Scarlett Johansson's Mom Suing For Home Deposit Back
It must suck to go from the manager of an actress who makes millions of dollars a year to the manager of absolutely no one. Welcome to the world of Melanie Sloan, who is the mother and former manager of Scarlett Johansson. Melanie was fired two years ago when Scarlett married Ryan. Unlike the marriage, the firing stuck and mom has found herself trying to live off what she had already earned and probably hoping Scarlett will take her back at some point. Melanie tried to buy an apartment in New York for $1.4M despite not having any income. She put down a $130K deposit, but the bank would not give her a loan so now she wants her deposit back because she does not really have anything to live on other than the deposit. The sellers would like to keep the deposit because they feel Scarlett's mom lied to them claiming she was rich when she really is poor. You know, Scarlett has not done as well the past two years. Maybe she should hire her mom back.
Wow, her mom is pretty, and doesn't look old enough to have mothered her.
ReplyDeleteAnd that dress makes ScarJo look flat as a board! Where did her breasts go?
she does not look like her mom that much, but maybe that's just me.
ReplyDeleteScarlett needs to throw her momma a bone and hire her back cause enty is right, she really hasn't been doing that great lately.
A $130k good faith deposit? That is $125k more than I paid on a home when I put my offer in. Sounds excessive
ReplyDeleteFunny, I think Scarlett looks just like her mom...
ReplyDeleteIf It's the owners fault you get your deposit back....if it's the buyers fault... Good Luck with that...she wasted their time and they lost out on selling it to someone else....She will get back some but not all...
Ouch. Scarlett shouldn't disinherit her mother like that, especially if she needs to prove the provenance of her fun bags as the real deal. I agree her mom looks barely old enough to have had Scarlett..

according to some reports,Scarlett 's mum as manager was very difficult, always interefering in the director's work with his daughter
ReplyDeleteScarlet Johanson's career was more interesting 3 years ago but i don't think ScarJo is so interested by acting and her sexy image is a trouble for some directors (Fincher again gave an interview that he says ScarJo was very good in test but physically she wasn't Lisbeth)
Not to be crass but now we know where ScarJo got her voluptuousness (that she seems to have lost).
ReplyDeleteI am willing to bet that she could have qualified for a loan before the recent problems. The banks won't loan money to anyone these days unless you already have it in other accounts. Sad but true.
I think she looks like her mom too.
ReplyDeleteI too wonder why she won't throw her mom a bone. Maybe there's more to the story.
How has Scarlett "not done as well"? The girl just won a Tony not too long ago, and she's got The Avengers coming up in a few months. I saw We Bought a Zoo yesterday, and was pleasantly surprised by how strong her performance was. If anything, she's only getting better, and I truly think she's got staying power in Hollywood.
ReplyDeleteJust because she got a divorce doesn't make her a failure. Tsk, tsk. Sean Penn was a misstep, but it's not as if Ryan Reynolds upgraded. Sheesh.
I don't think she needs her mother as a manager. It was mature of her to cut that cord. I also think that Melanie needs to get a career, since her Stage Mother days are obviously far behind her.
It must suck to have your financial idiocy broadcast to the world just because you have a famous daughter, though. I kinda feel bad for her.
Oh, and I think her mom is hot! I can see where ScarJo gets it.
ReplyDeleteIn this day who puts down a deposit unless they are pre-qualified?!?!? That's just beyond stupid. ScarJo is not responsible for her mother. Tuff luck. No wonder Mom is no longer her manager.
ReplyDeleteMelanie probably told the broker the apartment was for her daughter, who'd be covering the price. (That would be the only way she'd even have gotten in the door to see the place. Who is this woman, after all?) When she couldn't hustle Scarlett for the purchase, the sale fell through.
ReplyDeleteYeah...Scarlett's career has really gone down the drain in the last 2 years. Maybe she should consider hiring her mom back.
ReplyDelete^^^Seriously, though. Why do you say that? I'm curious. She's got endorsements and projects out the wazoo. If anything, I'm already sick of seeing her face everywhere, and 2012 just began!
ReplyDeleteAnd Scarlett's the one with the acting career, not her mother -- who was known to piss off powerful directors and other people who attempted to help and guide Scarlett. How would hiring her mother back help her in ANY way?
i'm with elvira. get a job, mom. mothers managing children is a horrible idea. now, if scarjo wants to loan her mom some money, fine. but she's certainly not obligated to. there's probably a lot more to this story than we're hearing here.
ReplyDeleteIf she doesn't have a job to pay the mortgage then it's for the best that she didn't get the loan approved, hopefully she can get her deposit back.
ReplyDeleteI would be mortified if my personal financial info was leaked on the web.
Ms. Sloan should try to get a real job and allow her daughter to be managed by professionals.
Agree, Elvira.
ReplyDeleteI think that Scarlett's original nose is from her mom's side of the family. If you google her before plastic surgery pics that is definitely the nose she got from her mom. And her mom is pretty, just pointing out the pressure int today's world to look above and beyond.
ReplyDeleteWhy should she hire the mom back? Just b/c she's her mom? What if she was a crap manager? Now, helping her get an apartment, that's a different story.
ReplyDeleteWhen Melanie was representing Scarlett she arranged for the actress to star in movies like The Other Boleyn Girl, The Nanny Diaries and Scoop. After the actress dropped Melanie, Scarlett was starring in Iron Man 2. You did the right thing Scarlett. Although you should also fire the person that put you in We Bought A Zoo. At this point they should rename that movie to "We Bought A Zoo But Nobody's Buying Any Goddamn Tickets To See Us Do It."
ReplyDeleteThe Avengers deal, endorsement deals and Tony award winning play deal were all made under her mother's management period and 'difficulty' with directors as you put it really is a plus for a manager. It means you are butting heads with the producers for your client's interest.
ReplyDeletewow sloan eh? didnt she have her own management firm? sloan and something else... or is she the stereotype to the character on entourage "sloan"? hmmmm
