George Michael Released From The Hospital

After almost a month in an Austrian hospital, George Michael was released this morning and was flying back to England for the holidays. I am glad everything is better for the singer who was supposedly being treated for pneumonia. I stand by what I say that he was being treated for something more than just pneumonia. When is the last time you knew someone who was in the hospital a month? People have heart attacks and go home three days later. I'm not saying George did not have pneumonia, just that he was being treated for something else too which may have contributed to the pneumonia.

  1. Are you saying he is HIV positive?

  2. 1. It's really none of our business.

    2. I know someone who was in the hospital for almost six weeks with pneumonia. He had a collapsed lung and a chest tube. They wouldn't let him leave until his chest stopped draining even though he felt relatively fine after the first two weeks.

  3. ^ I wouldn't be the least bit surprised. A month for pseumonia is a long time. There's a little more to the medical story.

  4. My dad is elderly, on 24-hour a day oxygen, and was in the hospital for 4 or 5 days when he had pneumonia in October.
The only time I really saw patients in the hospital for a month or more with pneumonia was when they were HIV+ and it was the pneumonia that is related to AIDS.
But if that's the case here, it's really none of our business.

  5. He was ill and was treated and released...that's it.

    ReplyDelete
  6. Of course he is HIV+. he admitted he has not gotten an aids test in decades bc he is scared of the results. And everything is our business, or at least enty and every other gossip blog and tabloid want it to be.

    ReplyDelete
  7. Rumors have circulated for years that he is positive and his appearance has changed tremendously to reflect someone who takes HIV med's, sunken checkbones, coloration of the skin, etc, (not everyone gets these)

  8. After I read everything classalpha wrote about Brittany Murphy I can't help but think it's more than pneumonia. Good luck to George.

    ReplyDelete
  9. You know what, as MISCH said, he was ill, treated and is ALIVE.

My uncle had HIV (not full AIDS, just HIV) and he got pneumonia and it landed him in the hospital for several weeks and unfortunately his body coudln't fight it. So WHATEVER, GM was treated for, he's out, he's alive and he's well. What happened in there is not our business.

  10. I think he has full blown AIDS and will be dying in the next couple of years. I hate to think it, but I do.

    ReplyDelete
  11. I do think it is sad and agree to that the details of his treatment are none of our business, but he could save some lives if he opened up and talked about his fight. If the suspicions are true that is... But even in the pic used he looks ill.
My aunt is a huge fan, busses across Canada at 17 just to see him in concert then turn around and get back on the bus.... She was devastated when I told her the rumors.

  12. Who cares what he really had? It's awful to insinuate someone has Aids, be a big boy and say it or leave it alone because it isn't our business. I'm glad he is healthy enough to be out of the hospital. Wham! was the first cassette I ever had and I will always love George Michael and that other guy.

  13. For what it's worth, he looks very handsome here, very distinguished.

I dunno about everybody saying it's none of our business. I mean, strictly speaking, much of what is bandied about in gossip columns is none of our business unless it's done in public, like falling down drunk/wasted in front of a club.

I agree tho with @Dishtlk that the more people open up about HIV related illness, the better it is for awareness. There has been a recent uptick in HIV infections among young gay males...the more reminding of the danger, the better.

  14. I don't know what he might have, but given the drug issues, it could be HIV. There isn't anything wrong with wondering. George has certainly given the world reason to wonder. This is also a gossip site which I enjoy and visit regularly, so I don't have a high horse to fall off of. I would hope the stigma of HIV/AIDS wouldn't.still be so steong that speculating about it.is viewed.asnsomething HORRIBLE to speak of. All kinds of people contract HIV/AIDS in many different ways. That doesn't make them bad people or imply that they are bad. Enough with the outraged pearl clutching.

    ReplyDelete
  15. @Jennifer H - No "pearl clutching" here. I think gossip is fine. Who is dating who, who's a diva on set, who's doing charity and means it. But things as personal as health issues I think are something even celebrities have the right to be private about if they want to. Not to mention protected by HIPAA.

