Call Of Duty - Modern Warfare 3
The numbers are out for the release of Call Of Duty - Modern Warfare 3 and they are staggering. The game took in almost $400M in just one week which means it made more money than anything ever entertainment wise in its first week. Apparently I am the only person on earth who did not buy the video game when it was released this week and I feel like I should rush out and buy a copy just to say I too have a copy despite the fact I have no game system with which to play it. I used to have a game system, but some drinking and an off balance stumble a few years ago put an end to it. Plus, I was not using it really to play games, but was just using it as a place to set my drinks. Now I just use a stack of magazines which I intended on reading, but then figured they would be much more useful as a table to hold my drinks. They also can double as napkins should the need to arise. How many of you went and bought the game this week?
Am totally useless at all video games. So have not and won't be buying it. Where do people get the time to play them?
ReplyDeleteNot me, but my hubby bought it opening day. I've tried playing it but I quickly felt like a big loser when I was getting killed and mocked by the little kids playing against me. It's a whole new low when you find yourself trash talking kids a fraction your age because they're better at the game than you. lol
ReplyDeleteI don't have it or play it but I my daughters long time college boyfriend is a nationally ranked player. Needless to say, he got one.
ReplyDeleteThe last video game I played was Doom II. I would only play in God Mode with a list of secrets and cheats nearby. It was interesting in how it works and the graphics, but all the running around and blasting creatures got old quickly.
ReplyDeleteI looked at DOOM? back in the 90s when it first came out but decided I hated the whole FPS thing, gave it away, and haven't ever tried to play any of them since.
ReplyDeleteI was given a Wii/Wii fit when they came out but haven't really ever used it either so I might be extra weird or something. I do play various quickie web games though, like this one: http://www.physicsgames.net/game/3_Slices.html
Never took to any of the video games, I gravitate more towards gossip blogs for my mindless entertainment ;)
ReplyDeleteOh, and if you play that levels 19 and 20 were very hard for me.
ReplyDeleteI was blessed with a man who is not interested in video games. Praise Jesus. Some of my girlfriends have boyfriends or husbands who spend hours playing these things.
ReplyDeleteOne of my kids wants this, so maybe for Christmas. I just hate spending $60+++ for a game. And then sometimes they want the strategy game and so on. . .
ReplyDeleteI played all the DOOM games, Castle Wolfentstein, even Duke Nukem, lol. I like the fantasy FPS but not the more realistic modern warfare ones.
And lastly, I have seen stacks of magazines artfully arranged to make bedside tables! It makes you look like you actually read. :)
i had pre-ordered a copy for my husband for our anniversary - yup. that's the kind of wife I am.
ReplyDeletei haven't played it yet, but I will. i enjoy the COD games.
My son pre-ordered it and picked it up at midnight the day it was released. I wish he was that proactive with his schoolwork.
ReplyDeleteI just finished Call of Duty Black Ops which I got last Christmas. Surprisingly, it only took about 8 hours to finish the campaign.
ReplyDeleteWill probably get this in a year when it is half price. Fun game though.
Think I will try Battlefield 3.
The last video game I played was Super Mario Brothers back in the 1990s. I don't have anything against them, I just don't need anything in this house that encourages me to sit in front of a screen. The internet and tv keep me on my tail enough as it is.
ReplyDeleteI live on an Army post so COD 3 is a huge deal here. We don't even have a game system though back in the day I was a whiz at Super Breakout on the Atari. We even had Pong and my mom gave us an old black and white tv to play on.
ReplyDeletePONG! Yes cheryl - same thing here - we had a tiny little black and white to play it on and it burnt the pong patterns on the screen. LOL
ReplyDeleteI don't play the games but do enjoy the new commercial with Jonah Hill tho. looks like a cool game. I like playing the games on POGO and BigFish online -more my speed and no little kids kicking my ass
I don't play video games, neither does my husband. In my opinion, it's just a waste of time and it's stupid. Why would I waste 60 bucks on a game? I guess I'm lucky that I don't have one of those husbands with the whole "man cave" football, video game mindset, but then again I wanted to marry a MAN, not a really tall child. I honestly don't know how some of y'all put up with that...lol. Hope I don't sound like a beeyotch but seriously why would anyone want to put up with that crap?
ReplyDelete@Ron Paul - you do sound like a bitch.
