The Full Ferris Bueller Commercial

I have been waiting five days to actually watch the commercial. I felt like Ferris was such a big part of my life that I really wanted to savor the feeling of watching Ferris all grown up. I have to say it made me sad. There is no joy and no love. Ferris is alone with no friends and looks dead inside. Did Jennifer Grey and Charlie Sheen end up with the happy ending and Ferris is the guy who never grew up? Now I wish I had not watched. Thanks Honda.

  1. No desire to watch it. I've heard his eyes looked completely lifeless. I want to remember Ferris the way he was. :)

  2. I watched it. And I liked it. Maybe its because I aged with Ferris so it fits for me.

MB does come off a little more gay than he used to though.

  3. I really, really wanted to see Alan Ruck, and the girl who's name I can't remember. maybe they'll make another commercial..

  4. I didn't think it was that bad.

  5. No way does Ferris end up owning a Honda CRV. This should have been a commercial for Lexus or Jaguar or a higher end car.

And what it really needed was a cameo by Charlie Sheen at the police station.

  6. But he's not playing Ferris, he's being himself who is trying to channel his old character of Ferris. Which yes, is sad in itself but it is easier to get that MB is a no soul, lifeless shell, & okay with selling out, rather than the beloved Ferris that we all love.

  7. The girl was Mia Sara.

  8. Vicki has the right idea. If you loved Ferris Bueller, do not watch this ad. I wish like hell I hadn't. It will fill you with a sadness that will haunt your dreams.

  9. @ktheletter has the right idea. its NOT Ferris. He's playing himself. That's where they went wrong. They should have committed to reprising Ferris or just gone a different way. The hybridness of it is where the problem lies for me. He's playing himself, doing Ferris type things. He's NOT playing Ferris.

    But I still liked it.

  11. Oh, and Enty,
This is how a lot of us feel when you post those videos that you claim to be hysterical and are not.

  12. What Seachica said. Come on! I drive a Honda! How boring!

  14. I'm with you Bnl. On one hand I liked it, but also agree it should've been done differently.

  15. A little Mia Sara and Alan Ruck would have given it more life, but I still enjoyed it.

  16. I think it's very good. It is funny in an ironic way.

  17. I loved it, but maybe I'm biased because I own a 2005 CRV and I.LOVE.MY.CAR.

There was something cheeky about it, as if MB is saying 'don't take this seriously, just enjoy the moment of nostalgia with me'. The article on Yahoo took the whole thing way too seriously.

I got a real kick out of it, and I loved Ferris. MB is showing more emotion than I've seen him show in years. Dead eyes, yes, but his face is moving.

  19. He just looks so lifeless and sad...

  20. I loved it! Don't worry about friends Enty. He has a wife, children & a career, getting time to himself is the great adventure.

  21. I loved it too!

  22. Loved it.

If all you negative nellies would just watch it again, you'll find a whole lotta easter eggs in there as a tribute to the original movie (i.e. guy behind Matthew on the roller coaster is wearing Cameron's shirt).

It's brilliant, and I'll bet Honda forked out enormous sums of money to get MB to do it.

  23. ^ There's a guy in the museum wearing Ferris's fascinating white tee and vest ensemble too. I loved those little tributes.

  24. I would've liked it better if his face had moved. Actors: please PLEASE stop with the facial fillers/surgery/botox whatthefuckever. You not only look ridiculous, but it makes your performances seem especially terrible. I refuse to give my money to Hollywood stars who have gone overboard with the anti-aging. Case in point: I will never, ever watch "Cougar Town". What Courtney Cox & that chick from Drew Carey Show have done to their faces is criminal.

  25. I loved it! That being said, I am slightly confused as the teaser listed stars from the original movie.

  26. It made me smile.

But, I do wish they would have gone with actually using the Ferris character (along with Mia & Alan) rather than MB doing Ferris type things.

  27. I liked it. But, I am easily amused.

  31. I thought it was awful. So disappointed. They could have done so much more/so much better. Disappointed that Mia Sara and Alan Ruck weren't in it. No Jennifer Gray wasn't disappointing because she looks totally different now (with her new nose) than she did in the movie.

  32. Like Chopchop said, I think the reason he looks lifeless is because his face can't move. :(

  33. I loved it! Sometimes i think people play the game "i hate everything so that makes me sooo edgy."

  34. I'm with Monica. It was cute.
