Kate Middleton and Prince William were in Copenhagen this week. I actually thought it was where they made the chewing tobacco by that name, but it turns out it is Denmark. Huh. You think they named it after the Danish city? If you think about it, the name of the chewing tobacco is kind of odd. Some good old boy in the South reaches for a dip of Copenhagen? You would think they would have named it something like Moonshine or some more appropriate name. The same company also makes Skoal. Another tribute to Northern Europe. Fascinating I know. Where was I?
Oh yeah, William and Kate in Copenhagen and they were sampling food from UNICEF boxes and Kate did not eat any of the peanut paste. Is that different from peanut butter? Because peanut butter is one of the miracles of the world, but peanut paste? Maybe she just does not like it. But, because she is Kate and we love a good pregnancy story, everyone assumes she was not eating it so her unborn baby would not get a peanut allergy. I swear if she rubbed her belly, the British tabloids would all have groaned in a collective orgasm of anticipation.
It's peanut butter.
ReplyDeleteMaybe she's just allergic to peanuts - lots of people are - and rather than offer up an explanation, just passed on the tasting. People look for things that just aren't there.
ReplyDeleteIf I were bone thin like her I'd be choosy about what went in my mouth too.
ReplyDeleteMaybe she doesn't like peanuts like me, I like all the others though.
I wouldn't eat it either - I just don't like peanuts in any form. (Ok, sometimes a Reese's peanut butter cup is good)
ReplyDeleteThe Daily Mail has a WAY too long article about this. Apparently, a few years ago women were being told not to eat peanuts while pregnant for fear of giving the kid a peanut allergy. So of course she MUST be pregnant...or maybe she doesn't like peanuts.
ReplyDeleteDamn no peanuts it must be twins
ReplyDeleteGee - maybe she though it looked gross and didn't want to eat it.
ReplyDeleteI'm on team peanut allergy.
ReplyDeleteIt seems that Buckingham Palace stated that she does'nt have a peanut allergy. But! That's all they said! They didn't mention anything else so it must mean KATE IS PREGNANT let the "baby watch" begin in earnest! UGH!
ReplyDeleteThe other side is that it's a huge insult not to eat if she didn't like it, this is what is being sent to starving people and she showed no solidarity.
Peanut paste is a little bit more concentrated than peanut butter, I think, and very intensely flavored. Perhaps she didn't taste it because she didn't want a photo taken while she sucked on her finger like William is doing. Can you imagine the uproar if that had happened?
ReplyDeleteOk. For some reason when I saw the photo of her the other day, I got this feeling she was pregnant. I have no idea why (I had not heard the peanut story, nor do I think that's evidence) but I just got this vibe. I guess time will tell.
ReplyDeleteHmm, apparently she also declined champagne. DUN DUN DUN.
ReplyDeleteThe powers-that-be recently decided that first-born female children now count in the line of succession (Jesus--finally!) so it'll be awesome if they have a baby girl first!
ReplyDeleteKudos to Wills for wearing his Remembrance Poppy; to commemorate those that died. I always wear one on my coat and put others on my rearview mirror in my car.
ReplyDeleteWhat the hell does dip called Copenhagen and "some good old boy in the South" and moonshine have to do with each other? Ugly stereotyping, Ent. Hateful and ugly. You people on the left coast are so much better than us, huh?
ReplyDeleteKinda like the post where you assumed that people wouldn't like Brendon Flowers because he's Mormon. Yeah, because most Americans hate Mormons. got it.
Maybe they're just trying to get pregnant? When my friend and her husband were trying, she abstained from alcohol and sushi except for those few days each month when she knew for sure she wasn't knocked up.
ReplyDeleteThe first I said when I heard this: Maybe the woman just doesn't like peanut butter. The whole baby watch is a bit much.
ReplyDeleteI bet Mooshki nailed it. They've been together what? Nine or ten years and have lived together for some time. I don't think they're like a lot of newlyweds who want some "together" time before starting a family.
ReplyDeleteThe peanut paste is actually a nutritional supplement given to starving kids to correct nutritional deficiencies and literally to keep them from wasting away by helping them gain weight quickly. Maybe she is watching her calories or just doesn't like peanut butter. I don't think she is pregnant.