    ReplyDelete
  16. I agree, let the man have his privacy. Especially if he's seriously ill.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Jenniffer H. I was thinking the same. It's bad enough he was/is seriously ill.

  18. Gossip: Rumor or talk of a personal, sensational, or INTIMATE nature.

I'm sorry, but if you open this website, read ANY article not specifically written or approved for publish by the person about whom the article was written, you have no right to get all high and mighty about others questioning George's HIV status.

I love George Michael since the first Wham! album (I even loved Wham Rap), so all I can say is I hope he stays healthy and happy for a long time.

OMG was classalpha on here recently??? Anyone got a link?

  21. Umm... me?

Despite my being in my fifties and a single parent, I spent much of my three final (so far!) years of very active cancer as my inner mess as an inpatient.

And more than often enough the stays lasted for a month or longer.

Quite often those were due to infections. You see, sometimes people have those. Other times people don't. Or they're just chronically weakened.

When that is among someone's inner messes, a swift discharge turns increasingly rare.

    ReplyDelete
  22. I love this time of year when "Last Christmas" airs on the radio so often. Love me some Wham!!!

Get better, GM. I love you!!!

Listen peeps, I hope the guy does not have HIV or AIDS. But, I can't help but wonder. With all of his past trials and tribulations with drugs and scandal, it would actually make sense.

And not to sound like a mega bitch, but we're on a gossip site. To say it's none of our business is kinda WTF to me. None of this shit is our business. Fuck. How is speculating about Coke Mom or the blind item about a celeb's kid with a disability any better than speculating about HIV? Same shit, different day. Jeez.

    ReplyDelete
  23. who knows what he had. BUT, he does have plenty of cash. A hospital will coddle you as long as you like if you've got cash or great ins.

I'm just happy to hear his doing better. He seems like such a sweet guy.

    ReplyDelete
  24. ... @ Brenda - check "Em"ty's new article on Britt's "mother"... "Em" __-__=__ thanks for the "m"Em"tion"...

    ReplyDelete
  25. Enty's been wrong before, he's only human. If he wants to speculate that GM has HIV or a drug problem go ahead. Maybe he does, maybe he doesn't. I was following the progress of that tour and I can absolutely believe that he was sick enough to be in the hospital for a month because he ignored his illness for at least one week and kept performing. Think outside your own experience, just because you don't know anyone who has been hospitalized for more than a week doesn't mean that people don't get hospitalized for more than a week.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Sorry, you can call me a hypocrite all you want, but my line in the sand is abortions and secret illnesses. If anyone is keeping that info to themselves it isn't for me to speculate, nor do I care to.

Everyone has a line somewhere, making them a hypocrite about something.

    ReplyDelete
  27. FS, I don't think Enty is speculating he has Aids or is HIV positive. I think he is trying to say it without saying it. So I think if you want to call someone out for having Aids then do it, but don't pretend like you're not.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I thought he was inferring drug rehab, myself.

Glad George is well enough to go home.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Rose, I thought he was referring to drug rehab and others were referring to HIV, so I just included both in my response. You are right, I should have been more specific. I agree with you that health issues should be handled a bit more delicately, especially when its just wild speculation (Amy Winehouse was not HIV positive despite what so many wanted to think). But gastric bypass is a surgical procedure and we discuss that here regularly without much dissension. Meh, I don't know.

Anyway, I'm a huge fan of George, I'm glad he's able to go home and I hope he fully recovers, but I'm not going to speculate on his health based on an undated photo. I thought he looked pretty good in the Red Nose video he did in the UK a little while back, but I think that concert tour took a lot out of him.

    ReplyDelete
  30. He is one beautiful man..I loved him in the 80's.

Careless Whisper of a good friend.

    Or was it the 90's?

