George Michael Says He Almost Died
In a statement George Michael gave today upon his arrival in England from a 5 week hospital stay in Austria, George said that it was "touch and go" whether he would survive his battle with pneumonia. I have so much to say about this but just cannot figure out a way to say what I need to say without giving it all away. It is so frustrating to write about this. Hmmm. Did you know George Michael's doctor has also treated other singers?
In his statement George also said that he would not share everything that was wrong with him because he wanted to keep his family from some of it.
George almost cried several times while giving the statement and says this whole event has made him more spiritual and that he is a new man now.
Is he a world renowned specialist who treated a certain English singer who is no longer with us???
ReplyDeleteThis is sad. There's nothing else to say.
ReplyDeleteMontanaMarriott, for the life of me I can't think of who you're referring to with the English singer. Please spill!
ReplyDeleteEnty, this is one bit of gossip I'm not itching to hear. His health problems are his business. If you have some good George Michael was wild and crazy stories from the 80's, I'd be more interested in that!
Montana, was that English singer born in East Africa but raised in Asia and the UK?
ReplyDeleteEven though I'm not a fan, it does break my heart to see George (or anyone, for that matter) go through this.
I think MM is referring to Winehouse.
ReplyDeleteI think MM is referring to Freddie Mercury.
ReplyDeleteI have a neighbor who was so sick several Christmases ago, he went to his doctor and the doctor spent more time talking about his vacation and the new boat he bought, gave him an antibiotic and sent him home.
ReplyDeleteHe wasn't getting any better when a friend came over and said enough ! I'm taking you to the emergency room....they admitted him with pneumonia and he was in really bad shape for a while...but thankfully he's alive and well...
Stay well George and take better care of yourself..
I meant Winehouse, sorry guys.
ReplyDeleteWell I'll say it...HIV.
ReplyDeleteSorry, I thought you were going for a Mercury reference, too.
ReplyDeleteor it could be cancer, pancreatic is a silent killer and by the time you have symptoms (if you're lucky) the cancer has already spread and you have about 9 months to live.
ReplyDeleteI hope this makes him reevaluate his life and how he chooses to live it with all the risks he takes.
I assumed the other singer was Freddy Mercury. I'm sorry about George, it would be nice to see him in good health again, both physically and psychologically. Tough for him.
ReplyDeleteOh Jorge Miguel. :( I'm so sorry.
ReplyDelete"pancreatic is a silent killer and by the time you have symptoms (if you're lucky) the cancer has already spread and you have about 9 months to live." -- yep, that's how my Grama went and it's quite painful.
I assumed she was indicating Freddie Mercury as well.
ReplyDeleteHe was being treated by Austrian oncologists Christoph Zielinsk and Thomas Staudinger.
ReplyDeleteWhat about the BeeGee's didn't/aren't some of them dying of cancer
ReplyDeleteFrom TMZ:
ReplyDeleteGeorge Michael just showed his face for the first time since being rushed to a Vienna hospital last month with a serious case of pneumonia -- telling reporters, the illness nearly killed him.
George spoke to reporters outside his London home this morning -- claiming, doctors spent "three weeks basically keeping me alive ... It was by far, the worst month of my life."
George choked up, insinuating he had been in a coma during his time in the ICU -- "I spent the last ten days since I woke up literally thanking people for saving my life."
GM was forced to cancel his European tour over the illness -- but promises to play several concerts to make up for it ... including a private concert just for the docs who saved his life.
----------------
If he was in a coma for most of his hospital stay, it was definitely more than pneumonia, but not cancer.
I have assumed HIV from the jump the way Enty sidesteps it but with lots of foreshadowing/innuendo.
ReplyDeleteThere is a video of GM making his public statements on TMZ. He looks drawn, like he lost weight and he got winded very easily. It was kinda sad to watch. I think whatever is happening/has happened to him really scared him. He seemed genuinely thankful for all that the doctors did for him. Get well GM!
