Heather Locklear Mixes Booze And Pills - Hospitalized

Apparently that rehab stint Heather Locklear completed in 2010 did not stick. Yesterday Heather was rushed to the hospital after she mixed booze with her prescription medicines. I am sure she had a prescription for them right? The thing is Heather has never had any serious injuries unless of course you count working with William Shatner and Adrian Zmed every week on T.J. Hooker. I am just trying to guess the prescription meds she is prescribed. Maybe for depression? You know, because she has a pretty rough life. I understand depression can be inside and have nothing to do with the status you enjoy or the superficiality everyone else sees. With all that being said though I think she found a doctor to keep her high as a kite and she wanted to go a little higher and mixed the booze. She has had a DUI and rehab and has a daughter and she came really close to killing herself. Do you think Jack Wagner got sick of dealing with someone wasted all the time and finally left?

That, or she's very sad and self-medicating. Hope she's okay!

  2. Most other bloggers out there -- even the typically snark-filled Michael K -- have been very classy and kind in discussing this sad event. Hopefully, you're just an exception.

You are being remarkably insensitive about the nature of depression.

It has nothing to do with social status or the monetary blessings you may enjoy in your everyday life. It's a disorder that depends on your own body/neurochemistry. You don't need to have a "rough life" in order to feel as if you need to end it.

MANY rich and lauded people have fallen prey to suicide, or suicide attempts.

Show some compassion. You could have used a nicer picture, for one thing. Did Heather turn you down for a date or something? WTF is wrong with you?

  3. Sometimes its had getting older in the spotlight...and that photo is not helping.

  4. @EmEyeKay - I agree. She's probably self medicating.

But also, she is suffering from the Aging Hollywood Star syndrome. I think it's time to get out of Hollywood, and go live in NYC or somewhere healthier with less pressure. If I remember correctly, she lives in the Hills. Anywhere else she'd see herself with less judgmental glasses on. And maybe even, become lucid enough to be there for her daughter.

Pictures of her were on sites where she's getting her drink on viciously during basketball games, and friends were trying to stop her. Get her ass to rehab pronto!

  5. She's an addict. Addiction: a disease in itself. Depression is sometimes a symptom of heavy drug use. It's just a vicious cycle of pills. It's the one thing I have managed never to get involved with, and being a heavy drinker, I feel lucky I haven't met that battle.

  6. I hope she can get her stuff together for her daughter at least.

  7. I feel bad for her little girl. I hope that Heather can get the help she needs to be happy. I've always had the sense that there must be some self-loathing going on for her to be married to two rock stars (I'm talking promiscuity here).

  8. ITA, Elvira. Depression is a bitch and does not discriminate rich from poor. Substance abuse and/or self-harm with chemicals is often just the symptom.

  9. I totally agree that depression can hit anyone. Celebrity or not. Simply re-locating doesn't always do the trick. NYC is the LAST place she should go though. NYC is more pressure filled and fast paced than LA by FAR.

Heather -girl, get it together. When you hit that screen you are a polished world-class refined diamond of an actress, second only to the likes of Diahann Caroll and Joan Collins, in my mind. Drinking is an addiction just like any drug. Hope you decide to take control of your health and career and soon!

  11. Bravo Elvira!!! Very well said!

  12. I thought it was her ex, Richie Sambora, who either got a DUI or was in an accident, with their daughter in the car. Not Heather.

If you believe TMZ, she was prescribed Xanax, and was in a real funk about her on/off relationship with Jack Wagner.

Her issues are very real, and truly, should not be mocked.

  13. As soon as I read this Enty, I shook my head and said all the holier-than-thoughs will be along shortly to lecture us all on the perils of depression and will let everyone know you are wrong wrong wrong for posting this.
It only took two posts into the comments before they showed up.

  14. I found Michael K.'s post full of his usual snark. Not mean, but still snarky.

  15. I can see her being perscribed something like Xanax after the breakup. Having taken Xanax before, honestly it's a tricky medication. It's easy to take it and hours later not remember taking it and have a drink or two. I did that a twice and you can really tell the difference in how the alcohol affects you. I got very scared and needless to say am very careful now.
Anyways, my Point is that we don't know if this was an intentional over dose. In fact, to me it makes a lot of sense that she was self medicating and took too much. Very scary And very serious. Hopefully this will be a wake up call and she will get help n
I also agree with most commenters about the realities of depression and anxiety. Situational or chronic, they can turn a life upside down and inside out.

I hope Heather and anyone suffering from anxiety and depression is able to get the help they need and deserve and that they are able to live a happy full life

  16. Poor Heather. She must be in lot of pain. I hope she gets help and finds some comfort. Just so sad.

  17. Okay, Jessica. This ''holier than though'' assumes you've never struggled with depression, or have never known anyone who has. Lucky you.

  18. She just turned 50 and that's tough in Hollyweird. I really think she should relocate where a woman is not judged so much by her physical appearance. I really believe that is a major cause of her problems.

