Trey Parker & Matt Stone Targeted By Scientology

The Village Voice has a great piece from yesterday morning in their ongoing quest to see Scientology collapse. They received an official report from Marty Rathbun, the former top executive at Scientology who now does his part to bring it down via his blog. Apparently Scientology people were ticked off at the South Park episode in 2005 that made fun of Scientology so of course the top officials did there what they do best and started digging up trash on the pair and trash on the friends of the pair in an attempt to discredit them. What I think the executives do not understand is that if there was trash found, people would just love South Park that much more. These are not two guys who are trying to work their way up at a quiet conservative company.

If I were a member of Scientology, I think I would be asking church leaders why the heck my money was being spent on digging up dirt on two people who do not belong to the church and for what purpose. At some point people have to catch on and stop joining this church and stop giving them money and at that point hopefully it will implode on itself.

  1. I think one of the worst advertisements for COS is the fact Kirstie Alley is a member. If you can think back to pre-DWTS days, and if you followed her life on Twitter or her reality show - she is so sloppy, crass, sloppy, foul-mouthed, tacky, sloppy, bitter, negative, arrogant, sloppy and gross, I can't imagine the snooty Scientologists that look down on everyone are accepting of her. It clearly has to be for her money. I honestly wouldn't want any part of a cult that has a member like her.

  2. @Princess, I'd second that and say that Tom Cruise is the second best example of why Scientology sucks.

John Travolta, on the other hand...this is just my impression, but I have this feeling that he is an okay guy, but they have him by the short hairs with things he admitted in auditing and have threatened to reveal everything if he were to leave. But I could be wrong.

  3. And yes, I'd think Trey and Matt would offer them more information about themselves, cuz they wouldn't give a shit what got out. They are hilarious.

  4. I don't give a crap if Scientologists say the moon is made of cheese.

What I do care about is that they convinced the Gov't they are a religion and are tax exempt.

This is a self help group not a religon let them pay taxes and go buck wild in digging up dirt on whoever. But this free tax ride while they own mansions galore has got to stop.

  5. I just finished reading a book called "Inside Scientology" and cannot recommend it enough. It is absolutely infuriating what this organization gets away with - destroying lives literally & figuratively. I would love it if in my lifetime it was brought down and some members charged with the appropriate crimes.

I do agree with Figgy about JT - he seems like a good guy who is in a bad situation. It's too bad, because I think there would be more support for him from the masses if he defected and they revealed all of his emeter admissions. He could have the power to bring this travesty down.

  6. they must be well paranoid to be worried by 2 trash writers:honestly who cares what South Park's writers think?
(South Park writers think Barbra Streisands is the devil and THE CURE's Robert Smith will save the world!)The Scientologist executives lack humor!

  7. CB--I read the same book and I also highly recommend it. Jaw dropping reading.
As far as the "church" wasting money on having people dig through the trash, well digging is free and the church members do not get paid hardly anything to do the dirty work of the church so it is really not costing anyone very much. Not that I am condoning that.

  9. Unless they dug up dirt that the guys stole every single joke, it's so true that it only makes us love them more.

The main reason I absolutely love them (besides their Libertarian leanings) - they just don't give a fuck!

  11. South Park for life.

I try to not judge people's religion, but I totally give the sideeye to Scientologists. It is just so cult like. I still can not get over the fact that Greta Van Susteran is a Scientologist because I find her to be such a rational and thoughtful journalist. I know its wrong to judge someone based on religion, but I can't help it in this case.

  13. Scientologists don't have a sense of humor.

  14. Hey hey now. As a bacon & margarita loving Muslim I resent the Scientology comparison but don't care for the most part. We aren't all bad! Just the f*cked up ones.

  16. Just finished reading a book called "Abuse at the top" by an 'escaped' member. I can't imagine allowing anyone or anything to have that much control over my life.

  17. Hasn't JT been rumored to have sexually harassed masseuses? As in grabbing them? I can't get behind anyone who would do that kind of crap.

  18. ^Allegedly. ;) I have definitely read many stories about that.

All this is going to do is give them more ammunition to make fun of the church, so carry on, Scientologists.
