BuzzFoto Blind Item

This elderly singer who was a sex symbol in the 60′s and early 70′s used to pay for sex acts with men so he could be discreet about his sexuality. As he is getting older and dealing with health issues, he finally came out to his wife a few months ago. The wife claimed she has known their entire marriage and agreed to stay because she claimed that she still loves him and always has, and claims she’ll be his best friend for as long as they live.

No clue but it's really sweet she's sticking with him.

  2. Tom Jones? At first I thought no because he's had affairs and even children from said affairs..... but he's elderly, he's a singer (as opposed to Bob Dylan, Mick Jagger, etc who are more musicians) plus he DOES have health problems......so maybe?

  3. She is one good woman and I hope that his will reflects that. I do not have a clue as to who this is, a solo act or part of a group clue would be helpful. And how long these two have been married.

  4. for me,they succeed their marriage!

  5. OH and he's been married to the same chick for over like 50 years or something like that.

  6. What about the other one, Engelburt Humperdinck..I believe Tom Jones has had an open marriage from day one....

  7. Humperdinck is a good one too. I just didn't think he really hit until the 70s.

I don't think Tom Jones had an open marriage though. One time she beat the shit out of him for cheating. And he admits that he just let her wail on him because he was wrong to have cheated. Not saying that means its him, just saying I don't think it was a mutual open marriage. At least not at first.

  8. Tom Jones was my first thought, too. I've heard about the "arrangement" between he & his wife before, too - but maybe she just assumed it was with women. Which it was to a degree; anyone who has read Elvira (aka Cassandra Peterson's) account of her night with Tom Jones KNOWS he was with women, too. That story still gives me the chills, ugh :/

Anyway all that aside, the part about her saying she'll be his best friend for as long as they live actually made me tear up :*)

  9. Humperdinck was also around late 60s thru middle 70s. Very sweet story, shows he's done right by her too to share such love.

  12. So she's ok with her whole marriage being a lie? I would be pissed.

  13. Glen Campbell? He had his hits in the 60s and 70s, and has recently announced that he has Alzheimers.

  14. Bnl1016 - Why are you reading my thoughts? Tom Jones is exactly who I thought of. Is your b-day coming soon, I wonder?

  15. Damned - I think Glen Campbell is a great guess. I was thinking this is someone who has been with the same partner for a long, long time, like Tom Jones, but wikipedia shows GC's been with his current wife since 1981, so it still fits. Plus, has Tom Jones come out with any health problems?

I've changed my mind, I'm going with Glen Campbell heh.

  16. Alright, apparently there WERE some health scares for Jones earlier this year, but it sounds like it wasn't that severe. So yeah, sticking with Campbell.

  17. Well, the Glen Campbell guess would explain a whole lot of drug and alcohol abuse over the years. If memory serves me correctly, he could be physically abusive as well (Tanya Tucker).

  18. Who sang that song "That's what Friends are for?" Wondering if the best friend bit is a clue? And please don't let it be Tom Jones. He had to get married at 16 because he got his girlfriend pregnant and is now a grandfather. I love him because we're both Welsh but he is a notorious womanizer.

  19. Oh dear...is this truly a kindness blind item??? You allowed your husband to run around on you during your entire marriage and you not only allow it, you condone it? Not just the fact that you have allowed the man to live with the guilt all of these years. I just don't get why such a twisted marriage is so admirable? I suppose if he were running around with other women, it would be different and because he is gay it is excusable.

Why the heck do people get married if they do not intend on staying faithful??? I just don't get it.

  20. I was going to write something nice about the wife until I read Ice Angel's comment. Why DID she not say anything before if she knew? Oh, well, we will never know what really goes on in a marriage between 2 peoples and what they do to make it work.

  21. Glen Campbell fits even though sex symbol in the 60's and 70's screams Tom Jones name. Tom's got serious hetero cred though and in addition to the health issues, Glen had major problems with alcohol. Didn't he beat Tanya Tucker back in the day?

