As I told you earlier this year, Olivia Munn was offered the co-host job on X Factor and turned it down because the money was not good enough. Well, her manager turned it down. I'm not sure if Olivia even knew what he turned down. Anyway, it turns out that Vanessa Lachey auditioned to host X Factor, but they did not even offer her a co-hosting gig, they just turned her down flat. Vanessa says she is ok with Steve Jones hosting because since he is a guy and British, she does not feel like she lost out. Umm, Vanessa you did lose out. She says she is currently happy doing sideline commentary for Wipeout and her number one goal is to start a family. It is interesting that she changed her name, but Jessica Simpson never did.
She is just as boring as the British guy.

ReplyDeleteI mean guys like him would be considered tall and good looking (or so people tell me) and yet he did nothing for me. I felt nothing when he was on screen.
I think that she missed out on a huge opportunity by not hosting this.

ReplyDeleteI would guess that Jessica kept her maiden name because she is a brand. Lemonjello is not a brand, just a lady who did interviews on MTV.
ReplyDeleteI guess I'm just from the post-feminist era when to change your name or to not change your name is no big deal. I did, but I have friends who didn't, use one name professionally and the other socially, hyphenate...I even know of a couple who exchanged last names.

Manillo would not be good on that show.
@ Rita Okay I'll admit his accent is sexy but I'm a sucker for british accents so it's really any british person.
ReplyDeleteI think he is a sincere person (how cute was that moment with Jessie J and his outfit backstage) and I prefer him to Ryan Seacrest who has lost his touch over the years. But I just don't think he does a good job of being a host.
But in his defence it's difficult to be a host of X factor. The judges do so much of the announcing and anytime he tries to do his job and pushes the judges to vote or asked the judges questions, they ignored him or tried to shut him up. I felt like he tried to have a personality, they shut him up. Or maybe it's just my perception. And it's for this reason that I just can't seem to connect with him.

They should have pushed for Olivia Munn. She likes attention and doesn't mind pushing people out of the way for it. Which you need when "competing" against three judges who do the same thing.
ReplyDeleteAs for Vanessa, she makes for a poor choice. They need to find an attractive female comedian for the show. Someone that has a quick mind so can take advantage of the funny moments and comments when they occur. With Vanessa and previous co host, while great eye candy, they just are not quick enough or at least skilled enough at improv to take advantage of comedic moments. And not calling them stupid. Improv is damn hard and requires a quick and clever mind (god knows I don't have that quality).
Vanessa Lemonjello is HORRIBLE on Wipeout. I knew she would be, though, so I feel vindicated. She's nothing but an untalented starfarker who actually managed to get some has-been boybander to marry her. Yuck.
