Former American Idol contestants Diana DeGarmo and Ace Young are living together and have been since the late summer. Hmm, weren't Ace Young and Taylor Armstrong really flirty when he performed at her daughter's birthday party? Anyway, it seems like Ace does not get much more work than birthday parties, but Diana DeGarmo is one of my favorite stories from Idol, and probably the only reason I am bothering to even write this post. To me, she and maybe someone like Frenchie Davis or Tamara Gray or even Kimberly Caldwell really took the opportunity Idol presented to them and made the best of it and made a career of their fame from the show. I doubt very much that Diana or Frenchie would have got all the Broadway shows they got if it were not for Idol. The thing is they know what they can and cannot do and how they can do what they love while making a career out of it. For the most part, former Idol contestants are all about, "I'm recording a new album," or "I am going to go in the studio soon and then go out on tour." Meanwhile nothing really ever happens. They just disappear. Diana makes a really good living and is a hard worker and so are Frenchie and Tamara who writes a bunch of songs and even Kimberly who realized singing was not going to happen for her so became a television host. I hate when people are given the opportunity of a lifetime and then squander it and blame everyone but themselves.
I don't care about either of these two, so I am going to take this time to share my thoughts on the voluptuous girl in the ad to the left. Where are her eyebrows? Michael K would lose his mind. Also, those puppies need some support.

Wow she's got that trying-too-hard face in that picture. It's like she's saying "Look at me! I'm in a picture with Ace!" Smiling as hard as she possibly can.

I saw the both in Grease on B-way last year- it was fun. Ace tea bagged me.

ReplyDeleteI'm happy for Diana if she's making a go of her post idol career. As for Ace I couldn't stand his fist to the heart pound when he was singing. It always made me think he knew he couldn't sell it with his singing of the lyrics so he'd pound his chest to show his sincerity.

Maja I meant I saw them in HAIR- der! Yes I was in the front row which is the audience participation area. His character was a big shaker of the nut sack in the face of anyone who was laughing. Lucky for me an old hippie friend warned me about the show before I went :)

ReplyDeleteI was never a fan of her on the show, but I've seen her in 2 different touring productions and she was great in both. Good luck to them both.
ReplyDeleteI suspect the RHOBH appearance was an acting appearance and not "reality tv." He and Diana have been together, on and off, since 2010. It wasn't even really a secret to fans who saw them together in NYC way back then. They both seem like good people, Diana is AMAZING on The Young and the Restless as Angelina, and I'm glad they're happy.
