Kate Gosselin Gets A Job - Blogger

Apparently the website Coupon Cabin has money burning holes in their pockets and have hired Kate Gosselin to blog every week about her couponing skills. Now, I know that the site is probably hoping for increased traffic by having a celebrity blog on their site, but do they really think Kate Gosselin can give better advice about couponing than someone who does it on a daily basis? Kate uses coupons. In fact, ever since she began negotiating with this site she has been very sure to get her photo taken with coupons clutched in her hand. Think about that for a second. She goes to Bed Bath & Beyond with a coupon in her hand and then goes home and Tweets about how she never goes shopping there without her coupon. Huh. You think someone paid her? When is the last time you carried one coupon in your hand while walking to the store instead of your wallet or your purse?

It is great she landed a job, but I think an average person who coupons to make ends meet is probably going to provide more information than someone who uses coupons just to make money.

  1. I sometimes catch that show about the coupon queens and sit there amazed as they end of getting change for the truck load of food and assorted what not they go home with...
Kate Gosselin can learn from these women..she has nothing to teach them this really is a joke.

  2. My step-mom is one of those "coupon queens" - she doesn't buy huge quantities, but she'll often pay a couple of bucks for a TON of stuff. Then she has a garage sale and sells it. She's made bank! Not to mention, when my dad was still alive and I still saw her, before I left for home I'd go in her garage/store and load up on shampoo, toothpaste, razors, cleaning products, etc... it was great! A totally useful care package! Miss my dad :(

  4. Enty did you move to the east coast? Or are you just getting up and blogging at the crack of dawn out in LA? Either way I like it!

  5. You forget the episode where she ripped Jon a new one for not using a coupon at BB&B. I think this was when the just moved into the new house.

  6. It's probably a good gig for her, zero human contact.

  7. I love using coupons because I love being cheap. Every sunday, I sit down with a stack of coupons and sales fliers for various grocery stores to see who has the best deals, and where my coupons will earn me the most money. Afterwards I plan out my weekly meals based on the sale flier and coupons. The only negative I have towards coupons is that a lot of them are for highly processed foods that we don't eat, and I have to tape down an urge to buy frozen pizza, etc. just because I could get it for next to nothing.

The best thing I learned from the extreme couponing show was to print off coupons from California because they're worth more. Huzzah!

Oh, and if I just need one item, I totally run into the store with just my coupon and debit card in hand. I'm not a purse person.

  8. Ghost writer. I doubt she actually writes the column. Her job is to get papped and lend her image to it

  9. Who doesn't go to BB&B without a coupon? They send those out every week. There's a stockpile in the mail room of my apartment building.

  10. I am a coupon enthusiast! If I don't save at least 50% on my grocery shopping, I consider myself a failure.

Extreme Couponing is on TLC....her show was on TLC...coincidence?

I read earlier that she is "excited to use my expertise" to help other women save money. Expertise? Don't tell me she clips coupons. I don't see her being frugal or thrifty in any way.

  13. @Patty: I remember that episode. And I'm kind of ashamed to admit but I used to watch her show back when it was first starting and she always talked about using coupons for everything and she was actually very good at it. So I don't actually have a problem with her getting this blogging "job."

  14. My daughter used to work at BB&B and she said they always take the coupon, whether it's expired or not!

  17. She yelled at Jon for not using a BB&B coupon, but was also getting $5k haircuts back in the height of her fame?

    What a load of crap.
