Remember when Rosie O'Donnell did her first interview about her new girlfriend? She had said the only reason Rosie even talked to her was because she assumed she was straight. Well, it turns out the girlfriend's parents also thought she was straight and had no idea their daughter liked other women until Rosie started talking about it on Howard Stern. Is that something Rosie should have done? Wouldn't you want to be the one to tell your own parents? Apparently Rosie also said she had met both parents of her girlfriend but really only met the mom and I guess when they met the mom they did not share the lesbian part? Maybe Rosie did not know that her girlfriend had not shared with the parents. Awkward.
I think a big part of this is that Rosie's girlfriend's family are very conservative and finding out their daughter prefers women over men was a huge shock and then finding out that the outspoken Rosie is the woman their daughter prefers was probably another huge shock. I say they will get over it. I also think perhaps the entire family should sit down this holiday season and hug it out over some eggnog.
Rosie has a big mouth. I'm starting to lean towards her as the host from yesterday's blind item.
ReplyDeleteEr, if they're having pictures taken with their arms around each other, I'm pretty sure her parents would have figured it out sooner or later.
ReplyDeleteYour sentence "Apparently Rosie also said she had met both parents of her girlfriend but really only met the mom" makes no sense. Did she meet both parents, or just the mom?
ReplyDeleteAnd yeah, she should have kept quiet about the relationship until her girlfriend was ready to share the news with her family.
Um, if your daughter is hanging out with Rosie O'Donnell 24/7, it's time to live in the now and get over your prejudices.
ReplyDeleteI don't think Rosie did anything wrong. Like Rocket Queen said, they've been photographed getting cuddly with each other. The only people who suck in this situation are the bigoted parents.
The disclosure most likely brought the girlfriend and girlfriend's father closer together.
ReplyDeleteThey both enjoy eating at the Y.
she looks like an older brooke mueller minus the crack.
ReplyDeleteI don't blame rosie on this one. she didn't know. and, if the girlfriend wanted to keep it a secret, she should have told rosie. thats a big thing not to share.
ReplyDeleteThe girlfriend is not a kid, she should have told her parents ages ago.
ReplyDeleteI heard the interview with Rosie, she was just talking like a normal person, not blabbing secrets. Their relationship is out in the open, so if the father didn't know his daughter was gay before this, then he was probably willingly keeping his head in the sand, hoping she would find a nice man to settle down with.
ReplyDeleteAlso, the girlfriend is a very successful, high-level headhunter, and I think she and Rosie are living together. Way to pretend the truth isn't out there, Dad.
ReplyDeleteHmmm, this never came up in conversation?
ReplyDeleteSounds like B.S. to me.
I listened to the interview. It's funny to me that Rosie absolutely hated Howard for years and now they're best buds.
ReplyDeleteThat lovely woman that Rosie is with is too old to have to hide the truth from her parents. I hope it all works out well for the two of them.
Does this seem like Anne Heche and Ellen to anyone else? Maybe she just wants to be famous and is using Rosie like Anne did w/Ellen. Just a thought.
ReplyDeleteWell the GF is stunningly gorge! (in that pic, anyway)
ReplyDeleteMaybe I'm just a big ole' skeptic, but I don't see this relationship lasting for too long. I totally agree with you, Sherry.
ReplyDeleteThat was my thought too RQ.
ReplyDeleteThank goodness the other Sherry has an avatar otherwise it would seem very confusing to wish them well one minute and express skepticism the next. Too funny!
ReplyDeleteI don't believe this, come on, how could it happen? Rosie's girlfriend, if she indeed wasn't previously "out", would have said something to her parents the MOMENT she started dating Rosie, knowing she'd be photographed and talked about... I don't buy this.
ReplyDeleteI agree 100% with EmEyeKay. If you want to be on the dl, don't date a high-profile activist-type celebrity who's launching a new talk show.
ReplyDeleteAlso agree that she's extremely attactive in a really elegant kind of way which is so much nicer than the nasty Real Housewives.
It's not like the girlfriend wouldn't have known Rosie was going on Howards show - maybe she should have had a talk with her mom first? I say this is pretty much all on the GF - guess she was too scared to tell them but she had to know it was going to get back to them.
ReplyDeleteRosie played my sister in a movie, so I have a place in my heart for her, no matter what.
ReplyDeleteBut seriously, who would want Rosie as an in-law...gay or straight.
ReplyDeleteI like Rosie and hope this relationship works out for her. About Howard Stern, he did not like her at first, they made up and forged a likeable and respectful relationship. He was on her radio show several times and was hilarious! He was trying to get the sex scoop on everyone there and Rosie was somewhat bashful about it, it was funny. Howard has a way about him that gets people to talk.
ReplyDeleteSomething about this isn't adding up. They are denying they ever met her??
ReplyDeleteSounds like the parents don't want to face reality to me.
as a parent, it would hurt me to my core to find out that my child was, 1) in a serious relationship and had shared that w/ everyone but me, &, 2) that they felt they could not share their sexual preferance w/ me.
ReplyDeletei would feel HORRIBLE to be so excluded from my childs life. what is the deal? this is grown woman, who gets to make her own choices.
Sounds like there's some miscommunication or failure to comprehend somewhere in all that.
ReplyDeleteEveryone seems to be objecting to the parents because Rosie is gay. The fact is that I would have no problem with a gay daughter but I would go ballistic if she started dating Rosie. Rosie is an unpleasant person with well publized control and anger issues and any parent would object to their child dating someone like that irrespective of gender or sexual orientation.