For anyone who doesn't think Glen Campbell was a sex symbol, he was cute and blond when cute blond guys were the in thing.

  22. Andy Williams? Had his variety show during the late 60's and early 70's.

  23. Different times back then. I know that sounds like a convenient excuse, but objectively speaking, it was just very very different in those days.

I don't think it's a "kindness" blind, and I certainly don't think there's anything sweet and charming about a cheating husband, NOR do I think I personally would have stayed with someone I knew was always cheating on me, but I DO think it's very big hearted of the wife to say she'll always be his best friend after he came out to her. It couldn't have been easy for him to come out, and it REALLY couldn't have been easy for her to say that she knew and that she still loves and supports him. He needs support now that he's older and ailing, and she's giving it to him. It's nice and, honestly, very selfless and kind-hearted.

  24. Wayne Newton was the first name that popped into my head.

  25. you might not be romantically in love with your husband, but you can certainly have great affection for him. It's a nice thing she's doing now, and I guess it was her choice to stay quiet even though she knew throughout their marriage. Everyone has different reasons for their relationship choices.

  27. why did i think Rod Stewart? i don't think he has been married (if he is indeed married now) long enough...hhhmmm.

  28. Glen Campbell came out in the last year or so and said he is in the early stages of Alzheimer's. He gets my vote.

  29. I think the kindness is the last line, "and claims she'll be his best friend for as long as they live." Sure she could have outed him years ago but where would that have gotten either of them. She loves and respects him on a deeper more meaningful level then just romance. It really was a different when he was famous and he needed her to provide that cookie cutter image and I'm pretty sure over the years she's lived a pretty great life being at his isde in whatever capacity worked for them.

  30. Dishtlk - just want to say I LOVE your photo. It cracks me up every time LOL!

  31. Glen Campbell is dealing with Alzheimers/dementia. Not sure they would worry about other things now.

    ReplyDelete
  32. I think it's sweet that she is okay with it. The things you do for people you love!

As far as faithfulness & marriage -- they really don't go hand in hand in most cases. People don't get married for the sex, it's for companionship and children. They think it's for the great sex that they're having at the time. That shit goes far out the window after kids, illness, etc.

  33. Glen Campbell was on Ellen today w/ his wife.

  34. lol - thanks Jen!

  35. Hmmm... Just to be different Tony Orlando. (He's just 4yrs younger then Tom Jones)

    ReplyDelete
  36. Define elderly? My first thought was Bobby Sherman but would he be considered elderly?

    ReplyDelete
  37. I would agree with the Tom Jones pick. Wayne Newton would be a great guess if he was ever a sex symbol (he was not.) Also I think more than a few people have questioned his sexuality before. Tom Jones for the win. (Tom is a fantastic singer BTW and his wife sounds fantastic.)

  38. Some people here have strange ideas about what constitutes a sex symbol. Glen Campbell was NEVER considered a sex symbol. Tom Jones, Englebert, yes. Remember Mac Davis? (Glen Campbell stole his wife. I met Mac and he's an a**.) Yes, he was. Tony Orlando? Don't think so (met him in the '80s he asked me to dinner and kissed my hand). Rod Stewart? Definitely, but he's more of an elderly rock star, not "singer."

I thought of Tom Jones before I read the second sentence.

  39. Andy Williams?!?! Seriously?!?!?! Yikes!

    ReplyDelete
  40. Not Tom. Worked with a (much MUCH MUCH younger than him!) woman who was a mistress of his (only one or one of many, who knows) for many years. They were very close. VERY hetero, old Tom. According to the mistress.

  43. she chooses a bff that cheats, lies and exposes her to STD's. she chooses to say nothing while he lies over and over, year after year. what kind of fucked up relationship has one partner cheating and lying for decades, and the other turning a blind eye? that is NOT love.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Hmmmmmm, maybe the wife is the reason the elderly singer is sickly. Slow acting poison, anyone? Maybe she isn't so forgiving and understanding after all.
