Have you ever made up a significant other right before the holidays just to avoid (a) questions from your family about why you are still single or (b) to give you an excuse to not have to go see your family? Someone I know bought a fake engagement ring to wear when she went home just to avoid questions, but to me it would seem to bring on a lot more, like how did you meet, when are you getting married, etc.
