Sean Penn Continues To Treat Women Horribly
Let me start this by asking you a question. If you spent three months getting naked with someone in front of movie cameras do you think you would remember that person 20 years later? What if that person was Maria Conchita Alonso? To me she is pretty memorable and I have never spent 30 seconds alone with her naked let alone three months making a movie.
On Sunday night Maria was picking up her mother at LAX and Sean Penn was on the same flight. Maria told a radio station that she walked up to Sean and said she wanted to speak to him and he said, "I have nothing to say to you. You have been saying a lot of things about me in the press." See, right there, Sean knew who she was so later when we get to his lying you will know it was a lie. Maria was born in Cuba and raised in Venezuela so has a strong dislike for communism and Hugo Chavez and Sean Penn happens to love them both. Last year Sean came out in support of Venezuelan dictator Hugo Chavez and maria called him out on it in an open letter.
At the airport the two began arguing about it and Maria called Sean a communist. Instead of keeping it civil and political, Sean immediately called Maria a pig. Good one Sean. Now I see why you have to hire most of your girlfriends. Maria then called him an a-hole and walked away over to her mother. Sean followed and continued to say nasty things to her and her mom who was in a wheelchair.
Sean's side of the story?
“I only knew that a hostile woman was nonsensically berating me. I didn’t realize it was that actress. I think I worked with her once. But she looks really different. She was uninformed and impolite to all the other passengers.”
He realized it was "that actress" right away. He is such a tool.
God he's a prick.
ReplyDeleteThis is totally off-topic, but speaking of treating women badly, have you guys seen the video of Andy Levy "apologizing" to Chris Brown for their twitter feud? I HATE fox news, but the clip totally made my day. Here's a link, but if you that doesn't work, you can google, "Andy Levy Chris Brown" and it should come up.

Well, communist or not (the Hoover era is way over, and thank heavens for that), Sean Penn is a known pig. A little Napoleon with a bulldog mentality that does not let go.
ReplyDeleteHe did a lot of good in Haiti, has put his money where his mouth is, but unfortunately he's an emotional terrorist, that you DO NOT have a debate with. Because he can't debate, he only berates.
Can't stand him, he thinks hes sooo brilliant and he really is a stupid pig of a man..
ReplyDeleteHe didn't waste any time getting out of Haiti after Oprah left I see...
ReplyDeleteHe's an asshole, literally. Shit is the only thing that comes out of him. Can't stand him.
ReplyDeleteWhat movie was he in with Maria Conchita?
ReplyDeleteHe's a dick. He should move to China or Cuba. Then he can have his wonderful Communism that he craves so badly. Let's see how long the "know-it-all" will last. I'd say Sean was the ignorant one. I'm team Maria.
ReplyDeleteAnd he will still get jobs and pats on the shoulders for being such a talented actor.
ReplyDeleteThey were in Colors together.
ReplyDeleteI think he's an ass, but I'm wondering why she bothered to even say anything to him.
Do you normally go up to former co-workers and randomly discuss their politics?
I realize they are both outspoken, but it seems odd to me.
^She took his support to Chavez as a personal attack, having lived in Venezuela and the pressure under Chavez's extreme autocratic presidency.
ReplyDeleteThat is why she felt necessary also to write an open letter. To underline what she considers Penn's ignorance on the situation.
"She looks really different."
ReplyDeleteThat's a nice dig at her appearance. Truly.
And I love how he has the nerve to use "hostile" as a way to describe someone else.
Ugh, it's going to sound like I'm defending Penn and truly that is not my intention, but why in world would Maria Conchita Alonso take this as a "personal attack"? I get that she doesn't have the same politics as Penn, but by their seemingly own admission they hadn't spoken in 20+ years. And to walk up to him and confront him about it at the airport? And calling him a Communist is keeping it "civil and political"? Sounds like they both feel strongly about this issue and perhaps blame doesn't necessarily need to be placed.
ReplyDeleteWell, I don't like Penn, but this seems like something this woman started.
ReplyDeleteAs for him remembering her, that's her side of the story. I wasn't there, so who knows?
ReplyDeleteAside from him being a pig (which we all know he is) she really DOES not look like she used to. Also, I worked with some actors 20 years ago and I doubt they would remember me either. Seriously, unless you're friends with them outside of that movie you have no chance to cross their path and you would not know them from adam. Just for another point of view.
ReplyDeleteHe didn't want to talk. Whats the big deal. She wrote and open letter and feels snubbed because he's STILL ignoring her; which he has a right to do. She should have left him alone.
