Zachary Quinto Comes Out

Thank goodness Zachary Quinto has finally come out. In an interview with New York Magazine, the actor said about bullying, "As a gay man I look at that and say there’s a hopelessness that surrounds it but as a human being I look at it and say ‘Why? Where’s this disparity coming from, and why can’t we as a culture and society dig deeper to examine that?’ We’re terrified of facing ourselves.”

I have for sure one blind item about Zachary but because it would have outed him I never revealed it. I will find it today and reveal it tomorrow. I am glad Zachary had the courage to come out and hope he gets a lot of love and support with his decision.

  1. Good for him! And I'm glad you didn't out him. It's personal and I think everyone should have the right to reveal to who, where, and when they want.

  2. It's not like we didn't know, but good for him! It's fucking 2011, people should be able to be who they are, and not be ashamed.

  3. Agree with the above sentiments- good for him, and wish him only the best. I too am glad that no one outed him other than himself, when he was ready and comfortable to do so.

And I still have the hots for him. Such a gorgeous man.

  4. I love Zach Quinto a lot, and I love him even more right now. He did it his way, on his time, but this interview will help a lot of people today and I really, really, really admire that. Yes, a lot of people knew, but a lot did not. This makes today a very good day. :)

  9. He was great as Sylar in Heroes, when the show went downhill I kept watching just to see his character.

He was looking so skinny for awhile, I hope he puts on a bit of weight.

  11. I read his blog earlier today. It's been such an open secret. I mean, how could people be surprised unless they were just deliberately ignoring the facts? I have great respect for Zachary Quinto.

    More power to him.

  14. Good for him! Hope he feels relieved for not having to hide.

On the other hand, bullies are there for every kind of person. I just had a conversation with a friend about a boss we used to have who very much is a bully (and we're all women). I do think, though, that in general, the extreme bullying we hear about is a small percentage of bullying. And now that it's a buzz word everyone wants to say they were bullied. Yeah, join the club. I don't think bullying is ever going to go away because it's something that may be ingrained in certain people, but definitely should work toward doing something about those who take it to the extreme and cause violence. Don't know how, but we should :-)

  15. Good for him! And I like that the Post didn't turn the whole interview about him being gay- that it was just something he mentioned a couple of times. Because really, it's just another facet to a person- not their whole personality.

  17. Love him! Sylar kept me watching Heroes for a long time. ZQ is a great actor.

Not surprised by this. Proud of him for being himself.

I remember a blind about a gay actor who refused to pander to his publicist and use a beard. I'm thinking this was ZQ.

  19. @Sis - I agree, he makes a hot Spock!

I feel very happy for him. No one should have to live their life in lies & cover-ups, and that is a hard thing to do even when one is not famous.