ReplyDeleteThe British media is among the world's most unscrupulous and predatory. You people HONESTLY believe that some Hollywood schmo pretending to be an entertainment lawyer would be privy to medical info that eluded the UK tabloids?
ReplyDeletePlease.
I guess there's not enough Kardashian coverage to satisfy you lately, ''Ent.'' Or maybe actresses just aren't having miscarriages like they used to. And screw you for slandering the deceased by insinuating that Amy had HIV. What a morbid, unjustified claim that is. You're even worse than Ted C and his frenzy to ''out'' all of Hollywood.
And let it be known that I am progressive person who has no issues with homosexuality or folks of all sexual persuasions who are living with HIV. But the blogger's tone bothers the hell out of me. I can practically see him rubbing his hands together with glee because he's just dying to disclose his ''secrets.''
ReplyDeleteAll speculation aside, George Michael does have a disease with a low prognosis for survival: drug addiction. Most addicts die from their addiction, through overdose or through the chronic longtime effects of poisoning themselves with toxic chemicals that severely impair the immune system. I can't speculate about his HIV status because his actual degenerative condition is obvious: the cocaine and alcohol and club drugs are ravaging him before our very eyes.
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteUmmm I don't think anyone insinuated Wino had HIV so get off ur high horse mate ^^
ReplyDeleteI also thought Enty meant HIV too with the whole "give himself away" thing I hope this is not the case and George gets over his pneumonia
I don't think he was implying Amy had HIV, calm down. He was referring to her drug use, which GM is known for. Get over yourself.
ReplyDeleteBack to the story.
When my mother was fighting breast cancer, she had a mild stroke before her body slipped into a coma. She passed after 7 weeks in the hospital so it is possible for this to be some sort of cancer. He's lucky and I hope he gets through this.
Some drug addicts are put into a medically induced coma so they don't have to be aware of the withdrawals they are suffering while they are being off the drugs.
ReplyDeleteOkay, I've been quiet on these posts, but I just kind of think this should be said to all that are saying his health secrets are his own.
ReplyDeleteHIV is a communicable disease which GM says he does not know want to know his sero-positive/ negative status. Yet, he actively seeks out as many partners as possible (unprotected) and exposes himself to other risks such as drug use.
I'm sorry, but NO, he is no longer entitled to keep his privacy.
He is a celebrity and we all know there are plenty of famewhores (literally) out there who will sleep with anyone for the "privilege" of doing so. You may not be one, I may not be one -- but how far removed from us are those people? As they typically also sleep with as many people as possible, it is quite realistic that we may be only one or two people away. I'm not going to pretend each and every one of us are saints in who we choose to sleep with...
Accordingly, if posting his status keeps people from satisfying his libido. THAT IS A GOOD THING!
Knowingly spreading HIV is a crime in many places, and "playing dumb" or ignoring the obvious is NOT a defense. And frankly, if he was not a celebrity I doubt he would get away with such callous and risky behavior.
Sorry, 'weaned' off drugs
ReplyDeleteI assumed HIV as well...lots of people with that develop pneumonia.
ReplyDeleteGlad he's okay..how scary!
And just to clarify, I dont mean anyone who has HIV should be outed. I am very aware of and support the laws preventing such things.
ReplyDeleteHowever, someone who is in such obvious disregard for his own health and the health and well being of others SHOULD BE.
Knowingly spreading that disease to others is no worse than trying to kill them by other means... Oh wait, yes it is... because you will also likely set them into financial ruin before they die (since they dont have your millions to by the expensive treatment it takes to keep death at bay...)

ReplyDeleteTrollslayer, this might not be the blog for you
ReplyDeleteBrenda, this has been a blog I've read for years, but I'm inclined to agree. The humor and intelligence that drew me here long ago are nonexistent today. I agree withany other people in that the original Enty is with us no longer. And many of the intelligent, longtime commenters have fled, too. What a coincidence.
