Joshua Powell's Home Searched

After two years of pretty much no police activity in the disappearance of Susan Powell, with one revelation by Susan's father-in-law and then the whole case gets new life. I don't think anything was ever going to happen, but then when the father-in-law talks about the sexual touching and the flirting with his daughter-in-law then the police get interested. So, yesterday police searched through Joshua's house which he shares with his dad. Obviously Joshua doesn't care about his dad having sex with Josh's wife if they are living together.

Did anyone watch the interview on ABC? The dad is creepy. Really creepy. As in I am not sure he actually slept with Susan, but he said weird things like she would let him smell her hair when she got out of the shower and they sexually touched. Like how? See, it is creepiness like that which makes me think he might have been the one to kill her. If it were a movie it would be because if he could not have her then no one could, but you would see him hovering over some box with her hair in it that he smells right next to the shampoo which some company would have paid to have placed there. Even horror movies need product placement.

  1. So a guy's wife "disappears" in the middle of the night, he takes off with his kids camping in the middle of the night while a snowstorm rages, and that's not enough for the cops to have a search warrant years ago? You know, when she actually disappeared? This asshole and his dad have been talking shit for 2 years now I think, and the cops are just now going after them. Pisses me off.

  5. I remember the story about a Dad taking two small kids camping in the middle of a freezing cold night and the Mother disapearing, but wow, I can't believe it's been two years already.

    Good work detectives!

  8. There is no way Josh's dad is telling the truth.....I went to high school with Susan, and it does not fit.

My parents still live in Puyallup where Josh moved back to with the kids, and the whole town is creeped out by him...he isn't welcome anywhere!

  9. This is so weird! They move cross country and years later they do a search?

I wonder where the former Mom-in-Law is?

I'm down the road in Seattle but it doesn't matter, these guys could be anywhere and this is still so crazy. Those poor little boys.

  10. I just saw this on the news this morning and was wondering how the hell I'd missed hearing about it before. The dad is SUPER creepy! He readily admitted that he wasn't about to turn down the (supposed) sexual advances of his DIL b/c she was a beautiful sweet girl. BLECH. My mouth just dropped open.

The FIL has to be involved somehow and considering the husband is living with the father, perhaps he was too? It is truly a bizarre case.

If I remember correctly, it's not just that Josh took his toddler sons camping in a sub-zero snowstorm in the middle of the night, only to return to his wife missing...but there was a fan directed onto a wet patch of carpet when the police arrived at their home. Not even sure that Josh called the police himself, but maybe someone else did.

After hearing the FIL talk, I wouldn't be surprised if Josh and his dad are complicit in this together somehow. Two years is such a long time to go with no body being found. I can't imagine how her family is coping. And whoever mentioned those young sons of hers...so very sad for them. I hope they get some resolution soon.

How do you get to the place where you think it's OK to take another person's life?

  13. What kills me is that these jerks have been consistently, ever since she disappeared, tried to portray her as unstable.

They released her (supposed, and I would bet altered) diaries from when she was a teenager not too long ago, trying to discredit her somehow through that. They've consistently said creepy and unbelievable shit and never helped look for her.

It just enrages me that the police didn't ever look at them seriously, allowed the guy to move out of state, and basically have done nothing until now. Basically, they've let them get away with killing her. If after this amount of time there's still somehow evidence available to convict him, I will be shocked, and it will prove what fucking idiots these assholes are.

  14. Co-sign with the FIL is creepy comments - not to mention the fact that one of the US Morning shows (GMA, Today?) showed footage of his own (estranged) daughter saying that her Dad is a liar, and that he was coming on to Susan

  18. I never heard about this case until now and I am in complete disbelief. He was 'camping' in the middle of a blizzard in subzero temperatures?? Really? With a 2 and 4 year old boy? The police bought that? Have they ever been around a 2 or 4 year old male child before?? They would have complained and it would have been complete chaos to set up a camp site while supervising them at the same time. Let alone keeping them warm and safe! I NEVER comment but as a mom myself of an 18 month boy I wish his father would try to take my baby camping in the middle of the night in freezing temperatures. Hell I wish he would try to take him to the grocery store or anywhere in the middle of the night. I don't play that and don't know any responsible mother that would.
