T.I. Says Gay People Are Too Sensitive
In an interview with Vibe, T.I. says he has a hard time believing that Osama Bin Laden was actually killed. He also says the funniest joke he ever heard Tracy Morgan say was the one which got Tracy into a whole lot of trouble with the gay community. What T.I probably missed was not the fact that Tracy said a joke about gay people, but that he would kill his child if they ever told Tracy they were gay. T.I. says that gay people are way too sensitive. “They’re like,‘If you have an opinion against us, we’re gonna shut you down.’ ... That’s not American. If you’re gay you should have the right to be gay in peace, and if you’re against it you should have the right to be against it in peace." In peace would be being quiet right? Vibe tried to make it clear that T.I supports all sexual preferences, but just wants to be able to say what he wants to say without fear from the gay community.
Well,I guess he's not the football player from the blind the other day about the player who wanted to be more sensitive to the gay community so he was meeting with them.
ReplyDeleteT.I. must stand for The Idiot.
ReplyDeleteIn peace does not be quiet.
ReplyDeleteI am just going to say what I'm thinking, and say it with love. I'm not sure why so many minorities (African Americans, Hispanics, Asian, etc) of race have so much trouble understanding their natural alliance with the gay community.
ReplyDeleteIf one were to substitute the word "Black" or "Mexican" or "Puerto Rican" in those sentences for the word "gay," people of color would be offended. Imagine if the sentence read like this: "If you're black, you should have the right to be black in peace, and if you're against it you should have the right to be against it in peace." How can one be against something that is part of who you are?? This isn't just T.I. There's a disconnect within many minority communities between the ways in which people suffer discrimination and prejudice due to their race and the ways in which people suffer discrimination and prejudice due to their sexual orientation/gender identity. We should be aligned with each other, not judging each other.
That said, please no one bring up Prop 8. That whole "Blacks are the reason Prop 8 failed" argument makes me sick. There aren't enough African Americans in the state of California to make ANYTHING fail or win. It's just a bunch of right wing propaganda trying to push the blame for discrimination against one group of people onto another group of people. I know who's trying to deprive me of the right to be married, and although some minority members may have voted against me out of ignorance, they didn't have the power and the money to finance that campaign of hate.
@GladysKravitz: You're not the only person who doesn't understand at all why people who must know what it means to be discriminated against want all the respect, understanding and equality for their own group, but don't want to grant other people the same rights.

ReplyDeleteEVERYTHING you said Gladys!
ReplyDeletethis guy is idiot! crétin !abruti! ignorant?!
ReplyDeleteExcuse me, but there is racism in the gay community like everywhere else. I've heard gay people say some racist things against blacks. There is bigotry from every walk of life. This isn't Mister Rogers neighborhood we don't all have to love each other, but we need to respect each others right to be.
ReplyDeleteI agree 100% with you FingerBinger.
ReplyDeleteYup, there is racism and prejudice in every group. But I've never heard of an interview of a gay/lesbian/bi/transgender celebrity in which prejudice against a certain group was supported as a right. And if Ellen DeGeneres or George Michael or ELton John or Lily Tomlin ever DID say something that advocated prejudice against any one group of minorities, just for BEING a minority, I'd like to think that the GLBT community would ostracize them for those comments.
ReplyDeleteDammit, T.I. (Sigh)
ReplyDeleteWell said, GladysKravitz.
Amen Gladys! TI=TOTAL IDIOT
ReplyDeleteI agree totally with you Gladys and somewhat with FingerBinder. As a Black person I know that alot of people in my community have NO respect whatsoever for LGBT people and actually believe they are going to hell for "choosing"their lifestyle.
ReplyDeleteTexas Instruments is an idiot.
ReplyDeleteCan we put Gladys on the cover next time?? It's not going to change until people like The Idiot (Thanks Cheryl!) are not given press like this.
ReplyDeleteYYYYEEEEESSSSSSS to what Gladys said.
ReplyDeleteBravo, Gladys!!
ReplyDelete@Fingerbinger -- "This isn't Mister Rogers neighborhood we don't all have to love each other, but we need to respect each others right to be."
Yeah, not everyone has to get along. But when your disrespect for a minority group crosses the line into taking away that group's rights and privileges, that's when things get a little effed-up.
For instance, last time I checked, every ethnicity in this country is free to marry one another, but gay people are still fighting that fight in most states -- and conservative politicians definitely aren't gung-ho about same sex marriage. There are still plenty of obstacles that get in the way of equality.
You can't fight for the freedom of one group of people while simultaneously working to oppress another. It's just hypocritical.
Yes, Gladys, yes.
ReplyDeleteAnd I know many people here won't agree, but I recently read an article called "Animals rights are so gay" or "Being veg is so gay" (can't remember exactly) and it really tied in the way animals are systematically oppressed, and personally I think all oppressed groups need to fight for others.
Great comments, everyone, especially Trollslayer and GladysKravitz.
ReplyDeleteNow, if I may be completely shallow, I find the man unbelievably hot. Not a fan, have no opinion on his music, think he's an idiot, but...damn is that dude handsome.