ReplyDeleteHave at it, guys. I'm gone. Happy Holidays.
I sure do hope he'll be stay healthy, whatever was wrong with him.
ReplyDeleteHappy Friday everyone :)
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry to say, but I agree with trollslayer regarding Enty. I've been reading this blog for years (before "MV") and I believe the original Enty is no longer with us...and whatever happened to Jax? Did he/she become one of the current writers? Regardless of who the current writer is, I love coming and reading the daily posts/comments. You guys make my day :)
Now about George...whether its HIV, AIDS, Cancer, or just a nasty bout of pneumonia; its unfortunate all the same. Let's send him some positive energy and well wishes for continued recovery during this holiday season.
Happy Holidays to you and your families....from sunny (and very warm) Miami ;) xoxo
I've never commented here before, but decided to today. I read this article, and never got the impression it was insinuating that Amy had HIV, and I think many, myself included, have long suspected that George suffers from an unnamed chronic illness, so this article is a moot point.
ReplyDeleteNow that trollslayer has gone beyond the article to criticize and insult EVERYONE (all humorless dumbos now apparently), I'm of the opinion he's suffering from a classic case of holiday related depression. Sorry trollslayer, and hope things start looking up for you real soon.
This is hardly the only blog speculating that GM has something else going on. The rumors began the day he canceled his concert. Its pretty obvious really. Healthy young people dont spend 5 weeks in hospital with pneumonia, no matter how bad it was to begin with.
ReplyDelete"George also said that he would not share everything that was wrong with him because he wanted to keep his family from some of it."
ReplyDeleteHe himself stated in no uncertain terms today that something more is wrong with him. My prayers and best wishes go out to him.
Enty has insinuated that Winehouse had the HIV. many times...
ReplyDeleteI knew AIDs would/could put you in the hospital but I thought HIV was a prequel (in some cases) and was not as severe.
ReplyDeleteObviously I am not all that educated on this.
I've been hospitalized with pneumonia several times but never by my doctors. They just give out antibiodics. In one case they told me I would have died if I had not gone to the hospital.
Now I know, when it is very severe go to the ER, my regular docs will not cure me or advise me to get more help.
Oh man now I feel like I made Trollslayer leave. Don't listen to me!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteIt is true though that some blogs just aren't a good fit for some people. I've visited others and they just never clicked with me. I only have about 4 I visit on a regular basis.
Obvious example...very few people here would "fit in" over at Perez, what a bag of douche chemicals.
i'm not waiting through all the bullshit after catching snippets of a few posts. (wow)
ReplyDeletejust let me say pneumonia CAN KILL YOUR ASS. it doesn't HAVE to be any more complicated than that. in and of itself, it can be a fatal disease.
More :(
ReplyDelete"slandering the deceased by insinuating that Amy had HIV." is there some kind of shame in HIV, or for that matter, any other illness? was not aware of that. if gossip bothers you so much, try a different site, or skip the article. why do those of you who are so bothered by certain stories keep coming back? do you think enty's going to change HIS site because you are angry/pissed off/psycho? not bloody likely.
ReplyDeleteDang, trollslayer. Live up to your name and fall on your sword.
ReplyDeleteJust as much as you commend trollsayer to leave, you could just skip his/her comment if it offends you that much, right?
ReplyDeleteNow that trollslayer has gone beyond the article to criticize and insult EVERYONE (all humorless dumbos now apparently), I'm of the opinion he's suffering from a classic case of holiday related depression.
And you seem to suffer from paranoia, my dear. Where did trollsayer insult the commenters on here?
So now George Michael has gone from being diagnosed by folks here to going out an endangering the lives of others? Really?
ReplyDeleteI don't know what he has or doesn't, but I also don't know that he doesn't practice safe sex; or holds a gun to the heads of his partners so they don't practice it either. And just because a person says publicly they don't want to know, being an entertainer and going on tour, don't you have to take a physical so the people providing the money know their investment is safe, so if something is going on with him you really think he didn't know and wasn't able to inform his partners?
