Courtney Love Would Kill Kurt Cobain All Over Again

I guess the first time was not good enough for Courtney Love. In an interview with Vanity Fair, Courtney Love decides not to talk about The Bean's $2M home purchase. Why does a 19 year old need a $2M house when she does not even live in the state where the house is? I digress. Anyway, Courtney, when asked if she is mad at Kurt still says, “Mad? Ya think?! If he came back right now I’d have to kill him, for what he did to us. I’d fucking kill him. I’d fuck him, and then I’d kill him." Not much different from the first time.

I love how Courtney also says the only reason she is not working right now is because she is so consumed with discovering the fraud in Kurt's finances. Uh huh. Is fraud a new word for substance abuse? Apparently I have a lot of anger towards Courtney this morning.

  2. Sorry, I know I was just a teenager when Kurt killed himself but why do people blame Courtney for his death?

I can't stand her and think she is a terrible mother but I feel like I'm missing something.

Ed Norton was the best thing to ever happen to her and yet she was the worst thing to happen to him.

  3. Discussing your daughter's estrangement in print? CLASSY.

A friend of mine dated the guy who was the live-in nanny at the time of Kurt's death (he was even implicated as a possible accomplice to murder), and the former nanny is pretty convinced that Courtney had a LOT to do with Kurt's death. Shady, shady, shady shit.

I think Frances Cobain seems like an enormously strong and courageous young woman. Imagine all the growing-up she was forced to do at an age when most kids are still wide-eyed and totally innocent. :-/

  4. Okay @Ida--please spill!! :-D Tell us the shady bits!!!

  5. This one never grows up. We get it, Courtney, you like sex a lot. /eyeroll
There was an interview a month or so ago where the interviewer was talking about how she still takes a ton of pills while claiming to be sober, and stays up all hours of the night obsessing over people who have done her wrong. Everything is someone else's fault. Very Lindsay Lohan.

  6. It's very dumb to show the reporter your daughter's diary and wonder why you're not on the things that make me smile list.

    That is very interesting Ida.

  7. @figgy -- A college friend told me this stuff close to a decade ago, but Courtney even started a smear campaign against the guy. It was clearly meant to deflect blame away from her, since she was the ~grieving widow~ and all.

I am always, always reluctant to actually name people in situations like this, but I can tell you that the former nanny's initials are M.D. There. Sleuth away. ;-)

I mean...I just know that my friend wouldn't have stayed with a murderous man for as long as she did if she had some sneaking suspicion that he was involved. She trusted his innocence, and I do, too.

  8. I have this image of her chain smoking and muttering to herself while digging through papers looking for "proof". I didn't know she was all caught up in some conspiracy theory but it's somehow perfect.

  9. Courtney didn't kill Kurt. Not directly or indirectly.

He talked about suicide a lot and there are documented other times he tried it when she wasn't even present.

And I have to say - he left her and her infant child and put this on her. I understand being in pain - but suicide is a selfish act. Get help. I would be mad at him if I were her too.

  10. Frances Bean bought the house so Kurt's mother and Aunt can live there and i'm sure it is also an investment and a way to keep Courtney's paws off her trust fund. What lengths didn't Courtney go to to get a crack at it. Disgusting.

Bean is more adult and responsible then Courtney ever was or will be.

God it makes me crazy that the only time Courtney trots out Kurt's ghost is when she wants magazine or TV time. Kurt killed himself to get away from her in my book.

  11. Courtney KILLED Kurt. Directly. Read up, it's all out there.

I'm usually suicidal too, but it doesn't mean I CAN'T BE MURDERED.

  12. After googling it, the private investigator Courtney thinks she & the nanny did it.

  13. I meant the one Courtney hired.

  14. Can you give the initials of your friend Ida? Since I know things too, I find it difficult to believe what you're saying. Mike doesn't think that way, and I can ask if the "friend" you're talking about exists. Mike's lil brother and Kurt's lil bro remain friends to this day, think Kurt commited suicide.

  15. Yeah libby - I've read Tom
    Grant's crap.

    Doesn't mean I believe it.

How come no one close to him (his mother, bandmates, etc.) - all whom have had public problems with Courtney - have never made that claim?

    ReplyDelete
  16. I agree with Cecilia - I've read many books regarding Kurt and it is well documented that he was extremely suicidal - Courtney atleast tried to get clean during her pregnancy and after Bean was born. Kurt was a very lost soul for a long time, I do believe she took advantage of that especially with the money - but she didn't kill him.

  17. Yeah, there was an incident in Brazil where they had to keep switching hotels because he kept threatening to jump out of the windows of the hotel rooms - until they found a first floor room. Courtney wasnt present.

Secondly - if Courtney is the manipulative gold digging bitch I am to believe she is - I would have to believe she had him killed just as a huge Lollapalooza payday was coming in.

