Billy Bob Thornton's Daughter Sentenced To 20 Years
Four months after being found guilty of aggravated manslaughter, Amanda Brumfield was sentenced to 20 years in jail. Amanda has said the child she was watching climbed out of a playpen and fell and hit her head. Amanda says that after it happened the baby was fine and they played and ate and went to sleep and when Amanda woke up, the baby had died. Prosecutors had said there was no way the baby could have suffered as much damage to her head if she had only fallen as far as Amanda had claimed. Billy Bob Thornton says he has not spoken to his eldest daughter in years. Amanda's lawyers say they plan to appeal.
She's a piece of shit, and so is BIlly Bob. I can't fathom not talking to your own offspring for such an extended period of time -- and if you suspect your daughter is cray-cray and that your grandchild's life might be in danger, it's inexcusable to not intervene.
ReplyDeleteI loved Sling Blade, but that's the last movie I've watched featuring Billy Bob. After that infamous radio interview from a couple of years ago, he lost me as a fan completely.
I don't know about her--haven't followed the case--but there are lots of reasons you might not speak with family members for years on end. Lots of reasons. And maybe he didn't know she was a danger to the child.
ReplyDeletethe only reason why we talk about this case is because her dad is famous
ReplyDeleteit's very sad for the little kid
@ Ida
ReplyDeleteIt wasn't her child it was the child of a friend's.
@Lady J -- Oops. That's what I get for skimming...
ReplyDeleteI still find it weird to purposely estrange yourself from your own daughter. If you've got reasons to be disturbed by his/her behavior, you should help them gain some clarity and sanity. It's not as if you stop being a parent when the kid turns eighteen.
Billy Bob never could be bothered with children. It's why Angie Jo left his ass, by all accounts. He didn't want anything to do with her adoption of Maddox. He comes off as pretty self-absorbed to me.
ReplyDeleteThis is a sad story, all around.
ReplyDeleteAmanda's mother raised her away from Billy Bob. As an adult, they formed a good relationship. When she was arrested for this crime, then he became estranged from her. I don't blame him. I wouldn't wanna wreck my reputation chumming around with her, either.
ReplyDeleteIda, after over 20 years of putting up with my brother's alcoholism, having him in both our houses trying to help him, my father & I have had enough. Enough of the public humiliation, the private threatening behaviour, the walking on eggshells. No-one can help an addict unless they are ready. I hope one day my brother is ready, but until then my dad and I have a right to live peaceful lives.
ReplyDelete@Ida
ReplyDeletePerhaps she rejected him. My sister did just that this past summer and it has wreaked havoc on our family and broken my parents' hearts.
Or, he could be a real asshole.
