Today's Blind Items

What young, foreign born singer who is A list and a big winner in her country and a B here disappeared for about a month. Most people would suspect rehab, but in this case, it was actually a nervous breakdown. Apparently she was discovered frozen in place in her hotel room and doctors said she needed a break. She spent a month away being treated and is back out in public, but still looks like she could crack any second.

  1. No idea. "A big winner" seems to suggest some t.v. talent show contestant, but ... Susan Boyle? "I had a dream that dreams were dreams, and dreaminess was dreamy-ific...." She isn't A list though.

  2. Young leave's Susan Boyle out, I like the Leona Lewis guess, she did win some show and she has been out of the limelight for a minute. She never really did crossover as the next "Mariah" here in the US.

  3. Adele gets my vote. Remember she cancelled a bunch of shows not that long ago.

  4. I am going with Adele, as much as I hate it.

  5. I think Adele too. She's a sensitive soul and cannot handle too much of the spotlight.

Adele suffers from anxiety attacks and is said to be slow to adjust to all the attention she's received lately.

  7. I'm going with Leona Lewis as well, since "big winner" implies she won a competition and one of the lyrics to Bleeding Love is "before you know it you're frozen."

  8. Whoever it is, I hope she has good people around her who aren't pushing her to go beyond what she's capable of. Poor thing.

  9. Adele was on the cover of UK Vogue and she looked really good. That just might be photoshop, but she looked fine to me.

My heart goes out to whoever this is.

  10. It is Adele and that makes me very sad. They have been bashing her for her weight and she has openly said she normally throws up before going on stage because she is so nervous. Poor girl. : (

  11. It sounds like Adele, though I hope it isn't her. With all the autotuned crap out there these days, she's the real thing, and a joy to listen to.

  12. I hope this is Avril Lavigne and not Adele!

  13. Awww...I'm sad for whoever this is about. To be so successful but not able to handle the fame is awful. Hope they get better.

  14. I think this might be Adele, but I really hope it isn't. I saw a pic of her the other day and mentally noted how she looked like she was going to lose it.

  15. Aw, it pains me to say that Adele makes sense, though I really hpe it isn't her. Her people are saying even more shows are canceled/postponed because of a "chest infection," which was the same reason for when she canceled other shows over the summer. I'm so glad I saw her before the shows were canceled!

  16. Adele is a "big winner" because she won some show? Or is it some kind of reference to her weight? It doesn't make sense for Enty to make a fat joke, does it.

I did not know earlier that Leona Lewis was a t.v. show product, but apparently her claim to fame is that she was a big winner on X Factor.

She also has had a variety of issues with being in public, since getting punched in the face by a nutter at a public meet'n'greet. My vote's for Ms Lewis.

  17. I remember watching Leona Lewis on the X-Factor. She was so insecure, quiet and shy. Simon had a hard time getting her to show some confidence. He kept telling her she was going to be the next "Big Thing" in the U.S. Maybe it is her, though she never really took off here like in the U.K.

  18. Just to mix it up a bit, how about Jesse J? She's won a BRIT award in the UK but I don't think she's won anything in the US and she's certainly much better known there than here.

  19. Definitely Leona Lewis. Got her start by winning X-Factor, and disappeared for a while. A week or two ago I was wondering where she had gotten to, because she usually shows up on Go Fug Yourself pretty regularly.

  20. Sad. Adele is certainly A list.

I hope (if it's her) she gets better soon and gets down to having lots of fun experiences with those she holds dearest.

  21. eona. Feel sorry for her, she's been given terrible advice over the past two years, she's tried Gaga-esque masks, big blousy fashion and a tattoo, she can't find an image so I could easily imagine she feels under terrible pressure. Such a sweet, everyday girl too and she should just stick to that. She won x-factor for her voice rather than being the total package that the term x-factor implies.

Adele cancelled a show because of a cold, she filmed a chat show last week, broadcast on Saturday, and you could hear the startings of a cold.

  22. espos, I imagine she has also been under tremendous pressure to really break out in the U.S. People like Simon Cowell have invested a lot of time and money into trying to make her a huge star, and I bet they're pissed she hasn't caught on like, say, Adele.

  23. I'll go with Leona Lewis as well. Adele is A list in the states, she's sold so many CD's, her songs are all over the place, etc. Also, Leona wn the X factor and that show is huge in the UK. Adele has been very sick with assorted throat ailments and that is obvious from all the acoustic performances posted by I heart radio, AOL, and other outlets. You can clearly hear the strain in her voice. I also noticed it a little bit at the VMA's. She is physically exhausted for sure.

Leona Lewis was never an in your face type personality. I can absolutely see her having stress and panic issues. She is talented though, I would hate to see her career end.

  24. Adele is A list here. I think this is Leona Lewis.

  25. Whoever this is, what she is suffering is real. I don't know about Leona, but Adele has admitted she gets so nervous she vomits. I am amazed she can still do a show after something like that. Panic voms are the worst!!!! I say if fame and being in public is this bad for her, then she should remove herself from the situation. Fame and money isn't always worth that much anxiety. Poor thing.

  26. Leona Lewis, Adele and Avril all make sense.

  27. Adele -- The big winner perhaps references her Mercury Prize.

She's been well-known in the UK longer than she has been here. I would say that she is more A list there than here.

  28. I am going to agree with a lot of you by saying Adele and it's sad and I wish it wasn't her.(hope it isn't)

Anxiety sucks ass - I have issues with it myself - mostly when I drive a certain stretch of road. Intellectually you know what's happening but tell that to my legs and hands and heart while i drive a car. Ugh -

and I can't imagine loving and making money at my job but suffering from anxiety of it at the same time.

Whoever this is I hope she is getting good help!

  29. I'm with Rocketqueen-Shakira was the first to pop into my mind.
Definitely A list outside of US, but more of a B here, I think.
Adele is A list everywhere, IMO.

  30. Sorry-RocketQueen, not Rocketqueen!

  31. I'm a huge fan of Adele and I don't think this blind is her. She's sick, but she doesn't look like she's on the edge of a nervous breakdown, just physically exhausted. I'm on the Leona Lewis train here. That girl looks like a deer in the headlights, poor thing. I hope she gets the help she needs.

  32. ecua: Adele is not A list everywhere. She barely makes a blip in my family's radar, nevermind my family abroad. Whereas EVERYONE in my family knows who Shakira is, even if they hate her music.