ReplyDeletei am married to a MAN, not a child. we are over 30, well educated, and financially secure. i'm a financial analyst and he's a step away from CEO. please don't judge people. he doesn't sit around playing for hours a day, everyday. but does he like to sit down and play in free time? sure. so do i.
you can certainly have your opinion. i understand video games are not for everyone. but for you to immediately brand someone that likes them a "child" and to say why would we "put up" with that is crossing the line a bit. i "put up" with it because its something we enjoy TOGETHER. life's short. fun is good.
i like the he plays video games. i like that he still gets emotional about sports (good or bad). yet he still puts on a tie 5 days a week, knows all about fine wine and cigars and can talk politics and economics with some of the smartest business people in Philadelphia and NCY. i like that he's not stuffy, serious and "adult" all the time. or life would be pretty boring.
I love video games, but I play stuff like the Sims or Age of Empires... COD just never appealed to me. And no, perhaps they don't serve "a purpose" but neither does this blog or most of the stuff we watch/read/do.
ReplyDeleteYup I got it. Level 35 in multiplayer and my roommate abd ex boyfriend play it all the time. I tend to play with a lot of girls online too. I like the new games on this one too
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty sure my neighbor has been playing it non-stop since it came out :)
ReplyDeleteMy son and I play and we have a blast, but we play the Lego, Zelda and Mario games. When we first got a Wii and Super Mario Galaxy we freaked out, it was so fun and pretty. Never got into the war games, but I've got a copy of Scarface just for the kitsch factor. My son's been begging me to play it but he's too young. Right now we're re-playing the Legend of Zelda Windwaker, an oldie but a goodie. Before he came along I could get lost for hours in Tetris, but other than that i never considered myself a gamer.
It's something we do together, and we both enjoy it. I know soon he'll want to play games I'll hate and I'll be forced to play stuff like Left for Dead and Call of Duty... but I'd rather play with him than have him doing this stuff on his own.
@Bnl1016 - I too get a little peeved at people who assume that all adult gamers/game players are children, or that something's wrong with them. Video games are fun! Some are puzzles... like Blind Items!
@Bnl1016 - Thank you. ;)
ReplyDeleteI don't like video games that are violent, so I'm not into COD or anything like that. Jimmy Fallon said when he plays games like this he hides behind stuff so he doesn't get shot, so that would pretty much sum up my method of operation.
My husband goes through gaming phases. He is currently on an Xbox kick but he only plays about 20 minutes a day. He has a very stressful job so it's his way of unwinding. I'm ok with that because I don't have to be up his ass every minute we're together. :)
I like Wii Fit and still use it occasionally. Just Dance & Zumba are fun.
@emeyekay- omg I got sucked in hard to Mario galaxy. I love games like that the best. The last call of duty, black ops, was the first one I played. I was never into them but my husband asked me to play so I did and was surprised I enjoyed it as much as I did. Same with left for dead. That ones still kind of " cartoony" just with lots of blood. But I liked that one too. Ultimately though I'd pick the Mario stuff first any day.
ReplyDelete@lelaina- agree. I said when I got the cod for our anniversary " cod - gift for him. He leaves me alone for a bit - gift for me" LOL
ReplyDeleteI have loved playing video games since Atari. Usually, I played Zelda, or Mario or Final Fantasy, but my boyfriend got me hooked on CoD (which I'm sure he regrets because now I am better than him!)
ReplyDeleteI wish I had time to learn some of the new games...not the violent ones though. I hogged my daughter's Tarzan game when it first came out..totally addicted, downloaded cheats & was so excited when I finished. When I retire, I'll probably take gaming up for shits & giggles.
ReplyDeleteA shit report card from my son saved me $60. No As or Bs, no Call of Duty. Yeah, he's pissed. lol
ReplyDeleteI've always been a DS woman myself. Love the Layton series and Animal Crossing. I'm a puzzle woman and my husband is a big system shooter guy. I waited for COD:MW3 at the midnight release party for him. He likes shooters and got COD and Battlefield 3 recently as well as Arkham City. I can't play these games worth a damn but I love watching them. The stories are good and graphics are aways getting better. His christmas present: PS3 with Uncharted 1-3 and God of War series. He'll love it.
ReplyDeleteLol thanks Bnl whatever, way to get defensive over video games! So I'm a bitch, and stuffy and boring. That's cool, at least I'm not married to a guy who plays video games. To each their own. PS you sound fat.
ReplyDeletehusband got it, I've already accidentally stepped on it...oooppps. i HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE video games, game systems and anything related to them. I wish painfull hemoriagic elbola on whoever developed these relationship destroying time wasting idiot btreeding systems. If i ever had children, I would not even own a tv.. learn to read a book and go outside to play... and yes @RonPaul.. look at GAMESTOP.. video games===REPULSIVE LARD ASS FAT LAZY WOBBLING, CANNOT SIT IN A NORMAL AIRPLANE SEAT PEOPLE...i hate them.
