Sarah Burke Still In A Coma
Sarah Burke is by far the best female freestyle skier in the world. On Tuesday, the Canadian was training in Park City, Utah on the half-pipe course and crashed from her feet to her head. The half-pipe at Park City has been the subject of serious accidents before including one to Olympic Medalist Kevin Pearce who suffered a very bad brain injury almost three years ago and is just now getting on a snowboard for the first time since it happened. Sarah's husband had to put out a call for help to get to Salt Lake City from his home and was finally able to do so. Sarah is in critical condition.
Stay strong Sara.
ReplyDeleteCanada loves you!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ReplyDeleteThat's horrible! I hope she recovers. Why is the half-pipe at Park City so dangerous?
ReplyDeleteHope she wakes up soon!
ReplyDeleteCo-sign Diane. And when you see the half-pipe ski event in 2014, you can thank her for it.
ReplyDeleteI hope she will be okay! That is terrible.
ReplyDeleteI heard that she's in a medically induced coma, so they probably did that to relieve pressure on her brain.
ReplyDeleteApparently she landed on her feet, but then fell or bounced and this is what caused the trauma.
Keeping my fingers crossed for her speedy recovery.
Horrible. That possibility always scares me when I watch those athletes do their tricks. But Enty - how exactly do you crash from your feet to your head?
ReplyDeletePraying every day for her. From what we've read in the papers here in Toronto, her injuries were described as possibly "catastrophic".
ReplyDeleteSarah is an AMAZING person, this breaks my heart. PLEASE keep her in your prayers/thoughts for a recovery. She's one of the nicest, sweetest, most humane people alive - devoid of attitude and would do anything to help others. THIS is a real tragedy. Be well Sarah...
ReplyDeleteBeautiful girl, amazing skier. I really hope she comes out of this alright.
ReplyDeleteHang in there, Sarah--we're all pulling for you!
ReplyDeleteFor some reason my Google News page thinks I am in Alberta [maybe it is hoping Minnesota will finally request asylum from Canada??] .. so I am reading a lot of Canadian news right now. Saw this story today .. horrible.
ReplyDeleteApparently, she torn a major blood vessel and caused massive brain bleed. Very much hoping they got her into surgery in time. From the article, she sounds like a really special wonderful person.
Medically induced coma...not good. Hope the family stays strong. Went through this recently with a great friend of mine and he did not make it.
