Sarah Harding Describes Beating By Boyfriend

Those of you here in the States might not know who Sarah Harding is but she is a member of the group Girls Aloud which is one of the biggest selling groups in Europe. Also in the group is Cheryl Cole who was the very temporary judge on X Factor here. Anyway, Sarah had a new boyfriend she met in rehab. They had been dating for three months and found themselves together in a hotel in Austria last weekend. According to Sarah she knew things were not going to work out so left early to catch a flight home to England. She missed the flight though and returned to the hotel where the pair got into a fight. He says that Sarah threw an ashtray at him and bit him and kicked him. Sarah says that he grabbed her by the hair and dragged her down the hallway and kept banging her head against the ground. He also dragged her around the room by her arm. At one point she kicked him and got him in the nose which started to bleed. He then rubbed his blood all over her face. Apparently he had been drinking again and was jealous that he was a rebound and not the real thing. Because both of them were injured they both face assault charges in Austria. Looking at her arm, I would say she got the worst of it.

  1. Three words you never want to hear in a relationship: met in rehab

And if you've been to rehab, you know the only thing to do if you get back to your hotel room and the bf has been drinking, is to get the shit out fast. Don't wait and throwing a f-cking ashtray at his head. Just get the hell out, and call security.

  4. ^^^^ exactly what I was going to say as well....creepy.

Seriously though, being in a relationship while in or just out of rehab can be very hard to make work. Having that person be someone in the same stage of recovery will make it nearly impossible. Also, sounds like there might have been a bit more than drinking involved. But that's just me

  5. Aren't you supposed to wait 6-12 mos after getting out of rehab to start a new relationship?

  6. I love Girls Aloud, by the way, and I live in the US. Aren't you supposed to not get into any serious relationship within 12 mos of being sober? For this very reason? Totally think she got the worst of it. Poor girl.

Well, when you date trashy loser guys...sometimes you get your ass beat. Next time pick someone without a record.

  8. I would love to see her embrace the cause of abuse. Focusing on being public about it could give her something positive to focus on (for her own recovery from depression/alcohol addiction) and could set a good example for girls. Unlike some pop stars out there (side eye to Rihanna).

I'm so impressed with how open and honest she is being in this interview! If this were a Hollywood celebrity, no way would they be honest about having also been drinking, and we wouldn't see the bruises. It would all be whitewashed and black and white, when the truth is usually much more nuanced.
