Janet Hubert was the first Vivian in Fresh Prince Of Bel Air. She or the other Vivian for that matter were noticeably absent from the reunion photo which was released last week of cast members from the show. When Vivian was asked by TMZ if there ever would be a reunion she said, "There will never be a reunion ... as I will never do anything with an a**hole like Will Smith." Janet still blames Will Smith for getting her fired when she was pregnant on the show and said he was a spoiled snotty brat then and is still one now. Well, at least she states her mind and does not back down. After ten years you can tell that firing still stings a lot.
She also says 'I've been in the business for 10 years and this snotty-nosed punk comes along and gets a show.'
ReplyDeleteI think it's he said/she said: he fired her ass for her snotty attitude, and she hated him and was jealous for simply getting a show, after doing nothing in Hollywood.
If he really did get her fired & I was her - I'd be super pissed too.

ReplyDeleteAnyway, Fresh Prince of Bel Air wasn't that huge of a show, and Will Smith was still getting his toes wet regarding acting, so I am not sure he really had the power to get someone fired. Not that I am defending him as I think his kids are spoiled and completely disrespectfull, which comes from the parents raising them
ETA I have never forgiven him for smearing gays at the same time he was playing a gay man. So yeah Aunt Viv, he is a brat.
Hmmm, it's hard to say. None of the other cast members seem to have a problem with him. She sounds very bitter, but she might be right to feel that way, who knows.

I can't imagine he would have or ever could have the ability to completely ruin someones career. Maybe she of channeled that anger into making a name for herself, with or without the Fresh Prince Of Bel Air.

ReplyDelete^I think Janet Hubert was one of those actresses who were classically trained, and were quite snobbish to all actors who weren't. Imagine her disdain when the Fresh Prince of Bel Air got a job almost right off the bat, without any proper theater training. Just rap and street cred.
ReplyDeleteWonder what she thinks of the Kardashians and the like. But yeah, you are right, 20 years is a long time to hold on to a grudge. Especially in Hollywood. If Roman Polanski is getting fawned upon, she should be able to leave the past behind, and even maybe get a job out of playing nice.

If she was pregnant and then unable to find another lucrative job like the one on Fresh Prince, I can absolutely understand being bitter towards the little shit who got her fired and then went on to make hundreds of millions. A friend of mine worked on that set. She was fired because she called Will a 'fucking faggot'. Let's not forget that will was not only the star of the show but a producer.