  18. @popcorn -- Honestly -- like I said before -- my friend related this stuff a LONG time ago (and noooooo, I won't provide you with her initials, sorry!). She was the one who said that Courtney was shady, and that was probably due to what her boyfriend at the time told her about the circumstances surrounding Kurt's death. I, too, think it was a suicide -- but Courtney's actions afterward were a little questionable, to say the least. Hell, they're STILL questionable.

Again -- from what *she* said, M.D. was implicated, but had nothing to do with it. That's just always what I've taken away from the case, and from what my trustworthy friend told me (which is obviously hearsay. Fascinating hearsay, but hearsay, nonetheless). Just so you know -- she wasn't slamming her ex -- she was defending him.

The former live in nanny's name was Michael DeWitt.

  21. Yeah I can believe some stuff about Courtney - like, I can believe they were talking/threatening eachother with divorce - but you know...the drugs (which they both did of their own free will) made their relationship chaotic - and that's a far cry from killing.

To believe Tom Grant...I also have to believe that someone injected him with enough heroin to kill him - and an O.D. would not be questioned much by anyone - but decided to top it off with a gun shot to the head, which of course would attract serious attention.

    ReplyDelete
  22. I don't believe you/your friend's story Ida. Mike thinks Kurt commited suicide, and since I can ask if your friend was Mike's girlfriend once and you don't provide initials, let me doubt your statement.

@Enty, Frances lives in California. She's been there since late 2009. Frances left highschool when she ran away from Courtney, so she's not attending Bars or any university, the girl doesn't even have her hs diploma. I think false reports were confusing you ;)

  23. Interesting how so many people have connections to this.

I am very closely tied with Nirvana's old record label. One of my close friends is another recording artist for SubPop - or was I should say. So I know -well more used to know - some of the handlers over there.

My conclusion given everything I have heard, I believe it was a fishy circumstance, there are things that just don't fit a suicide. While I think some of the points made are weird, I still think it WAS suicide. However, I do believe Courtney was the worst thing to ever happen to Kurt. Huge enabler, hugely lead to his downfall than had he be left to his own devices, especially because she knew what she had to gain by his death.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Although I do believe there were shady circumstances around Kurt's death (again, I am a big lover of conspiracy theories and some of the best ones out there involve musicians and the music industry), I read the whole Tom Grant report when I was in high school and I kind of always had the feeling that he was being conned as well - to create this big controversy around the "suicide" to cover up something bigger. He's kind of a loon himself. And I'm sorry, but Courtney is really, really intelligent - had she been behind Kurt's murder, nobody would ever have had any reason to think she was.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Gawd, she's just awful, blaming him even though he's dead. I don't think she killed him. He killed himself. Probably to get away from her. (Yeah, that was mean. I reprimand myself.)

After Kurt's death she was left with huge sums of money which she promptly frittered away. She did a piss-poor job raising her child. It's the only real and important job she's ever had and she screwed it up. A mature person would have focused on that like a laser and done a good job. Not this selfish and self-indulgent COW. Basic maternal responsibilities, stuff that comes naturally to any other mammal: Too Much for Courtney. And don't start whining about her dysfunctional background. Fuck that. People at some point have to take responsibility for themselves, otherwise everyone's off the hook and, please, think about it, you don't want that.

Once again, I reprimand myself for being mean. (I mean every word.)

  26. @popcorn -- You're obviously more of an insider, and you're free to doubt my statement. That's totally fine, and perfectly reasonable, seeing as how we don't *know* each other. To ME, this is merely conspiratorial -- not personal. There are tons of theories surrounding the circumstances of Kurt's death. And again, *sigh*, like I said before: based on what I've read and have been told, I, too, think it was a suicide, but Courtney's actions afterward struck me as shady, and MY friend found them shady, too, based on what she heard at the time.

I was informed that M.D. thought Courtney may have been involved somehow, but if he thinks she was totally innocent, then so be it. That's just another theory to toss into the pile. I will take your word for it that he thinks she was uninvolved, but I still think it's weird that he was even brought up as a suspect in the first place; I always thought Courtney had something to do with that, and so did my friend.

Also, you're freely using your pal's first name in a public setting -- and that's cool if you feel like doing so -- but *I* don't really feel like setting up an acquaintance as the subject of some blind item within the comments. Even initials are too much info, and I won't provide them. I only provided the other info because it's easy for anyone to google.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Truthfully - alot of this is like the Amanada Knox thing. If you have read up on it and studied it you can draw your own conclusions because an exactly accurate account of what what down will never come out. No matter how much inside info you have. As I said I too know ppl who were just as close to the situation as the nanny was and all they can do is speculate as well.

Especially because due to these conspiracy theorists and investigations, there's not much that's not out there and easy to find if you do some google digging.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I love a good conspiracy theory too and this one has always piqued my interest.

She is STILL dealing w/ "fraud issues" over his estate/finances? STILL?

