The Murdochs Lied

Hey, guess what? The company that hacked and stole their way into private information for their newspapers lied to Parliament about it all. Shocker! I mean were they really expecting honesty? Apparently Rupert Murdoch and his son never learned that where there is paper or e-mail, you can never be sure you have all the copies. Like a very bad courtroom drama, a damning piece of evidence was discovered which shows that The News Corporation tampered with evidence they gave before Parliament. Oh, nothing will happen to them. I mean they are still rich and everyone in Parliament is probably afraid that the Murdochs have something on each of them, so this will all be bluster. Of course if it was your average citizen who did this in England, they would already be in jail. Do you think otherwise? If you ever doubted that rich people and not rich people are treated differently, this will show you otherwise.

When the Murdochs testified they said the hacking was done by one reporter and that it was all news to them when it came out. The letter above shows otherwise and that it was common practice at the company. The Murdochs previously submitted the same letter to Parliament, but it was missing key paragraphs. Uh oh.

  6. It's true, lying to Parliament wont land them in jail, but it could cost them big bucks. The Murdochs want to take control of Sky TV, the biggest cash cow they (part) own, but that needs Parliamentary approval. If Parliament decide they are not 'fit and proper' to own a media company, that could affect other legislatures, like the US and China.

That's why the Murdochs were so quick to close down The News Of The World, to show how responsible they were in dealing with scandal. So all these revelations about them knowing for years are embarassing for them, and soooo much fun for the rest of us!

  7. @Aly -- Not necessarily. If he still held Aussie citizenship, he could stay out of the UK and US and stave off prosecution for quite a while. As an American, he's under the direct aegis of the Department of Justice, and under this administration he'll have Fed heat chasing him down to the ends of the earth.
