Today's Blind Items - Kindness
It has been awhile since I have had a kindness to report, but I think the wait was worthwhile. This is a great one. This one involves an actress who I had no idea was capable of such great lengths of kindness. She mostly stays out of the limelight. She has had a nice career as a model and actress, but it has never been spectacular, although she can look pretty spectacular at times. I think her name puts her higher on the list than she otherwise would be. That and her choices for significant others who have been B list actors. She is probably a C+, but with all the bonus points is a B-.
Anyway, the other day, our actress was with her child/ren and had just put said child/ren into the car when a woman approached her. At first the actress thought the woman wanted an autograph and when it was obvious the actress was not recognized by the woman she thought it was someone about to ask her for money. Wrong on both counts. The woman had just got off a bus about five minutes earlier. In her haste to get off the bus she had left behind her purse. A big purse filled with what she called her "life."
She had no car and no phone and had no way of catching up with the bus. Other people had apparently blown her off and not done anything to help. Our actress agreed to help in a second. She got the woman in the car while they started to follow the path of the bus. At the same time the actress handed her cell phone over to the woman who then tried to call and have the transit authority tell the bus driver what had happened and to watch for her purse. After about ten minutes of serious traffic the pair caught up to a bus on the route who had stopped. The actress literally pulled in front of the bus so it could not move while the woman got out and ran to the bus driver and to look for her purse. Wrong bus. Plus, the bus driver was not willing to help the woman by radioing anyone because he had no idea what bus it was and all he wanted was for the actress to move her car so he could keep going. Back in the car they went and this time there was no traffic and after another 5 or 6 minutes they caught up with another bus. The actress pulled the same trick as before and the woman jumped out and ran to the bus driver who saw the woman and held up the purse. Someone had seen the woman get off the bus and leave behind her purse and handed it to the driver. The woman would not stop shaking or crying or hugging the bus driver. When she finally got off the bus and returned to the actresses' car, the woman expected to just be told to catch a bus back to where she began, but the actress laughed and instead took the woman home. The woman still has no idea who the actress is.
Marvelous! This is even better than bailing someone out financially.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait for a reveal on this one
ReplyDeleteMilla Jovovich?
ReplyDeleteThat is awesome.
ReplyDeleteBecky Romaine Lettuce.
ReplyDeleteElle McPherson
ReplyDeleteLets think about this for a moment. The woman still has no idea who the actress is. That would mean that the actress is going around telling this story? Because there would be no way the woman could tell the story if she doesn't know the actress - so if the actress is the one telling the story, how does she know the woman expected to be told to catch a bus after it was over? I am suspicious of people that go around spouting off about their own good deeds, so I'm just trying to figure where this story would have come from, and can't help but wonder about this stuff, sorry.
ReplyDeleteIf the woman still doesn't know who the actress is, then how did this get out? The actress talking about it? I will guess Rebecca Romaine (sp) as well.
ReplyDeleteI guess that Milla hasn't dated any B-list actors, although she has dated several celebs, so I'll scrap her as my guess.
ReplyDeleteI like Rebecca Romijn or Elle MacPherson for this.
The story could've gotten out just by the actress telling a friend or two. It's a good story!
ReplyDeleteTo be fair, the actr-model could have told a friend or two who felt compelled to share the story. I find that people who have "famous friends" LOVE to talk about their "famous friends".
ReplyDeleteI hope this story is true, but I'm skeptical too.
ReplyDeleteNot to be all negative, but since she had her kid(s) with her, this could have been an especially dangerous situation.
ReplyDeleteI think Enty knows the model/actress and she told him the story. She may not have been blabbing about it to everyone.
ReplyDeleteMaybe someone on the bus recognized the model/actress, but for the whole story to be known she probably told a friend. Sounds like Rebecca Romijn, she seems to have a fantastic attitude.
ReplyDeleteI love a happy ending..
ReplyDelete@Cathy
ReplyDeleteI thought that too. Imagine this lady was a crazy and tried something in the car. However, I think people's instincts are good and you'd think you'd know if someone was unstable like that?
I thought Romjin was supposed to be a big bitch? If not, I'm sorry I ever thought she was.
ReplyDeleteLiv Tyler. Not sure why but that's my guess.
ReplyDeleteLike Cathy said, I would never let a stranger in my car if I had my children with me. This could have turned out very badly.
ReplyDeleteWhile I admire her courage, I have lousy instincts about people and I know it. I would have called the bus company but I wouldn't have let her in the car. Sorry.
ReplyDeleteDef RR.
ReplyDeleteI agree with the Liv Tyler guess. Rebecca Romijn generally ALWAYS looks spectacular, for one thing, whereas Liv's looks range from dowdy to gorgeous, depending on the day/event. And that clue about the subject's name giving her slightly more recognition seems like a tip-off, too. Most people are always going to think of Liv as Steven's daughter. Besides, she hasn't really been in the limelight lately. The girl really does tend to keep to herself.
