Back To Black Dress Sells For $67,000

It took a long time after her death before clothes worn by Marilyn Monroe started selling for big bucks. It did not take very long at all for an Amy Winehouse dress to sell for crazy money. The dress that Amy wore on the cover of Back To Black was supposed to sell at auction for about $15,000. Instead, yesterday the dress sold for $67,000. The money went to the foundation started by Amy's father. Look, if you have the money and are an Amy Winehouse fan then obviously this is something you would like, but what do you do with it? Do you donate it to a museum or a Hard Rock Cafe? If you have it in your house, do you show it off to people? Do you keep it in your closet? Do you put it on and get a contact high?

  1. I don't know about the dresses, but yeah, if it were in my means I would donate to a museum... Not the Hard Rock though.

I understand more about the baseball cards though than buying a Marilyn dress. But I have friend who is an Elvis Presley freak and tried to buy once one his guitars. No one yet has made that a strong impression on me. Maybe one day.

  2. I have an olive oil cruet prop from the set of the original Godfather movie. I was told by the prop house guy who sold it to me to use it but I just have it displayed in my kitchen.

  3. If I fit into it, I'd wear it. It's a cute dress. I looooove her Fred Perry clothing line. I wish they made them for chunkers.

  4. This morning I read that a museum had bought it. Can't remember which country - not the US, not the UK.

  7. If you read the link, it was bought by the Fundacion Museo de la Moda (Fashion Museum Foundation) in Chile so ... yeah. I imagine it'll be in a museum.

  8. I just looked in my records. I got the prop from an eBay seller (jsnent) who still sells on eBay. He appears to have excellent feedback and I received a certificate of authenticity from the prop company.

  10. Ms. Cool - that is sooooo cool!

I just don't feel good about Dad there. Now that he's not on tour and back to driving cabs I suppose that money will just go into his pocket.

I have that museum on Chile on my list to visit. I hear it's wonderful down there!

  11. @ _-_=_ - Chile is great! I went about 5 years ago to visit a friend, it was beautiful, a lot like California actually. I only spent a day in Santiago, the rest of the time in the South. I'm jealous, have fun!

  13. I love that dress too, but I can't imagine trying to wear it after spending that much on it. At least the money went to her charity though!
