

  17. Way too many people had/ve their hands in her pockets. And she was a low bottom crack addict. I have no problem imagining her going through 10s of millions of dollars. I just hope it's not too late for her story to have a happy ending. I always loved her.

  21. Tour? Um no. She can't hit the notes like she USED to. Remember that concert she did in the UK. Ouch.

  22. I would like to thank figgy and EmEyeKay for the MTM reference - now I keep hearing the theme song "You're going to make it after all" and see WH tossing a beret in the air.

  23. So many people in this world who have more money than they know what to do with are just miserable. Do I feel bad for them? Hell the fuck NO!! People need to be thankful for all they have. So, now Whitney is out of cash and her voice is shot. Boo hoo. Plus, I wonder how well her "people" managed her finances throughout the years. Wouldn't be surprised if she has no idea where her money went while being strung out. It seems like every successful musician - even the put-together ones - have had the rug pulled out from under them with their money.

If the story of her being kept from her true love is true, you can maybe get an ounce of sympathy from me. But, what the hell? She could have worked some kind of arrangement out. I believe she was an addict or on the road to addiction well before hitting it big.

She looks good in that pic. Hopefully, she's getting it together. She was a disaster during her "comeback" tour.

  24. In addition to not putting down the drugs, Whitney has an attitude that I think makes it difficult to work with. At the height of her addiction - remember her diva attitude with Barbara Walters? "I make WAY too much money to ever do crack!" She has a Lindsay Lohan complex....thinks she's still got it but she doesn't.

  25. Are you kidding, I can't even imagine HAVING $100 million!

There's a lottery draw this Friday for $50 million dollars (not taxed). My husband and I both agreed we will hire a chaperone to protect us from us. We can both see us pissing away our money so we will have an accountant and a chaperone and probably a life coach and anyone else who can protect us from ourselves.

  27. Yes, I can imagine $100 mil, but I wouldn't be spending it like that. Or on crack.

    ReplyDelete
  28. @Susan -
what story about being kept from her true love?

    ReplyDelete
  29. Crack is actually much more expensive. it is packaged in tiny $10.00 bags so that it is more accessable to people. (compared to powdered coke which is almost impossible to find in smaller then $50.00 bags.)

People I know that have gone down the crack cocaine road have always blown through whatever money possible. so so sad.

  30. I am not particularly religious, but I do think there's a special place in hell for people who have the means to have done so much good for others, and instead lost it all on things like drugs.

No sympathy for her from me. Stupid selfish bitch.

  31. ms. snarky - Aren't there theories out there that Whitney is really a lesbian, but the powers that be made her hide it to keep her image intact? That's what I'm referring to.

    ReplyDelete
  32. What a loser. So much good that could have been done with that money.