.. I had DOUBLE pneumonia when I was 8 years old. It only took ~ a week & a half under the oxygen tent to recover. Yes... I will "Em"'SIN'uate that Amy Winehouse had HIV & was in the first stages of develping full-blown AIDS... so get over *it*. ... George M. is clearly showing lipodystophy on the face (fat wasting off) & has sunken cheekbones - he's well over 50 years old & @ that age it is normal to have INCREASED facial fat not "decreased"... UNLESS you're over 50 & have a "disease" that is... so get over *IT* "too"...
ReplyDelete@Brendalove ...
ReplyDeleteI agree with you. Not every blog is for everyone. If someone doesn't like this one, click the X.
Like yourself, I also would peruse Perez Hilton. I found that the people there were classless. Every artist that he tries to promote sucks. He has worked his image very well since he is now "nice".
With that said, I think that Amy may have been HIV positive. It wouldn't surprise me. I think that George Michael probably is HIV +. His comment about not wanting to say too much because of his family just seems to imply this.
... AH!!! I 'JUST' now saw the pic in this article of George M. ... LOOK @ HIS FOREHEAD -> KAPOSI'S SARCOMA For The *"Win"*...
ReplyDelete@G, I too used to live at Perez Hilton, until I looked at the comments sections and discovered that all of the site's readers were 13 yr old girls. And, um, I'm a few weeks past 14 at least. Plus what you say about his taste is pretty spot-on. He pushes the most atrocious musicians, and around 2007 he was an outspoken Britney-hater. That's one thing I can't forgive. I loves me some Britney.
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like some of you weren't here for Enty's old blinds about an HIV+ singer, that just about everyone thinks was Winehouse. And it wasn't "slandering the dead," because she was alive when the blinds were written. It seems pretty obvious that that's what he's referring to.
ReplyDeleteI think it was inevitable he would get HIV, because he engaged in extremely risky sex. It's sad if he has full blown AIDS now. I know it's his choice, but if it's true, I wish he would speak out about it. Although, he already went through one huge public revelation when he came out, so maybe he doesn't want to go through another one like that, especially if he's ill. I think he seems like a basically good guy, who's had a lot of severe emotional problems. Take care, George.
George said in that video interview that he had to have a tracheodomy (sp). Is that standard practice when one has pneumonia?
ReplyDeleteWhatever he has, no matter who you are (celeb/non celeb), health matters should be as private as one wishes. Totally his business.
And ya, on the "This-is-not-the-same-Enty" train. Do love the commenters though :)
... I 'WAS' doing some research on the (supposed) Amy Winehouse Blind It"Em & came across an'OTHER' HIV+ related one from 2008 that refers to "Em" HIV+ f"Em"ale Pop singer from the U.S. whom people consider to be "America's Sweetheart"... most had guessed [her] to be Brit-ney Spears, Jessica or Ashley Simpson, or Miley CYRUS... but being that none of those "singers" are either sick or 'DEAD' as of yet... I'm "wondering" if the author of the blind considered Brittany Anne "Murphy" to Be A "Singer"... -> "Faster Kill Pussycat"... *Himmmmmm*...
ReplyDelete... BTW where is *Himmmmmm*? I NEED TO "talk" to *him*...
It's Freddy Mercury who the doc treated. You can look it up on Google.
ReplyDeleteJust to throw out something else, he said in an interview that he had "streptococca-something." I'm assuming he means streptococcus pneumoniae which can cause a lot of problems, some of which are related to Hep C, which is 4x more common in the UK than HIV. AND, more common in gay men because it can be transmitted by anal sex but not by vaginal sex. Just tossing it out there. And, come on, Amy Whinehouse totally could've had Hep C if GM's illness and her illness are supposed to be related somehow. After all, one of the top ways to get it is needle drugs.
