I find it very refreshing that Melissa McCarthy looks the exact same as she did back in the Gilmore Girls days. From a societal pressure stand point for her to not bow down to the probably insane Hollywood thin thing is commendable. I'm not trying to get into the issue of what is a healthy weight or not- Im not her doctor here- I just think that it takes some serious she-balls for her to, like Enty said, let her talent speak for itself.

I just saw Bridesmaid and while I LOVE Kristen Wiig I personally thought that Melissa McCarthy MADE that movie! EVERYTIME she was on the screen I was dying! You are right Enty talent SHOULD win out but unfortunetly our society is all about looks.

ReplyDeleteI thought MM made "Bridesmaids" as well.. she was hilarious in it! I never watched Gilmour Girls, but I did see "The Nines" with Ryan Reynolds and she was definitely thinner in that than the present. In any event, she seems like a lot of fun to be around =)

ReplyDeleteThese girls with the tanning. Sigh. My Mom had the most perfect nose I had literally ever seen, and she just had it chopped up because of sun exposure. And she was not a sun bather AT ALL, just a bit of gardening really.

I'd rather see some pale skin rather than the fake orange color that makes everyone look like circus clowns--or in the case of that short thing from Jersey Shore--an Oompa Loompa.
ReplyDeleteLove Melissa. She really made Bridesmaids for me. I mean, I watched Gilmore Girls religiously and I liked her character well enough, but I had no idea MM was so funny till I saw her playing such a different character in Bridesmaids.

I too loved Melissa McCarthy in Gilmore Girls. In spite of being large, she's so pretty and overall attractive. And besides, a LOT of American women look like her, so why shouldn't there be actors portraying characters that look like real life?

I also love the pale skin look, but I think Emma Robert's hair color is just...wrong. It doesn't suit her skin tone. She seems so much more washed out than Michelle yet they pretty much have the same skin color.
ReplyDeleteAnd while I must admit I like a bit of a sun-kissed look in the summer, poor Jaime needs to take it down a notch. Too much. And if you look that tan in a photo with a FLASH, I can't imagine how tan she must look in person!

ReplyDeleteI've seen lotsa interviews with Melissa McCarthy and she just seems like such a lovely person.
Bridesmaids is one of the funniest movies I've seen, so if you haven't seen it yet, I HIGHLY recommend it.
I LOVE MM going back to GG, but it does look like she's put on a lot of weight this summer. I hope it's not all the newfound success making her stressed or unhappy, because I was so happy for her getting her due!!