    ReplyDelete
  31. @classalpha: What does the 'Em' mean?
Aren't you the person who used to end every post with 'nuff said' or something like that?

As to what's gossip and what's not; there are things which I, personally, think are alright to gossip and ponder about. On the other hand, I find BIs about women who had miscarriages or - as in this case - openly contemplating about someone's alleged HIV infection to be in poor taste.

Apart from that, I don't know how many diseases apart from HIV/AIDS there are which require a month long stay in the hospital for a person, but I'm sure there are a lot. A lot of other diseases can cause the immune system to break down and make it necessary to stay in an environment where an infection is unlikely.

I also don't know what I should think about so many people immediately thinking about an HIV infection when it comes to an openly gay singer's health. Kind of pejudiced, imo.

    ReplyDelete
  32. I think most of the speculation was aimed at the mother ashamed of her disabled child and her silent, complicit husband; not the disabled child. And the only time people speculate about someone having gastric bypass is when the gloat about doing it with diet and exercise.

And stigma or not, I agree that it's a bit prejudiced and a persons health is their private affair. And I don't think there is much stigma to saying someone has cancer either, but notice how know one is jumping to that conclusion and gay people, like everyone else the world over get sick from that as well as many other things besides HIV.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I thought he was referencing rehab. 4 weeks = rehab. Anyway, I am with Susan.

    ReplyDelete
  34. I cannot believe you have the gall to insinuate that George Michael is HIV positive. Sorry he didn't text you from his hospital bed to give you daily updates.

Then again, you also hinted at Amy Winehouse having the same condition, and funny how NO OTHER OUTLETS have reported the same since she died.

You aren't a lawyer, and you aren't a doctor, either. Cut the bullshit.

    ReplyDelete
  35. I just want to clarify that in no way in my mind is he (allegedly) aids/HIV positive BECAUSE he is gay, I think that is what is going on because of his high risk lifestyle that including a lot of party, drugs and probably, at least here and there, unprotected sex with what I can only assume was a lot of partners. Anyone male or female, gay or straight that has lived that lifestyle could potentially be speculated about, as far as I am concerned at least.

    ReplyDelete
  36. I think I posted this before .. when he first went in .. but Pneumocystis Pneumonia is a condition those with HIV/AIDS do get. So .. : /

    ReplyDelete
  37. ... "Em" refers to *that Detroit cRapper CRETIN who* I despise so I MOCK *him* "Em" my posts... BTW... Britt 'NEVER' GOT OVER *"Em"*...

... "Em"ty is clearly "Em"ferring George Micheal either has full-blown AIDS &/or is being treated for HIV-related illness(es). Amy Winehouse (R.I.P.) may have "officially" died from alcohol poisoning but *IMO* she 'WAS' suffering from AIDS-related complications which she did not seek treatm"Em"nt for... sounds *"Familiar"*...

  38. ... re: the GAY George M. & HIV... r"Em"Em"ber that several years ago he had been caught (by a cop) soliciting male/male *sex* in a public bathroom... now how could one separate the fact George was "Em"gaging in ultra-high risk gay *sex* activity like that & the fact he's Gay?

  40. Who said George Michael had pcp, and incidentally, once someone is diagnosed with pcp, they have an AIDS diagnosis as HIV positive healthy people don't have immune systems suppressed enough to allow pcp.

  41. @classalpha: Are you an insider? Why do you put certain words in asterisks and why do you write some words in caps? Is this some kind of code?

    ReplyDelete
  42. I love George, always have. I wish him the best of luck and hope he is well and happy.
He was sex on a stick back in the day. Hell, I'd still do him if he would have girls!

    ReplyDelete
  43. I'm with @Paisley and the others who say it's none of our business.

If you wanna speculate, Jim Henson died of pneumonia. Was he hiding a bigger illness? No, he just didn't think his health condition warranted hospitalization. That is, until it was too late. At least GM got proper medical care in time!

