Aruba Keeps Gary Giordano For Another 2 Months

I wish Aruban authorities had worked this hard when Natalee Holloway disappeared. Unfortunately their success rate seems about the same. An Aruban judge allowed the police to keep Gary Giordano confined for an additional 60 days while they keep investigating the disappearance of Robyn Gardner. You get the feeling that if they cannot solve this thing in the next two months it never will be and this guy will be free to go home and do it all over again.

  2. I think Gary overlooked the fact that the suspect in the Holloway case was the son of a leading judge. Unless he has some influential relatives in Aruba that we don't know about I think the Aruban officals would be anxious to investigate this disappearance.

Timebob - yes he could collect the insurance under certain circumstances, notably officals not convicting him of murder, but in most jurisdictions it can be up to seven years before a court will declare a missing person dead.

It is kind of scary that they can continue to hold him without charging him. But, I am sure he is guilty and hope they can prove it.

  4. @Bluebonnetmom: they can’t. There has to be some form of evidence or reasonable suspision for them to get these extra 60 days and even now a judge has to approve it. If they hadn’t Giordano would be going home already. This is also the last time they can hold him without a trial and this time is deducted from his time in prison if he is found guilty.

  6. I suspect that Aruba is holding him... because of what did happen in the Holloway case.

It took a big ass bite out of their tourist business. And they can not afford to have another missing girl on their hands.

And I suspect they will find a way to convict this man.

But it still sucks that Natalie's case was never taken seriously. And that jackass was able to murder yet another young girl.

Yea... Aruba really needs this case to end with a conviction. Or be prepare to have those US dollars dry up again.