ReplyDeleteObviously none of you have ever been called.a stupid whore for.interuping a video game because..hello, they were sending firemen door.to door telling, people to leave because,of burnett texas fires. Obviously.a stupid.game is more.important than your.families.safetynin real life
ReplyDelete@Ron Paul - You can say what you want about me. I really don't care. How would you know that I'm a long-distance runner and teach zumba in my free time? If its easier for you to imagine me as a fat, ugly, slob to make yourself feel better than me, that's cool.
ReplyDeleteI didn't get defensive over a video game. I got defensive over my husband. Which is any wife's normal reaction. The correct attitude IS to each their own. But to be nasty about it and put down others.....seems like you have some issues going on there.
@Kimberly - I have known guys like that too. That get way to into it, take it way too seriously, and get abusive over it. But you need to realize that is only a percentage of gamers. Its possible for a man (or women) to enjoy a game for a bit and not act like that. And to be fair there are plenty of abusive men out there who will call you a stupid whore for many reasons. That's not isolated to video games. If a man is being abusive over a video game a) that's the man that's the problem, not the game and b)if it "ruins" a relationship, the relationship had problems to begin with. a video game alone is not enough to destroy a solid loving relationship.
I don't think there's anything wrong with video games or the people who play them. But I do think it's weird to spend hours and hours pretending to murder people. And that's all I'm going to say about that.
ReplyDelete"Ron Paul" is obviously thirteen and spends his days jerking off, picking at his zits, and wishing he was as cool as Justin Bieber.
@Ron Paul - http://www.penny-arcade.com/comic/2004/3/19/
ReplyDeleteBoth my husband and I are 'gamers' - we have a Wii, PS2, Sega Genesis(!), a DS (I also <3 Animal Crossing) and we play *gasp!* World of Warcraft!
With all this, however, we still seem to maintain active, healthy lifestyles. Full time jobs, raising a family, maintaining a home, going outside into SUNLIGHT...
OMG - we must be mutant freaks!
/sarcasm

ReplyDeleteLol with Chasing Heaven. I, too, tried to play the one before this one, I got stuck in a backyard going in circles, and I shot a guy totally by accident, and I could not figure out the controls. Oh well, my family had a good laugh.
ReplyDeleteI love my DS games, mostly with puzzle games. I have Animal Crossing and now I will have to try it, as others have played here and have liked it.
Hubby and the boys were (key word WERE) huge COD nuts.. My oldest spend all friday night/saturday after noon playing this on Xbox.. he came home and declaired this a huge dud.
ReplyDeleteHe has moved on to Battlefield 3 ;)
I will say this about COD, it did teach my boys some about history, which they went on to research more on their own.. so in away, I do have COD to thank for that. They are huge history buffs now.
I never liked it.. made me dizzy and I always got stuck and could only shoot rocks. I guess I am more of a Sims girl.
"you sound fat"?!? Who says that shit? Oh right. Trolls.
ReplyDeleteSometimes rapper say "you sound phat!" But I think that is something else
ReplyDeleteMy 20yr old son got it..
ReplyDeleteI was glad something took him off stupid FACEBOOK!
Haha thanks Kimberly. And Bnl, you are probably as fat as I am a bitch...remember that? But way to get on your high horse after starting the name-calling. Also, I didn't say anything about YOU or YOUR husband so no need to get all defensive. If the shoe fits, wear it, if not then who cares?
ReplyDeleteRocket Queen- If I remember correctly, you ARE fat, aren't you? So lol...I just enjoy this site because I have never seen a bigger collection of humorless, thin-skinned, uptight PC brigade fanatics on a freaking gossip site in my life. It's fascinating! So trolling...no, not really.
@Ron Paul - LOL. Sorry still sounds like you have the issues, not us.
ReplyDeleteYou were the one on your high horse talking about how "lucky" you were to have a husband who was above all the man-cave/football/video game stuff, and then yes, insinuated that the guys that do this stuff are children.
the more you comment the easier it is to see how immature you are. no, genuine adult ends a post with "PS".
i never even called you a bitch. you ended your post with "i hope i don't sound like a bitch" so i started mine with "you do SOUND like one". because you did. and by ending with that sentence, you knew it too.
And like I said, call me fat all you want if it makes you feel better. When something is blatantly not true, why would that bother me in the least.

ReplyDeleteI play games that look like cuddly cartoons. Like once or twice a year.
