What Do You Think?

Bethenny Frankel has been telling anyone and everyone that she was lost at sea for 20 hours over the weekend. Of course the entire things was filmed by Bravo for her show. According to Bethenny, the GPS went out on the sailboat she was on with her husband and 11 others and the captain got lost. They finally called the Coast Guard who came and led them in to shore. She said she thought about her death. I just find it really convenient that her Skinny Margarita has been getting horrible publicity and is being pulled and then the next week she "gets lost at sea," with a film crew on board and a special airing on Wednesday.

The Coast Guard did say they gave assistance to a boat, but that is as far as their statement goes. So, what do you think? Real? Fake? I think it was real, but she makes it sound like they were clinging to life rafts while the band kept playing.

  1. I think she would have been happy to be lost for even longer and perhaps loose more weight.

  2. My guess is totally real - but greatly exaggerated.

  3. I think she probably made it sound worse that it was but I know if I was out in the ocean in the pitch dark of night I'd be shitting my pants. Especially when you are famous you probably have flashes of the headlines.

  5. I call BS on this. I grew up on sailboats. Virtually impossible. If you are sailing, you can navigate by the wind, waves, current, stars and at night....LIGHTS!!!

Totally for ratings hype. The boat was big enough for a paid captain and TWELVE passengers.

    Steaming load of BS.

  6. I think it could've been exaggerated reality, but I prefer to believe she staged the whole thing. She just happened to have a film crew aboard? Really?

  9. It's about as real as the host of Cheaters getting stabbed. Too bad her boat didn't sink.

  12. I'm on Team Aly for this one. How big *was* this boat to hold 12 people AND a camera crew?

  13. I really like Bethenny and her acerbic wit and I love love love her husband Jason.

That said, I have no doubt that the whole thing was a big fat publicity stunt for the show.

I hadn't heard about Skinny Margarita being pulled from the shelves; whats all that about?

  14. Never mind. Just googled and found this:

Whole Foods pulled [Skinny Margarita] from shelves. It has the potentially carcinogenic preservative sodium benzoate

I'll bet she's damned glad she sold the company. She's rumored to have sold it for $120 million.

  15. Are you truely lost if you are able to phone the coast guard for help? Maybe stranded, but not lost. This all happened in less than one day. Maybe if they were out their longer I could see being "lost"

  21. oh come on. you can't put skinny girl on a shelf without a TOUCH of preservative. the 'carcinogenic' part is silly.
whole foods is just being its tight ass self.

having said that, i think this event really happened but i'm sure they weren't in grave danger. i would have freaked out myself if it had been me so i'm cutting her a break on this one.

  22. Sodium benzoate is a preservative. It is bacteriostatic and fungistatic under acidic conditions. It is most widely used in acidic foods such as salad dressings (vinegar), carbonated drinks (carbonic acid), jams and fruit juices (citric acid), pickles (vinegar), and condiments. It is also used as a preservative in medicines and cosmetics.[1] [2] As a food additive, sodium benzoate has the E number E211.

  23. She had a camera crew with her b/c they are probably filming her show. I'm sure it was exaggerated, though.

I have tried Skinnygirl Margarita and did not like it. Her recipe for sangria is quite tasty though.