ReplyDeleteRebecca Romaine (sp?) was my first thought, too. I ALSO don't think it's suspicious that others found out - if this had happened to me I'd be telling a bunch of people, too, since it really is a good story. As for letting a stranger in the car - not something I'd normally do, at all, but maybe her instincts were on and she felt no danger. Either way I'm glad it all worked out :)
ReplyDeleteOne more thing: doesn't Rebecca live in LA? I'm pretty sure Liv's homebase is NYC, and this blind definitely gives off East Coast Metropolitan vibes. Not that LA doesn't have public transit, of course, but I just pictured this taking place in Manhattan.
ReplyDeleteI do like the Live guess except I don't think this is ny - there is never no traffic there, and it would be impossible to catch to a bus, you're pretty stuck where you are.
ReplyDelete@msgirl -- Point taken...but have you ever braved LA's bus system?! In terms of which city has shittier traffic, it's hard to judge -- but I'd say LA handily takes the prize.
ReplyDeleteLiv Tyler has always dated random musicians, no? I didn't think she was a big actor dater.
ReplyDeleteCindy Crawford
ReplyDelete"Shittier"? That's funny.
ReplyDeleteShitty, shittier, shittiest.
I'm sorry, but people who leave their shit drive me crazy. Lost car keys, sunglasses, wallets, purses? Do you know how many times I ever "forgot" my purse? Uh, never. Take care of your crap people.
While it was a great random act of kindness, I don't think I would have allowed the woman in my car with my kids.
@ms snarky -- True, true. I know she married and later divorced that ugly dude from Spacehog (sorry; I speak the truth), but I wasn't sure if she'd dated other famous men.
ReplyDelete@Cashmere -- Cindy was a gigantic supermodel in the late eighties/early-to-mid nineties -- perhaps THE biggest and most famous of them all. She was EVERYWHERE. I'd say she's a permanent A-lister, personally, if we're just going by her fashion career. Besides, she's got that telltale mole. Who *wouldn't* recognize her?
I can see it being Rebecca, I guess...
I say Rebecca Romaine.
ReplyDeleteI've seen Rebecca Romijn in person on a number of occasions and she can look very ordinary when not done up, so that's a very plausible guess.
ReplyDeleteIf I had been helping the woman & we found the bag & she had no idea who I was, I would think it was funny and tell my friends & family. Because I have a sense of humor.
ReplyDeleteBut yes, thank god the woman was not a nut.
@califblondy I feel your pain, but sadly I'm one of the people that inflicts it! I have a very patient boyfriend though who could rage for hours about my forgetfullness! My cell phone is the usual victim, athough with the addition of a baby and all her stuff I did almost walk away from my purse at the grocery store the other day! Ooops!
ReplyDeleteI do think this is Rebecca Romaine though. She was with Stamos now O'Connell, I'd agree with B- based on name recognition... one of the rare times the ranking system seems to make sense!! Good for her for helping, sounds like once she sets her mind to something she gets shit done!
Elle, Milla or Rebecca. Definitely 1 of the 3 I think.
ReplyDeletetoo sweet!
ReplyDeleteDish, it's the reverse for me and my fella. He forgets at least ten things per day and unfortunately for him, I do not have the patience of your boyfriend. LOL.
ReplyDeleteIf I had been the celeb and had my kid(s) with me, I probably would have paid for a cab and followed behind in my car, just to make sure everything worked out okay.
ReplyDeleteGreat story - why be skeptical?!
ReplyDeleteI have to say my friends and I have had plenty of crazy hijinks, not unlike this...you just have to be an open person and nutty adventures will find you. :)
Maybe it helps to live in a big city?
It's Gayle King
ReplyDeleteBFF-Oprah
Kids- Will and Kirby
Divorced - Yes
Talk Show - OWN and Oprah Radio
Elle "the body" McPhereson had to many major magazine covers and was a household name for her career to be considered anything less than spectacular. She along with Cindy Crawford were major names and faces when they were working. And Elle dated more of the billionaire set.
ReplyDeleteHow about Denise Richards? She did some modeling and is popular for her dating life.
ReplyDeleteI like the Liv Tyler guess. @califblondy, when my four kids were younger and I was always thinking about ten things at once, I loaded all of my kids and groceries into the car and left my purse in the cart. I even walked the cart to the cart holder thing and still didn't notice it was in there. Doh! I'm surprised I never forgot one of my kids in the store.
ReplyDeleteIt is impossible to guess who this is. Her instincts were right and the stranger didn't hurt her or her kids. Enty is a lawyer and knows everybody so there is no mystery that he would hear this story. I await the reveal.
ReplyDeleteThis is a great story! Made me tear up just a little.
ReplyDeleteI think it's Jessica Alba, although her past boyfriends may not qualify.
