Two Seizures Reported During Breaking Dawn Birth Scene

You would think with the massive headlines that I have seen that people all over the country were having seizures during every showing of Breaking Dawn. So far there have been two. Two is too many, but I bet in all the showings of the movies all over the world that two people have probably got up and been sick in a bathroom too. It is interesting that both of the seizure victims were both men. Here is what I think happened. In at least one of the cases the man and the woman had just started dating. He agreed to go see the movie and then realized he was the only guy in a theatre filled with women who was there voluntarily. The only other guys there had committed various infractions ranging from cheating to watching football in church. Wanting to get out of it, the guy had a seizure.

  1. Funny post!
Didn't they say it was the mixture of blacks and reds and the lighting or something?
People also have reactions to 3D movies as well I think.

  2. Don't some people have seizures when exposed to strobe lights?

Anyway, this is a good way for guys to get out of seeing Twilight with their wives/girlfriends.

  3. They did, RenoBlondee, and I don't think there's anything funny about having seizures.

  4. I do know I thought I was going to start flopping like a fish when I saw, 'Mission to Mars' many years ago. I can't see movies where the camera jerks around a lot or that have strobe effects. It makes me sick for a couple days afterwards.

It is a brilliant way for a guy to get out of having to sit through this movie, though, LOL!

I hope you didn't think I was laughing at the men that had seizures. I meant Enty's ramblings about Twilight were funny.

Yeah I read the birthing scene has weird flashing lighting, which can definitely bring a seizure on.

  7. @RenoBlondee - no, I was referring to Enty, who seemed to be making a joke out of it.

  8. My 16 year old daughter has seizures triggered by strobe lights, etc. and I am supposed to take her and my 15 year old to see this movie this weekend. Now, I'm not too sure. My daughter is on medication to control her epilepsy but I don't think I want to risk it in the theater.

And, no, it definitely is NOT a laughing matter.

I've never had a seizure that I know of, but I have that strobe sensitivity...I start feeling like I'm going to be sick. Life was very hard during the disco era.

  10. The news reporters were kind of making light of it in the end of that video as well.

I feel bad for this guy! He was just trying to be a good boyfriend.

  11. This reminds me of the video game from a few years back where people were getting seizures while playing because of the effects. I remember South Park even had an episode about that. The article I read stated that the strobe effect combined with people being in the pitch-black theater was probably to blame for the seizures during the birth scene.

  12. Once I get over my GD strep and pink eye (both eyes--gyahh!) I'm going to see it, but given this info I am a bit worried about it triggering migraines. Flashing or too-bright lights--like sun reflection off the water--can trigger a migraine for me sometimes.

I'm seeing the damn thing anyway, no matter what, though!

I'll just buy a Coca-Cola at the snack bar instead of a Sprite, b/c Coke cures my migraines sometimes if I catch them in time...

My 15 yr old and my sister drug me to the midnight premiere. Luckily, we live near a small town theatre, not too bad of a line.
Anyway, I don't even remember that scene being all flashy-lighty, I just remember the gore, so crossing my fingers you'll be okay!

  14. Thanks, RB! I'm takin' my chances anyway. Gore I can handle any day :)

  15. I'd read this & am going to wait for the DVD. I don't want to risk a seizure & flashing/strobe lights make me disoriented. I agree that seizures are not a laughing matter.

  16. So, they made sure to tone down the headboard-busting sex scene, but the birth scene is gory enough to send people to the hospital?

    That's terrific.

  17. Go see the Muppet movie instead! It's awesome!!

Sheesh Becki that is a bit harsh! Someone stating that they dont think seizures are funny isn't exactly getting all PC nor up in anyones grill but your comment sure raises some bristles..
