DIY Sperm Bank

Many people have hobbies. Whether it be stamps or coins videogames or doing a blog, lots of people have them. I think though that Trent Arsenault is the first person I know who uses his spare time to send out his sperm to families. Now, I need to make this clear. Trent is not going to a sperm bank and donating his sperm. Nope. He does it himself at home and ships it out to low income and same sex couples who can't afford or get hassled by the sperm bank people. Trent thinks he has fathered 14 children and has received 20,000 e-mail requests. That my friends is a whole lot of porn that Trent must be watching. I wonder how many of those 20,000 he has fulfilled. There is no way this guy is having sex.

I think it is funny and I think good for him if he can help. The Food & Drug Administration is not happy though and think he is violating the laws. They consider Trent a "firm" and also are trying to shut him down because he distributes semen. Apparently there are laws about distributing semen. Well, someone needs to talk to Lil Wayne and Kevin Federline because they keep distributing their semen and the government does nothing about it.

  1. Jesus. It's probably not the most sanitary thing on earth, but it's not like he is selling drugs. He's helping poor people and same-sex couples have children. The same people that the government makes it really difficult for them to adopt.

    I'm so over the government.

Well, talk about paying it forward! No middle man needed.

  4. in England, there is a guy who did more than 10 children with different women

does any one remember in LEGALLY BLONDE with the law lesson on the sperm donor?

  5. But is he donating or charging a fee? How can they call him a firm if it is free?

  6. Same sex couple - fine. But low-income? How are they going to afford a baby? Not sure that's the best idea.

  7. How long does sperm live after it's been ejaculated??

  8. That's my question RQ - is this even possible? I've never looked into it, but I've always assumend the sperm needed to be "fresh" so-to-speak... refrigerated or some such thing. What's this guy doing? Going in a cup and then heading straight to FedEx?

And then what do the recipients do once they receive it? Can't imagine a doctor would just take some random sperm sample when the patient says "Inject me with THIS - just got it off the internet!!!!"

  9. This guy takes the 'WORK AT HOME, STUFFING ENVELOPES' scam seriously.

  10. I believe sperm can still impregnate you after 72 hours. Strong little suckers.

  11. Sperm banks only charge a couple of hundred dollars for samples. Seriously, if you can't afford that, you should NOT be having kids.

  12. I was told by my doctor that STD tests have to be performed prior to donating any sperm, even if you are married. I don't know that I would take someones word that I found off the internet. How do you know he isn't getting sperm from friends and people off the street. How do you know it is clean? And what kind of lab is using this sperm?

  13. Let me get this straight. Some of you people think it is stupid for the government to get involved when a guy is distributing his possibly contaminated bodily fluids for other people to come into contact with. Have you all lost your minds? This is how sexually transmitted diseases are spread. Then there's the risk of inherited defects. And don't give me any bullshit about how he probably has himself tested. You would take the word of a stranger? This is every bit as idiotic as those women who let that guy inject cement and fix-a-flat into their butts.

Some of these amateur donors, by the way, are motivated not from altruism but because this happens to be their sexual fetish. If you read some of Trent's interviews, you get the vibe that he's one of them. He admits that this is the only way he has sex.

Wow, these kids will just love to learn that their moms picked a perv to be their dad.

  15. The guy's heart is in the right place, but surely the couple's in need of sperm could find a donor closer to home. I suppose the couple could go the turkey baster route, but the doner really does need to be tested for all sorts of things, and legal papers should be signed.

  16. There was a story in the Boston Globe within the past few months about a very popular sperm donor who had fathered quite a number of children, including both kids of a lesbian couple. Don't recall the whole story, but the lesbians & their kids ended up connecting w/the guy, and while he seemed to enjoy spending time w/the kids, his girlfriend was NOT happy that he (a) had other unknown children around, and (b) was spending time w/these particular ones. I strongly suspect they're not dating any more...

  17. I don't know why this is news. There are data banks for people to hook-up with sperm donors. Why doesn't he just go that route?

  18. The FDA considers Trent "...a firm." Yeah, firm enough to father 14 children!
If low-income people are spending money on mail-order sperm, maybe they need to re-think their priorities.

  19. He could not be considered a firm unless he inventoried all his sperm and kept records regarding all his sperm, both donated and not donated.

Isn't that the Legally Blonde idea?