ReplyDeleteTeam Maria.
ReplyDeleteWell, so much for the good will accrued from following thru on the work in Haiti. Now questioning whether it was just a photo op with Oprah. little showboating prick. Kind of like his hero Chavez. Funny how all the Hollywood fans of Chavez and Castro don't exactly spend a lot of quality time in Venezuela or Cuba. What a mystery, little big men who talk the talk but don't walk the walk.
ReplyDeleteRita, whether he "did a lot of good" in Haiti is highly debatable. A lot of sources report that it was all for PR and he actually did next to nothing. Which I totally believe, since I am prejudiced against this smelly, snotty, smug misogynist in the first place.
ReplyDeleteAlso, why is it that celebrities go nuts at the airport all the time? I think it's because it's the only place they encounter the reality in which the rest of us live. Being a "regular person" out in the world, without the presumptions and perquisites of celebrity, is quite difficult.
ReplyDeleteTexshan, he actually stayed in a tent during the whole time they were rebuilding. Like many others. And has been helping for months. Whether his interview with Oprah was a PR stint or not. Like many assholes, he is multi-faceted. And has shed light on a cause that shouldn't have stopped getting noticed, or forgotten.
ReplyDeleteStill think he's an asshole, no worries.
I don't think she confronted him. They were both in the same location and she took the initiative and said "hi" It went downhill from there.
ReplyDeleteThere were co-stars in COLORS more than 20 yrs ago. Why wouldn't he remember someone he worked on a movie with for a few months? Someone he got naked with on camera?
ReplyDeleteThat said,I met Penn for a minute or two last year. He is a dick. It was at a place he was filming one scene for a movie that will never be released. Or straight to video. You could tell the crew filming the scene hated him.
I don't know if this post tells the whole story, but I kind of think they're both tools for getting into a political debate in the airport.
ReplyDeleteI agree Susan, I think both were out of line and it does sound like Maria started it.
ReplyDeleteBtw, just because someone lived in Cuba doesnt mean they are right or wrong about Hugo Chavez and his politics anymore than it makes us the reigning authority on Bush jr. when he was president just cause we lived in the USA during that time.
There are a lot of things Chavez has done that I like, and I'm not so quick to just side with Maria because she was egotistical enough to take Sean's friendship with the Cuban leader as a personal attack, despite most likely having not seen Sean in 20 years. Sheesh
A co-worker and I just had to deal with a mean, bullying customer yesterday -- I just finished telling her that often people who lose it turn around and blame their target for "making" them behave that way. Two words: Terrence Howard. And then there's Sean Penn. *That's* why I'm so glad to see this publicized.
ReplyDeleteThis is news? Sean Penn has been a dick for his entire life.
ReplyDeleteShould she have called Sean a communist? Probably not. Responding to that by calling her a pig and abusing her mother, absolutely wrong on every level.
ReplyDeleteHe is a communist. When you empathize with Chavez and Castro, um, Communist?
ReplyDeleteHe's probably crying right now over the death of N. Korea murderer Jung-Sung-Il (I know, I didn't want to bother to look it up. I don't care what his name is, he is dead).
I'm team Penn on this one because whether it's an airport on McDonald's who wants to be accosted by someone you barely know. It's like when homeless people come up to you and demand money. If some woman came up to me talking $hit I may not have been as civil to her by calling her a pig, I probably would have called her a lot worse.
ReplyDeleteI'll second what @Texshan said - specifically this spot on description of him " smelly, snotty, smug misogynist in the first place."
ReplyDeleteHa!
I don't give a shit about what Sean Penn thinks about anything, but calling him a Communist is cray-cray. I mean, does he live like a Communist? Please.
ReplyDeleteIf you sympathize with and support, say, a Republican president, it would be fair to call you a Republican.
ReplyDeleteIf you sympathize with and support a communist leader, I think it's fair to call you a communist.
Sean Penn has chosen to make himself a political figure, so he's got to accept the consequences of that choice. No one cares about, say, Kevin Bacon's political leanings.
Eh. I don't agree.
ReplyDeleteAlso agree with Susan.
ReplyDeleteShe had to know that wasn't going to end well. And yes, he's a HUGE dick.
How did Robin Wright put up with him for so long? Is there something about her we should know? She seems so... nice and normal.
ReplyDeleteAs a footnote: the movie Colors, directed by Dennis Hopper, had small roles for Don Cheadle, Gerardo, and Mario Lopez.