    ReplyDelete
  44. He'd never open up about being HIV+ or having AIDS, because then he couldn't have the quick hookups that he's addicted to. His life is sad.

    ReplyDelete
  45. @mooshki if he knows he's infected and is hooking up with randoms, he should be charged. Here in Canada there was a guy who knowingly infected 4-5 girls and was sentenced for criminal negligence and because of other crimes will be spending a LOOOOOOOOOOONG time behind bars, rightfully so.

  48. Besides "Last Christmas," George also sang a section of Band Aid's "Do They Know It's Christmas," my all-time favorite Christmas song.

    ReplyDelete
  49. He doesn't know he's infected!!!! He's given interviews stating that he hasn't been tested in over 10 years bc he is scared of the outcome to his high risk lifestyle. MANY celebrity Aids related deaths/illnesses are covered up and this is one of them.

    ReplyDelete
  50. @Dishtik, the laws against infecting people with HIV are only used when men (generally men of color [or colour]) infect women, generally white women who are urban professionals with access to attorneys. Otherwise, there is no case law or legal history of people being prosecuted for knowingly infecting others with HIV.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Even though I consider myself fairly open minded, AIDs was not my first thought when I read this. I thought he was sent from the hospital to rehab. Being a drug addict can certainly contribute to health problems.
This is a gossip site and GM has been very open about his risky life style. I loved his music and his butt in the videos.

    ReplyDelete
  52. @bartonfink why does race have to enter in to, people who knowingly infect people should be prosecuted regardless. This is the case I was referring to, http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/british-columbia/story/2010/09/20/bc-nduwayo-assault-hiv-aids.html and yes the guy is black but if it was a white guy, Mexican guy, an alien or George Michael it's wrong and they should be prosecuted. They are basically murdering those people, it's just a way longer process.

    ReplyDelete
  53. I hope he's ok... I hope the speculation isn't true.

  55. Over my lifetime, which more or less coincided with the HIV/AIDS epidemic, I have sometimes wondered about these laws. Gay men tend to oppose them because of concern (legitimate, maybe?) that if you stigmatize and criminalize seropositivity, law enforcement will use those laws to go after HIV+ people. Would an HIV prescription be probably cause to go over someone's personal life and contacts for evidence of transmission? Would community health programs have difficulty getting people to be treated if they knew that having their name on that list would enter them into the criminal system as likely offenders? As it turns out, the laws about infecting people are used in a highly selective way, so ultimately no affluent or mainstream person will ever be prosecuted. It bugs me, for a few reasons, first because I think criminalizing HIV+ status could be a mistake, and secondly because of the way that prosecutors in Europe and North America use the statutes against immigrant and minority populations.

    ReplyDelete
  56. If the laws are used discriminatly thats a problem, but saying that there shouldn't be some level of responsiblity on those that infect people KNOWINGLY is crazy. How is that not murder? In just the same way that having an oxy prescription doesn't make one a drug dealer or drug fiend, a script is not reason enough to launch an investigation. However once a legitimate complaint is launched it could certainly be evidence. As far as I'm concerned just like in slander cases malicious intent would need to be proven.

    ReplyDelete
  57. As I said, these things bother me. They don't bother you. And we go on.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Knowingly infecting someone is wrong if you're engaging in activities that have a high risk of exposure and you're not being safe. I'm not in the bushes with GM and unless any of you are you probably don't know for sure either.

But if you're in bushes getting your action from strangers and not being safe in the first place, you're not exactly in the same situation as some young, stupid girl thinking she's in a relationship with a guy who's hell bent on infecting as many people as he can.
I would hope someone cruising for sex in public and often dark places late at night isn't walking around with the innocence and naivete of some wet behind the ears girl from the burbs.

    ReplyDelete
  59. And incidentally how is HIV a death sentence exactly when it's now a chronic illness.

Not to mention that people with HIV get hit by buses; die in car crashes, get shot; etc. In other words having HIV doesn't guarantee that's what you'll die from.
