  1. After watching Amber Heard in the Playboy Club (which I quite liked, by the way) it looks like she has lost about 40 lbs. I'd love to know the reason.. she looked great before.

  2. finally, j. garner in something non-frumpy! she looks adorable.

  3. ok, that picture of Johnny Depp being man handled by his security makes me understand why celebrities sometimes get all bent out of shape about fans....for about a second, then I remember the millions they make and think to myself "yep, I could deal with it"

  4. I don't think that Geri H. looks lovely at all.

    Amber Heard is gorgeous!

  5. George Michael is probably waiting for someone to pay him big bucks for his big announcement.

And I don't think Gerri Halliwell looks lovely at all. Don't wear foundation with sunscreen, or HD powder, when there's going to be flash photography.

  6. The whisking away of Johnny from fans is puzzling. I've said it here before that when he was in PR making "The Rum Diary" he was extremely accommodating to fans. In fact, when security took measures to whisk him away, he rebuffed them and shook as many hands, posed for pics, etc., as he could and even when in the window-darkened SUV, rolled the window down so people could see him. I observed these things myself. So I don't think it was on his request that he was taken away like that and it doesn't look like it.

Having said that, I wouldn't mind being the person with my arms around him like that! ;-)

  7. I agree with Maja that Ginger Spice looks awful. Her forehead is obviously botoxed to hell because her eyes WANT to smile, but she just comes off looking scary.

  8. Gabourney Sidibe is bigger than ever, sigh. Come on girl...think of your health. Think of the tremendous opportunity you are blowing.

  9. LMAO Maja! @George Michael waiting for money for his big announcement! That is some funny shit!

As a bigger woman myself, I applaud Gabourney's fashion choice here. Nice color, big enough, with sleeves.

@ figgy: what makes you think that fat people don't think about our health? That's assumptive. Speaking only for myself--we all have burdens. Some drink, smoke, do drugs, have crazy sex. I eat too much. It's no picnic, trust me.

Except at a picnic if potato salad is being served. :-)

  14. LOL, Maja!

I think it's awesome that Gabourney is working it just as she is. After all, obesity is less bad for your health than being excessively underweight, so she's better off than most of the women in Hollywood. She totally stole the Tower Heist trailer, and I hope she steals the movie.

James Cromwell is one of the greats. He makes any movie he's in so much better just with his presence.

About Johnny - if there is a big crush of fans, it might be dangerous for them if Johnny lingered. I think it depends on the situation how they deal with it. And it sure looks like the security guy is running the show, not Johnny, lol.

  15. It was not Johnny's fans who were out of control in NY, it was the autograph hounds. They were trying to jump and climb over the fans who had been waiting for hours, putting them in danger. That's why security guy pulled Johnny away, before anyone got hurt. Those autograph guys think they are entitled because they make money out of Johnny's signature.

Johnny and his security work hard to sign for fans, but those autograph hounds are a**holes.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and speculate that if George Michael has gained that much weight, he might be clean. One can hope.

  17. Actually, I think Gabourney looks as if she's lost a few pounds.

James Franco is really cute. Too bad he's such a tool.

  18. I love Gabourey on "The Big C". She is a sassy young lady and she keeps getting work which is awesome. She is obviously intelligent so I'm sure that if her weight did lead to serious health problems, she'd have the presence to do something about it...but it is actually possible to be fat and healthy. More power to her if that is the case!

  19. Ladies. Therebis absolutely nothing wrong with being a big girl. Society is warped and not all women are born stick thin and a size 4. With that said its nice to see a woman who is comfortable in her own body and very talented however Gabby is not overweight, she is morbidly obese. She is putting serious stress on all her body systems including her heart and musculoskeletal system. She is very young and to be that massive is just so incredibly unhealthy. She needs to start considering a lower calorie diet and exercise asap. It would be a shame for an actress of her caliber to die due to morbid obesity complications. To those who defended her size...feel free to rage at me.