  19. Geeze ENTY, not enough bacon and booze lately?

  20. Ok--English major coming through. It's 'holier than thou', not though. IMO, Heather's in a tough spot. Just turned 50, not as "in demand" as she'd like, personal life in a shambles, etc. The fact that Hollywood, presumably, defines her is the fact that will be her downfall if she doesn't want to get help. Unfortunately, not everyone who needs help wants it. Rehab only works if one is willing to work for and at sobriety.
I hope for her own sake she gets help; it won't work if she's doing it for her daughter or anyone else. She's got to want to do it for herself.
OK--English major off the soapbox now. Carry on.

  21. Get better soon, Heather. I'm rooting for you!

  22. JoElla--well, he IS on a diet right now...

I know depression from the inside out all too well, and whether it's situational or biochemical (or, in most cases, both), it's a bitch to live with. I don't know if Heather meant to OD, or if she just got into a medication mix-up of some sort (BTW, most anti-depressants say not to drink while you're on them, although I did have a pharmacist once tell me that one drink was OK-"we usually tell people not to drink at all, because most people won't stop at one"), but whatever the story, I feel bad for her, and hope she's able to pull herself together and get whatever help she needs, for her sake and Ava's. And yes, getting the hell out of Hollywood would be a wonderful idea for her, but she can't just pack her bags and head off; she needs to find something else to do w/her life that makes her happy & is more fulfilling than worrying about getting older.

Hang in there, Heather...you can do it.

  23. @Megley, I know the correct spelling of "thou." I promise. Sometimes it's more fun to simply quote people verbatim. ;-)

  24. I'd save my venom for her doctor, who is (allegedly) over prescribing her meds.

Depression doesn't have to have a trigger. It can come from no where (at least, in my experience).

  25. I hope she gets better, an addict will only get better when they want to, it's hard being depressed, money, fame and beauty mean nothing when your brain is in pain, hopefully this will serve as a wake up call for her, she needs rehab ASAP.

  26. I'm not getting the blaming Enty for being critical on this? Heather has been at this for years and has a child. That to me means she needs to be held to a higher standard than even Lohan.

I suspect Heather has always done this kind of thing. She was married longterm to both Tommy Lee and Sambora, no exactly squeaky clean guys. Just probably catching up with her now.

I hope she cleans herself up and wish her well.

  27. This isn't the first time Heather has had an ambulance at her place, so she is either mixing her meds up (easy enough to take too much if you forgot you had taken them before) with a few drinks, maybe some cough syrup to help sleep etc. Isn't that how Heath Ledger died? It is frighteningly easy to overdose by accident. I just hope she isn't doing a dry run to test her limits for next time. I really like her and hope she gets well and gets help.

  28. I'm with Elvira.

Cecilia, I think it was the "You know, because she has had a pretty rough life" line. That struck me as extraordinarily flippant and insensitive if she is suffering from depression. Of course we don't know what's going on, but some of us who have struggled are sensitive to this stuff. I accept that.

  29. What kind of a thoughtless asshole writes this? Stay in your small, sad little life behind your computer slagging other people off. You won't be missed.

  31. Fuck you on your insensitivity to mental illness. Asshole.

So sorry for Heather Locklear, and hope she is able to rebound and get well.

  33. Just rereading some of the comments here and at other places. I don't think it is fair to blame the doctor because DR's can only make judgements on what the patient tells them. If the patient really wants to get better, they have full disclosure on all things they take, even over the counter stuff for colds or flu. I don't think this is an Anna Nicole Smith type situation here. And it also appears that someone is keeping a very close eye on her, which is a good thing.

I don't think she needs rehab because I don't think addiction is her problem. But I do think it might be a good idea to go to a place where you are monitored full-time and there isn't an open bar, and she can talk to professionals. She won't come out "good as new" because it doesn't work like that, but a couple of weeks away from the world does make you feel better and more able to handle whatever the original problem is.

I've been a fan of her work for years, so I really hope she gets herself together again. Oh, and not have a boyfriend for awhile. She doesn't seem to handle break-ups very well, and I know how that feels.

  34. I'm rooting for her, she was/still is a gorgeous looking person and how popular she is in any TV show she's in. Maybe she's not working as much as she would like to be. I know she's not working as much as I would like her to be :)
Turning 50 happens to many of us and we survive (insert eye roll here).

  35. The picture and the story both remind me of one Ms. Spears. Very sad. I hope she has supportive responsible people in her life that can help her through this.

  36. Surfer, remember, she had that hit-and-run with a "no parking" sign?

  37. Agreed w/ @Elvira & the others that don't appreciate seeing someones mental status taken lightly.

She looks absolutely lost, sad, scared... who knows what else.. in that picture. It's heartbreaking.

It is really sad to see someone make bad decisions repeatedly but mental illness doesn't give a f*ck. It is ruthless and can leave you incapacitated. Do you think I want my ex-husband to always remember me in those times when I'd stay in bed for literal DAYS? Forget about food or hygiene. I can only imagine this poor woman wants so.much.more for her life... :'(

Ahhh anyway, I truly hope she gets the help she needs and finds peace.
