Today's Blind Items - The Director's Wife Has Been Busy

Apparently the Director's Wife is separated and in the process of getting a divorce. It started months ago when her husband was dropped from a couple of projects. He directed a hit movie and now has nothing lined up and nothing down the pipeline. It might even have something to do with what he had his wife do to secure him that directing job. Meanwhile our actress has been taking "meetings" in NY and has a couple lined up in L.A.

Last week our actress had a major meltdown during a sitdown for a monthly magazine that your parents probably read but you have never opened yourself because she was prodded about "internet rumors." Those rumors included why she had to go to a network and discuss her involvement there with a former President of the network.

Once those questions were asked, our actress and her publicist went ballistic and another interviewer was brought in to finish the interview. Despite our actress and the Director showing up at an event together, our actress had confided to a makeup artist at the magazine interview that she was not sure if her husband would be there or not.

Out in Los Angeles during Emmy week, our actress did not wear her wedding ring and told this B- list actress/Emmy nominee/one of my favorite people who is finally getting the love she deserves on a hit network show that she's about to be back on the market. At a party during that week, our actress was the focus of attention from a long line of guys who wanted to meet her. I bet that is not all they wanted.

The Director has moved out and has another apartment close to the one he shared with our actress.

  1. I thought she had a running gig on Empire Boardwalk?
    But yeah, Gretchen Mol.

  4. I'm more interested in the monthly magazine name. I think Gretchen Mol has been nailed (pun intended) for this for a while.

  5. Did anyone else think that ad was a picture related to the post? I'm reading and can't figure out the connection, then realized my mistake. Or is it just me?

  6. Ms Cool: if it's something that my parents would read, I was thinking something along Reader's Digest or TV guide. Don't remember if they are monthly or weekly, but they have been known to stick to old-fashioned journalism: if you agree to an interview, nothing is off limit.

  7. Who's the B- Emmy nominated actress Enty loves?

  8. He loves Rashida Jones, was she nominated?

  9. How sad that Gretchen Mol just had a baby. Sigh.

  10. He loves Zooey Deschanel. I was thinking her for the B but I don't know if she's been nominated for an Emmy ever.

  11. Mol's husband doesn't have any projects in pre-production, production or post-production per IMDB. Nothing since he did Paranormal Activity 2. Mol herself doesn't have anything new either, simply her (presumably) continuing role on Broadwalk Empire.

  12. Rashida wasn't nominated.

What about Martha Plimpton as the B- actress?

  13. I thought maybe one of the Deschanel sisters, they are B- and Enty is quite taken with them, especially Emily.

But I haven't found out if they were ever nominated for an Emmy.

  14. Interesting... Given the context, I read this as someone who was nominated this year.

  15. Beth - The way I understood it, is that our actress who is getting a divorce, admitted as much to a B- nominated actress at the Emmys.

Maybe I've read it wrong too... Anyone else?

  16. Rita -- everyone loves Enty, but even his shorter blinds can get mangled. You often don't know what's modifying what or who is being referred to when there's more than one he or she etc.

  17. Enty likes the chick from Mike & Molly, who won the Emmy. Melissa McCarthy, I think the name is?

  18. Wait but what "hit movie" did Gretchen Mol's husband direct? His wiki only lists:

The Adventures of Sebastian Cole (1998)
The Door in the Floor (2004)
    Paranormal Activity 2 (2010)

None of these can really be considered "hits" ?

I think we have all decided the the Director's Wife is Gretchen Mol. And she was at the Emmys.

  20. Rita, that's the way I understood it too. My question was about who the B- actress was -- was she someone nominated in the past or someone nominated this year.

05girl, would Paranormal Activity 2 be considered a hit? It did well enough for them to make a third movie. And directors on that sort of movie are interchangeable. The brand sells itself.

  21. Goodness...this was sad to read.

  22. @Beth - I think it'd be considered a hit if it reached #1 in the box office and they're making another. Plus, he wasn't the director of the first one and has little experience, so it's possible Gretchen pulled some strings and got him the gig.

  23. According to IMDB PA2 grossed $85MM on a $3MM budget.

  24. wow, that's a lot of money for such a little budget. I think per Hollywood standards it is considered a success.

But I'm basing my Gretchen Mol guess on the fact that she was the front runner for another blind that Enty had revealed about a wife sleeping with someone of importance in relation to the movie, so her director husband gets to make said movie (if I'm not mistaken). And in this blind it states even if she slept her husband's way to the top, at the end, the movie went to someone else.

Beth - sorry, misunderstood your question. The way I read this blind, the B- actress was nominated in the past.

  25. For fun I just googled Gretchen and the emmy's and there are alot of pictures without her ring. AND, the third selection down was from LIFE magazine. Now that's a magazine our parents used to read-although I can't see them addressing her affairs...whatev's

Ent, that is probably the most poorly constructed sentence that has ever emitted from your fingertips.
    Love, the Gossip Cop

  27. @girltrav - I don't necessarily get her appeal, to me she looks a bit like January Jones, but her turn in Boardwalk Empire is stunning - as in her nudity is! That's why I also believe she always had men lining up to meet her, and more.

  28. I thought of Good Housekeeping for the mag and Michelle Pffeifer was on the cover last month but David E Kelley doesn't direct good movies. This answer doesn't fit but I am committed so I will finish typing.
