I told you yesterday that Candace Bushnell was way too ticked off in her press release announcing her divorce to not have been scorned in some way. Well It turns out her husband was cheating on her and Candace decided to go ahead and out the woman by naming her in the divorce papers. Hello Georgina Pazcoguin and welcome to the tabloids. You may wonder why a ballet dancer who has never been in a tabloid before is suddenly going to be in a lot of them. Well, there is nothing we like more in this world then to see celebrities and their cheating spouses and the people they cheated with. It is what we do. Just because no one really cared about Candace Bushnell or her husband's divorce before now, it has all changed since there is a confirmation of an affair and a name. It makes the most benign divorces so much more fun for us to read and is also another day where I don't have to write about the Kardashians because I found a better train wreck to talk about. It really is a win/win. Oh, except for Georgina and Charles. Probably not fun for them to be called out like this.

Sorry but classy or not I would have done the exact same thing. She listed it in her divorce docs and I think it belongs in there! If the other woman is the reason for the divorce then why not state that? It doesn't seem to me like she made a public statement about it. Maybe divorce is public record but that doesn't mean everyone needs to run out and look them up.

ReplyDeleteI've always thought Candy Bushnell was an entitled snobby bitch. My opinion of her is independent of her marriage and subsequent divorce, and in fact, was formed during the early SATC days when she was on the interview circuit. As much as she tried to make Carrie Bradshaw a relatable character to single and/or professional women, I always felt that she held herself high above the audience she was aiming for. Like, "hey, buy my books, but don't think for a second I'd ever be friends with the likes of you."

ReplyDeleteCandace Bushnell always slammed SJP and what she did to "her" character. Bushnell was very bitter that Darren Star (SATC creator)basically bought her out for cheap. She should have sued instead of bitching so much instead of slamming SJP so much. I think she thought SJP was too unattractive to play her alter-ego.

ReplyDeleteWhen Bushnell sold the SATC property it was an occasional column in the weekly NY Observer, not exactly a NY Times Best Seller. If she didn't like the price, she shouldn't have sold it to Starr and HBO, but waited for a higher bidder. And then listened to the crickets chirping in the marketplace.
I just don't understand why people can't keep their dirt private. Yes, what happened to her sucks but does it all have to be out in the open? I'm not taking sides because I really don't care and don't know the whole story (and again, I don't care) but I just don't understand why everything has to be public knowledge.

ReplyDelete@MadLyb, I agree but usually celebrities who interest us keep their mouths relatively shut and we speculate. This is someone no one really cares about. Most of the articles published today on this site are about no one I care about, Jesse James, NPH's boyfriend, Real Housewives and other reality stars. Because of the constant stories about uninteresting reality stars on this site, whoever is writing as Enty is a woman. I can't see a man caring about these people.

I agree that Brushnell is going to make this work for her in some way. Either she is going to write a novel OR Carrie and Big break-up. The SATC franchise has gone away from Brushnell's life quite a bit though.