    ReplyDelete
  29. Bullshit, Courtney is mad over Kurt's death. Whether she killed him/had him killed or he killed himself, his death was the best thing to ever happen to her. She got exactly what she wanted out of the deal: sympathy, fame, and money.

    ReplyDelete
  30. And the fraudulent activity on his estate is a fucking joke. It's Courtney. She's the one who pissed away the money, it's just that she's too fucking drugged up to remember she did it.

    ReplyDelete
  31. she's a drama queen,addict with almost every thing(drugs,meds,shoppping,men...)and a survivor

Cobain killed himself alone:he was self destructive, heroin addict and tried to suicide several times (i remember he tried once in Rome)

  33. If Courtney had wanted Kurt dead, all she had to do was sit back when he OD'd in Rome and let him die. She didn't have to save his life, but she DID. The reality is that Kurt was an incredibly fucked up man; one of my idols, incredibly talented, but incredibly fucked up. Was Courtney bad for him? Sure! Was he abusing drugs to numb the pain of his stomach problems long before he met her? You betcha! Kurt killed Kurt, just like Kurt made the choice to use heroin. All the conspiracy theorists need to do a bit more homework and grasp the fact that there is not one iota of evidence pointing to Courtney as a viable suspect. This was a suicide; why on earth would COurtney kill off her cash cow? Even if he WERE going to divorce her she would clean house settlement-wise, both for alimony AND child support. I suppose she killed Kristen too?

  34. Cecilia - before you go around accusing someone who has committed suicide of being selfish, you may want to do a little research into mental illness, depression, drug addiction and the like, or speak to a suicide counsellor who had dealt with and lost people to suicide. People with compromised mental health are often incapable of thinking clearly, and truly believe the world is better off without them. I don't want to get into a big thing about it here because it's been done to death, but I personally get really offended when people who commit suicide are labeled by people who don't know them at all or who have no idea what it's like to live in that state of mind. It's awful.

  37. Thanks - sorry if I came off harsh, but it's a sore spot with me, having lost my father this way and knowing people with chronic depression. I wouldn't wish that state of mind on anyone :(

    ReplyDelete
  38. I don't care what any of youse guys say, Courtney is one classy dame!

But seriously, do I think she murdered him? No. Was she a co-dependent enabler? Yes. Hell yes,

    ReplyDelete
  39. Anyone here know her from her Portland or LA days... I imagine they'd have a lot to say re what she is capable of and how she "dealt" with people even back then, or rather, how she had them dealt with.

And an interview with the LA Times back in 1998 really gave me pause, when talking about Kurt's death she actually made the comment, "I'll never forget the sound of that gun going off." Okay hunny, but if you weren't there (she was supposedly in LA at the time of his death), how did you hear it?

  40. Our local radio station is currently doing a tribute for the TWENTY year anniversary of Nevermind. Way to make me feel old as the hills!

  41. I sternly believe that when someone commits suicide they are not in their right mind or, not "there" so to speak. Too many unselfish, but depressed or addicted, self loathing individuals have chosen what so many call the "easy" way out bit to them was the hardest and only decision they could make based on their situations. RQ, you said it very nicely and even those who know the reality of suicide still need the reminder occasionally :)

I know why her mom was not in her diary because I was raised by an addict. It hit even harder when I became a mom and realized she chose her addictions (her addiction is a choice to some degree, long story) over me, over a baby. I have had enough of my own similar issues and I would not choose it over anyone much less my own child. I know most addictions are diseases and my moms is as well however there are circumstances and she just never gave a crap. She was narcissistic, like Courtney, and it was more important to feel good, feel special, get numb, be like everyone else, be herself or whatever the reason was that fing time. I get it and I applaud Frances Bean for getting out because I can't, still, and it kills me a little every time I hurt her by telling the truth or have to pick up the pieces. I am already cringing for the day my kids see what she is and grow up a lot in a few seconds. So far I have sheltered them and keep her away as much as possible but they adore her when she is sober. Too bad she does not adore herself much less admit her disease.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Wow. My husband also committed suicide amongst our talking/threatening divorce. He was drinking in excess every day. I was drinking more than I should have been (but not as much as he was). Guess by the logic above I killed him just like Courtney killed Kurt.

I don't like Courtney by any stretch of the imagination and I agree that she was not good for Kurt but she did not kill him.

    ReplyDelete
  43. I get email for her, like from Samantha Ronson's mom kind of emails for her. I wonder if she knows her email address even.

  44. You guys haven't heard the joke?
Courtney Love's career was started with a bang

Conspiracy nothing. Both were druggies. He overmedicated and made a fatal decision.
Now we are left with her.
Famous because of who she had sex with. Isn't that something. Next thing you know she'll be on DWTS

  45. @RQ

    You weren't harsh at all.

You simply pointed out a reality.

I don't know Kurt's mental/medical history, but I have always associated his suicide with his addiction.