  20. Good lord. How about we let celebrities and their doctors worry about their weight and keep our opinions about their health to ourselves? Seems like just another way to tear women down to me.

  21. I won't rage at you, Ashlea, but I'll make you a sandwich if you hungray!

  22. @Moosh: Where'd you get the idea that being underweight is worse for you than being overweight? It certainly is not. So we don't get periods (but then it's my understanding that the overweight don't, either, so that's a wash), and our bones are brittle from calcium deficiency, but that's about it. Big deal. Our hearts aren't ready to burst, we're not at risk of diabetes, our gallbladders don't have stones, our blood pressure is cool (mine's always been on the low side (90/60), even), and we're not walking around on the verge of stroking out.

The only REAL problem with being underweight is that if we get stressed or depressed for a week and lose our appetites, then people start pestering us with the "Are you okay? You look sick" crap that you're all giving Demi Moore right now. It's as if all our emotional stuff is worn on the outside and we can't keep it private.

I'm with RQ; I think it's rude to discuss other peoples' weight. Ever. That oughtta be off the table. Even within your own family. Hmph. *Especially* within your own family.

  24. "...those autograph hounds are a**holes."

Truer words were never spoken. And then they're the ones that spread the rumors "so and so wouldn't sign autographs for fans." Um, you aren't a fan, you're even lower scum than the paparazzi.

  29. @shehla: It seems to have become "judge-y" here because whoever's been writing for "Enty" the past few months is wearing some heavy-duty bitter boots and it's made the membership forget what "gossip" means. (Don't believe me? Go back to a year ago and read the blog posts. *Entirely* different tone.) The attitude trickles down from the top. People will quit shredding celebrities here with Freddie Krueger claws when they start feeling uncomfortable doing so.

In the meantime, things'll keep going downhill, like with scary Kimberly.

  31. More than one study has shown that the risk of mortality (not morbidity) is much higher for those who are significantly UNDERweight than those who are significantly OVERweight. That said, and coming from someone who has been overweight most of my life, I have to say that it's possible to be healthy at any weight and it's not up to us to decide someone's health by their weight, either above or under a "healthy" BMI. You can be healthy at 90 pounds and you can be healthy at 300 pounds. Stats are stats.

But I do agree with Moosh absolutely--I think this is just another way for us to tear down women's bodies and to judge women based on their appearance (and I'm not just looking at YOU, "Kimberley"). How can anyone ever be emotionally healthy about their weight when society spends so much time deciding whether someone is too fat, or more rarely, too skinny?

And....oh, hell, just to contradict myself: George Michael? If he's not waiting for Kneepads to come through with the money for his announcement, then I'd dare say that he's not clean and sober but has been indulging in the munchies.

  32. Gladys, I love you. I struggle myself with not being judgy about people's weight - I am trying to never again say "she needs to eat a cookie." It's hard to separate being critical about women because of their size from the fact that the media message that you should be super-thin no matter what the cost is a nasty, evil thing, and there are a ton of actresses who are clearly "too thin" for what nature intended for them.

I don't quite agree with Shehla, but I do think there's a difference between noticing that Demi Moore has lost a lot of weight since the rumors about Ashton started, and going after Gabourey, who looks damn cute in that photo, imo, and as Mango says, she looks to have lost a fair amount of weight, which seems to suggest she is currently leading a healthier lifestyle. Not that it's "okay" to talk about Demi's weight, but it's more like regular celeb gossip, and not body-shaming, which going after Gabourey is.

  33. Eddie Murphy was on Letterman and it was a snoozefest! Letterman didn't ask him about appearing on SNL or anything of interest. Letterman usually goes after people too. I found it interesting that Eddie remembered the entire SNL cast who started with him in 1980. Epic failure Dave!

  34. @shehla - please don't speak for everyone here. Many/most of us have NEVER "made fun" of Amy Winehouse. If you want to go ahead and poke fun at someone's weight, by all means...I can't and won't stop you, but I personally don't do it because I think women have a hard enough time accepting their bodies and shit like that doesn't help.
