Richard Hatch Released From Prison

Yesterday Richard Hatch was released from prison. He has served about three years in total for failing to pay taxes on his Survivor win. The first winner of Survivor still says that he is not guilty and that he does not know where he will live or what he will do. In his most recent stint in jail, he spent about 9 months in prison because after being released the first time, part of the deal was he should pay the back taxes. He did not because he said he was broke so back inside he went.

  2. Your justice system is inherently fked if you keep letting murders free but somehow ALWAYS manage to jail people over taxes and selling senate seats. smh.

  5. Jax, it is the difference between Federal courts and State courts. The Feds have a much easier time gaining a conviction.

  8. I'm glad Enty explained that, 'cuz I could have sworn that a year ago I watched him on Celebrity Apprentice. Maybe less than a year ago. This past spring, I think. Was he on a break from prison to do Celeb Apprentice? Did he have to go back because he didn't win? I didn't watch the whole thing so I don't know who won. He was really full of himself on that show. Never saw Survivor.

  10. I always think its kinda silly that the major network can't shell out the dough and calculate things so they walk away with a million dollars after taxes. I bet this is why CBS won't bring The Amazing Race to Canada! No taxes on winnings!

  11. Abe Lincoln + Jesse James = Amish Gay Dude who doesn't pay his taxes!

  12. The system may or may not be flawed, but its always going to be easier to prove the case against the guy who won the money he didn't pay taxes on in front of an audience of millions, vs. the one against a murderer who leaves behind no living witnesses and no conclusive proof.

  14. I guess 3 hots and a cot in a Federal Country Club beat being homeless.

I helped convict someone of embezzling $236,000.00 from a small business in Detroit. He plead nolo and received, no time, a felony conviction, 5 years parole, restitution and could no longer work in an accounting position. He was working in another accounting position before and after his conviction. His wife got to keep the $30,000 in jewelry.

  15. So everyday Joe's should pay taxes (for schools, hospitals, education & all that, you know, insignifant stuff), but celebrities & the Leona Helmsley's of the world should get a free pass? All those in support of this douchbag can pay his share then, I pay enough.
