National Enquirer Blind Item
WHICH Oscar-winning actress caught her then-husband in the middle of a steamy gay encounter with his film’s young American co-star? The British couple separated soon after filming ended and divorced two years later. The couple has since remarried, but the young stud has never wed. Who are they?
Emma Thompson and Kenneth Branaugh (sp?)
ReplyDeleteOhh Patty that is a fantab guess!
ReplyDeleteBranagh and Thompson. Stud was Keanu Reeves. Film, Much Ado About Nothing. It was made in 1993, they divorced in 1995.
ReplyDeleteyup. i've actually heard this before about these two.
ReplyDeleteWait...did they remarry or did marry other people? The way this reads, they got back together, and the third party never married.
ReplyDeleteWAH, that guess has me crying....Kenneth Branagh is my intellectual fantasy. And I loved that movie.
ReplyDeletedid *they* marry other people.
ReplyDeleteOops.
Well, hell, that was easy. You know if they presented DB Cooper as a blind item you guys would get it in about 15 seconds.
ReplyDeletesince when National Enquirer recycles the old blind items? i think they talk about Emma Thompson/Kenneth Branagh even if for many people, Helena Bonham Carter was the reason of their break-up
ReplyDeleteKate Winslet and Sam Mendes? No idea really, shot in the dark.
ReplyDeleteWow, did not know this about Kenneth and Keanu! I thought he was straight. Huh!
ReplyDeleteEmma and Kenneth broke up because of Helena Bonham Carter.
ReplyDeleteI thought HBC broke up Tim Burton's relationship. I guess she is a busy little bee.
ReplyDeleteWell, that was the official line, that HBC was the cause of the Branagh-Thompson split.
ReplyDeleteCould be Branagh/Thompson/Much Ado About Nothing... but "steamy encounter" cannot be Keanu (he's Canadian, not American).
ReplyDeleteGood catch Dhara.
ReplyDeleteI thought they broke up because Helene Bonham Carter was the cause of their break-up.
ReplyDeleteDhara
ReplyDeleteThe United States is a country in North America, just like Canada and Mexico.
@Mario, have to disagree. American generally means US, Canadian and Mexican mean just that. I say the young guy is a Yank.
ReplyDeleteBut does anyone ever refer to Mexicans & Canadians as "Americans"? I thought that was reserved for those from the United States of America?
ReplyDeleteI don't think anyone refers to Canada and Mexico as Americans. If anything they'd be North Americans.
ReplyDeleteCanadians never, EVER refer to ourselves as American. EVER. North American, sure. Not American. If the blind says the actor is American, he's from the U.S.
ReplyDeleteActually, Keanu was born in Beirut.
ReplyDeleteWell, now I have to tell you my favourite joke about Canadians! It works a lot better when spoken, obviously.
ReplyDelete"What is Canada's most popular wine?"
"I'M NOOOOT AMEEEEERICAAAAANNN, I'M CANAAAAADIAAAAAAN".
HAHAHA Maja!
ReplyDeleteBut jen, excellent emphasis on the fact that you're NOT AMERICAN. We get it.
I'm going with the first guess.
ReplyDeleteI cannot NOT say this. I am not American and I would only say I'm North American on a grade 3 quiz. I am Canadian.
ReplyDeleteLet's not forget, Much Ado About Nothing is not the only film KB made that year (also I think we should open it up to 1992 and 1994), nor is Keanu the only young actor in that film. That guy from House is in it, Robert Sean Leonard. But I think he's married.
ReplyDeleteRobert Sean Leonard!!!! NOOOOOOO!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI'd rather Keanu (who I always thought was...)

ReplyDeleteThanks, Jolene Jolene!
ReplyDeleteI like the Thompson & Branagh guess...their divorce was so sudden and shocking (I was very into them at the time)!
ReplyDeleteI can see the Robert Sean Leonard thing, too.