ReplyDeleteOh and if he is seeing an oncologist, the most common association with liver cancer is hep infection. So, just tossing out an alternative to the HIV. Hep helps cause both strepto-pneu infection and cancer so it could explain both the pneumonia and why he's seeing an oncologist.
ReplyDeleteI had a great aunt that died a few years ago of pneumonia, she was in her mid 60's so not a spring chicken but not an old goat either. I think it tends to be more serious in damp, cold climates like Europe.
ReplyDeleteI did strike me strange that George Michael would say that there was more to his medical story than he wanted to divulge at this time to spare his family - as if the press is going to let it go now he said that. Why would he say such a thing? If he wanted to keep quiet about something why not do just that instead of spreading innuendo?
... my comm"Em"nts are easy to read by most here "Em" *elsewhere*...
ReplyDelete... Hep C doesn't cause Kaposi's Sarcoma lesions - those come from having a severely suppressed "Em"mune syst"Em"... BTW why is it such a taboo to acknowledge when a person has HIV or AIDS? I think it's abjectly hypocritical to give an IV drug addict or someone who's "promiscuous" a free pass for their reckless behavior... but once that person contracts HIV or develops AIDS, people refuse to acknowledge it... as if being an IV drug user or *sexually* 'CARELESS' (George Michael pun "Em"tended) is far less "Em"barassing than having HIV/AIDS. ..."Em"cidentally... AIDS patients can survive now for decades if they are receiving Highly Active Anti-Retroviral Therapy (HAART) treatm"Em"nt - though from what I hear it's "Em"xtr"Em"ely *expen$ive*...
Classalpha, we'd all like to know where Himmmm is. We miss him.
ReplyDelete@ BartonFink
ReplyDeletePerez was downright cruel "back in the day". I can forgive, but not forget. And as you noted, the kids that post are basically children. I, too, am a few hours over the age of 14. Every time he RAVES about a song or artist I pretty much skip it. He is always going "GaGa" over his "wifey". And he would promote Mika ad nauseum.
As for Amy Winehouse. Would anyone be surprised if she was HIV+?
@Mina - paranoid? huh?
ReplyDeletetrollslayer 10:50 AM - "this has been a blog I've read for years, but... the humor and intelligence that drew me here long ago are nonexistent today"
That was said to commenter brendalove@gmail.com in response to her suggestion that perhaps this isn't the blog for troll.
And why single me out? Are you troll logged in under a different name now? Don't bother, I really don't care.
Are you troll logged in under a different name now?
ReplyDeleteThanks for proving my point. Like I said, full-blown paranoia.
And why single me out?
I singled you out because you crossed a line with saying that trollsayer suffers from depression. That's why I commented that you must be suffering from paranoia then.
trollslayer 10:50 AM - "this has been a blog I've read for years, but... the humor and intelligence that drew me here long ago are nonexistent today"
As far as I understood it, the comment about humor and intelligence is aimed at blogger Enty and nobody else.
But thinking about it, your own comments don't ooze humor and intelligence, either. So I can understand that you must feel addressed.
Hey, I don't understand why you're so focused in on this, so I'll just apologize. Merry Christmas.
ReplyDeleteMina, I'm curious if you agree with trollslayer's nasty comments at the 10:25 AM and 10:28 AM marks, and why didn't YOU heed your own admonishment and just skip phoenix's comment if it offends you that much?
ReplyDeleteClassalpha, they aren't that easy. It's kind of a pain because I like reading what you write.
ReplyDeleteI would be surprised if the men who GM has sex with weren't aware of the risks involved. This is a guy that picks up strangers in parks and then goes behind a bush. His partners are engaging in their own dangerous behavior.
This comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDelete@Mina, you're being a hypocrite and are too egocentric to call yourself on it. You've just cancelled out your own argument. Looks to me like you're after an opportunity to engage with someone about anything.
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas, everybody! I've enjoyed reading so many of your posts all year!
This comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteMany many people are living long and productive lives with HIV, most of us will never know who and its not our business. It's no longer the death sentence it once was, medicine has made great strides and I pray for a vaccine in the near future..
ReplyDelete... @ Mooshki - I'd especially like to know where *Himmmmmm* is. If what he said about Britt 'WAS' "true" (re: the *sexual "laison" w/ *hoodrats* @ The Chateau Marmont) then She could've contracted HIV from *th"Em"*. I also want to talk to *Himmmmmm* because his friend Chris Cornell is one of Britt's FIRST fony fiance` *Jeff KWATinetz's* clients... I want to know EXACTLY *what* went on during Britt's ill-fated trip to Paris w/*KWATinetz* "Em" 2004...
ReplyDelete... I've already contacted several people whom Britt 'WAS" associated w/... like Her old manager Joanne Colonna, Her friend Joel Michealy, several of Her "Murphy" family m"Em"bers & also Her 'OTHER' FAKE fiance` *Joe Macaluso*. I've also contacted Her one-time BUTTler *John Sawaya* & Her SUPPOSED "friend"- the whORsE-faced HAYley Taylor who's father is Britt's Nina Bow Trust "trustee" Alex FATA$$ Ben (Laden) Block about Britt & HIV/AIDS & NONE of th"Em" have replied back. They could've all told me that the notion She had AIDS is proposterous or ridiculous but they neither confirmed nor denied my HIV/AIDS *"theory"*... which of course makes me go "Himmmmmmmm"...
... @ Rose... I'll try to make my "posts" a bit more compreh"Em"ndible from now on...
Classalpha,
ReplyDeleteHave you ever actually seen a Kaposi Sarcoma lesion? It's not like a zit. It's pretty f-ing obvious and I don't see any on GM.
And, HIV is remarkably uncommon which is probably the reason why we don't hear about it often. The CDC estimates that at any given time, .4% of people over the age of 13--yes, .4%, POINT four--have HIV in the United States.
I actually think it's insulting to automatically go to HIV as the reason why any gay man is sick. There are tons of other illnesses that someone might wish to keep private.
And who the hell said "karposi sarcoma" for the win? Really? And just what is your prize; a lifetime of fucked up karma or asshole of the millenniums.
ReplyDeleteAnd before you make comments like that, ks is basically non-existent in people in the western world with HIV/AIDS, that was an illness from the early days and not so much today.
And if memory serves correctly, George Michael was born in 1967 which hardly makes him well over 50.
@Bubbles
ReplyDeleteGeorge Michael was born June 25, 1963. He is 48 going on 49 next year. He is getting close to the 50 mark.
My bad Henriette. But 48 still isn't well over 50.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't be surprised to find he has some other immune compromising disease like Hep C.
ReplyDeleteFTR I also see no Karposi Sarcoma.
... these idiots can't even get George M.'s age right - he's always been OLDER THAN ME & I'm 46 now going to be 47 "Em" April. ... *KS lesion* on his left t"Em"ple... look on a REAL COMPUTER w/ a large screen not a friggen CELL PHONE. BTW Britt had the same "lesions" all over Her Body which She covered up w/ concealer. Now you MORONS... STFU.
ReplyDeleteIm looking on a real computer with a ginormous screen and still see no KS lesions. And I couldn't imagine he would be trying to conceal his illness but not conceal a lesion on his face before he held a press conference.
ReplyDeleteHave you guys forgotten that GM's beloved boyfriend Anselmo Feleppa died from AIDS? George is afraid to take the test and claims not to believe in HIV testing...... Come on!
ReplyDeleteClassalpha,
ReplyDeleteWe can't get his age right? You can't spell, understand grammar or use proper punctuation, yet we're supposed to believe you have some inside track to "Britt" or anyone else? You're a tinfoil hat loon. Up your meds, moron.
